Second, it serves both homeowners and guests with a smile. Third, it is cheaper than Snowshoe. If you're interested in staying at Snowshoe, please understand that the resort doesn't own ANY properties on the mountain. The only Intrawest-owned property is the Inn at Snowshoe down at the base of the mountain. All of the condos, homes, lodge rooms, etc., are privately owned. Old Spruce has an outstanding selection of properties to satisfy tastes and size of the group. They also have an interesting feature that, for a nominal price, covers any damage to a unit. That is a fine feature for the guest, as accidents DO happen, and also a fine feature for the homeowner, as he/she has to replace the property at his/her expense. I have been doing business with them for ten years now and highly recommend them.

There has been an increasing emphasis on all the owners to improve the units and many have undergone total refurbishment. Its location in the Central Village, but well enough away to remain calm, is enviable. The Summit Homeowners recently voted to end their association with Snowshoe group sales to ensure they maintaing themselves as a venue for families and small groups and not as a large group outlet with the accompanying rowdiness. A superb place to enjoy Snowshoe.

It's obvious the owners care about their place as everything looks new like carpet, tile floors in the bathrooms, appliances, washer and dryer, sofa. Additionally, the beds are the best night's sleep I ever had; I looked and saw they were memory foam, rare for a rental but much appreciated! There are flat screens in all the rooms, living room is 42" and master bedroom looks to be 32". In other units I have stayed in there were 1 or 2 tv's and they are smaller so that was nice. The unit had PS2 and tons of games for my kids, they also provided lots of board games, DVD's and about 50 books as well! The view from the Deck is just great, you have unobstructed views for 50 miles. Another plus is that the deer hang out at Summit, since it is wooded, where the places in the Village are not. Being across from the Village for us worked out great, you can walk to the slopes, take the shuttle or in our case, drive the car for 20 seconds, drop everyone off right in the Village At night, when the Village gets loud until very late, it can be tough to sleep but at Summit, you don't hear a sound. The owners at Summit 307B obviously go out of their way to make sure that renters like us are comfortable and it shows. Whenever we go to Snowshoe, we always ask the reservation person to book us into 307B and we are always so happy to stay there. Thanks to the owners of 307B for making your rental home so enjoyable!

Rented this house for a ski weekend...there was no running water upon my group's arrival...hot tub…read morewater was dirty...DirecTV service was not up to par at all...heat pump failed overnight. Bailed out after that one miserable night; owner verbally agreed to refund us for all three nights of the reservation - which would have been the appropriate thing to do - and later recanted / changed his refund offer several times. In an email, blamed the DirecTV problem on "surgery issues." I know, I know...whaaaaaa...??? Suggested it was our fault the heat pump failed. Threatened to refund us NOTHING AT ALL unless we promised not to 'slander' him online. In a desperate attempt at gaining leverage in our dispute, accused us of damaging his pool table and suggested he was doing us a big favor by not making us pay for it. Truth is: we didn't touch his stinking pool table. We're all professional, responsible, educated adults. It never happened. At the end of the day, this owner never refunded my group anything at all. Had to seek remedy through credit card issuing bank. This owner flat-out did nothing to ensure the house was ready to receive paying occupants, and miserably failed at every opportunity he was presented with after the fact to make things right. MISERABLY failed. Do yourself a favor and avoid this property owner.

We have stayed in Highland House and Expedition station. Both within a short walk to restaurants, shops and literally on the slope. You get a locker with your stay which makes everything easy. The views are breathtaking, this makes it a must-stay resort! The bus service makes it easy to get around and there are multiple places to hang in the mountain. We go back at least once a year!

Elk River Inn and Restaurant is 20 minutes (11 miles) away at the base of the mountain situated right on its namesake - the Elk River. What truly carries this rating is the food and atmosphere. It's very cottage-like feeling with lots of wood interior and cozy reminders all around you that you are in the mountains. I wouldn't consider the interior kitsch, but rather, decor appropriate for what it is. It was built in the 1980's and to some degree still reflects the time it was built through its furnishings. In a way it reminds me of my parent's house and I can appreciate this sort of decor. For dinner we had a meat and cheese board, rainbow trout and duck breast. Items, which, we were better happy with. The food was delicious and proportionally fulfilling. I had a glass of wine and he had a beer. Prices are similar to what we are familiar with while dining high end in DC, and we weren't that surprised to find that out here. If you are looking for something moderately priced then this might not be the place for you. Service was less than amazing. It was slow and a bit amiss. That is why this isn't a 5 star rating. It was disappointing. She was nice enough, but not someone I would want to have as a server again. We were next to a table who had a different server and he was on top of his game without a beat. This is totally worth a visit if you want to get away from the mountain for an evening. It was refreshing having food that didn't involve something fried, a burger, or sandwich.

The person who responded didn't answer my questions, but asked what website I was looking at. I told them and was told NOT to use them because they charge additional fees. I was told if I use the mountaintop condos website, I will not be charged additional fees. I checked out the website and the price was more than double with additional fees from the mountaintop condos website. I pointed that out, said I would be using the deal I got and asked my questions again. Again, my questions were ignored and the person told me those fees are normal and again, not to use the deal I got. I asked again, pointed out it was the third time I'd asked and asked them not to lie to me just to make a sale. The responder told me they don't need the sale. That was the last I heard from them.
