I love the ice cream snowflake does, I can't fault it. They have a lovely range for any palate and it's super tasty.
The also offer their recommendations and tries, so you can see what you like before you buy.
However I was really disappointed with this Snowflake, I'd been to the one near Notting Hill with a trusted Yelp friend and had a wonderful chocolate Sunday that I sometimes still dream about.
However my glee of finding another branch quickly faded.
They didn't seem to have the same menu and to lack the variety of its sister store, and I couldn't find anything that resembled the sundae of my dreams. So I opted for the affogato.
Don't get me wrong, as far as this traditional Italian desert goes, this was okay.
I went for the crème Brule ice cream which was pretty tasty, although I'm not sure I liked it arriving with the coffee already added as adding it to your taste, keeping the ice cream cold and coffee hot, is part of the fun!
The staff were also really helpful and I loved the little crunchy sprinkles they added to make my desert extra yummy.
However I think the presentation really helps build an experience, and there is something precious about going to an ice cream parlour which frankly is an indulgent treat (and priced that way) and there was something about this snowflake store that isn't quite right. It doesn't feel luxurious, it feels worn and cheap, very far removed from the warm, intimate experience I had with my friend over in Notting Hill.
So in summary, great if you want a tasty gelato fix, not if you want an ice cream parlour experience. read more
