This was my first time to stay at a bed and breakfast. I absolutely loved it! The host family, Rod…read moreand Karyn, were awesome and made me feel comfortable and as if it were my home. Clean, well maintained, quiet, comfortable, and scenic. Be sure to check out the tree growing on a rock in the creek! I'd go back tomorrow if I could. We were there in order to go to the Cass Scenic Railway and it was convenient access. Loved it! I highly recommend it.

The Morning Glory Inn offers easy access to skiing, snowboarding, golfing, Cass and Durbin Railroads, mountain biking, hiking, hunting, fishing and all of the many other scenic possibilities that Pocahontas County WV offers.  Your first glance of the Morning Glory Inn Bed and Breakfast offers the 90 foot front porch, which is perfect for star gazing, bird watching or just plain relaxing. Then, upon entry, the large guest area beckons to be sat in with its comfortable leather sofas and cushy chairs to warm by the fire and relax, read, chat or watch a movie. And, of course, we do have WI-FI. The Morning Glory Inn has actually lowered its rates and includes a much nicer than usual continental breakfast. On weekends we'll always add something extra and we'll probably be cooking some eggs and pancakes. We have also added refrigerators and coffee makers to the rooms so that everyone can keep a snack available and have a cup in their room. Our well-appointed rooms with vaulted wood ceilings and private baths including are the largest in Pocahontas County WV.

The hotel isn't so old, I was told 17 years old but it seems older with its classic style - it's gingerbread moldings and large porches - and it's quite cute. I really enjoyed my time here. I'm glad that I read about the lack of WiFi and cellphone service in advance so I was prepared. I took it as a break to spend time with my friends and husband - a time to disconnect. They also host spiritual conferences there, we were told. I can imagine it being a good place for a church retreat - the rates for conferences were very reasonable - advertised in the $400 range for a full weekend of meals and activities. I can imagine this business growing as the location is extremely beautiful and it's a powerful thing to disconnect and reconnect with loved ones.

The room is clean and with an unique theme as described on their website. The only downside is this place is too far from where we live. We would definitely like to visit more if it's closer. It's a perfect place for kids too.

We had a great breakfast, virtual tour, and hike on the property. The new owners are so accommodating, we could not wait to come back and experience true mountain charm. So we immediately booked for the fall foliage. Guys they still had rooms and those rooms are gorgeous. We can't wait to return to mountain hospitality, with electric chargers (WV just doesn't have them)

This is a unique place to stay for a getaway in West Virginia. The Inn is located about 8 miles…read moredown a single-track, winding road, so it really feels off the grid. You look out your window at trees, forests, and ridges. The owners have created a warm, friendly environment, with many decorations that make for a rustic feel. Overall the Inn is a really nice place to stay, but here are a few things to consider: - The driveway is a lengthy (0.2-mile), gravel-covered, steep hill. We have an SUV and each time we went up the driveway our lights went on indicating unstable traction. Keep this in mind if you have a smaller vehicle or plan to go in the snowy months. - Breakfast is complimentary and dinner is provided for an additional fee ($30 per person per night and $45 on Saturdays). The food is delicious and all home-made. Ed is a fantastic chef - see many pics posted below. However, he makes a set amount of food per-person and there is no extra food. The first night we were there my wife and I had done a long hike in the afternoon and we were very hungry. Dinner was tasty but it was not enough food for us. When I asked if we could have more Ed said there was none. So consider your personal needs when thinking about meals. Since the Inn is so secluded, it is not easy to drive to a restaurant (20-30 minutes at least). - Breakfast is at 8am and dinner is at 7pm. This is a reasonable schedule for most people. My wife and I are early risers though and found ourselves up long before breakfast, so it ended up feeing like we had to wait around before starting our day (there is a coffee & tea station setup that you can go to at any time of day). Again, this will work for some people but not others. - The wifi is spotty. It's good enough to look up directions on Google maps but you can't stream a show or movie if that's your kind of thing to do on vacation. - There were a few extra charges that we didn't expect. For example, dinner Saturday night was $45 per person and Ed offered us wine with dinner (he is a sommelier and has a great selection). We were surprised to see that the wine was $15 per glass when we got our final bill at checkout. We could have asked of course, but we didn't think of it and Ed didn't mention it.
