We came around dinner time and this place had a line to the door the entire time. I had the yogurt mixed berries, yogurt mango, and banana straccialetta. It tasted delicious and all three flavors tasted great together and individually. None of the flavors were overly sweet so it was easy to finish. Waffle pieces were fresh and crispy and a nice bonus. Yelp to the rescue! After dinner with friends in Soho, we were craving something sweet and cold. (We were there during a heat wave; temperatures were in the 80's and 90's.) I searched for "gelato" on the Yelp app and up popped Gelupo. We made the 0.3 mile stroll from dinner and discovered a small line winding outside of the shop. Seemed like we picked a good one! Gelupo is an excellent gelato shop. They feature different flavors everyday based on the materials they have! This time around, I got the yogurt + summer berries and the peanut butter raspberry. The peanut butter raspberry was surprisingly delicious! It had a hint of pb&j taste but surprisingly not too much! It was kind of it's own delicious blend of the two flavors. The peanut butter was aromatic without being too intense in flavor, still keeping the ice cream light. The summer berries and yogurt I wish were more separate, like a swirl. I don't care what they say about gelato being ice cream's second cousin. (Okay, nobody says that, except me). This gelato takes second-place to no one! Every flavor is unique and bursting with... well, flavor. Whether it's their seasonal Xmas Pudding with brandy and dried fruits or their super-delicious Ricotta gelato mixed with different ingredients like truffle and cardamom. Their Pumpkin-Cinnamon version is great- not as great as the Xmas Pudding- and their Coffee Cardamom, Ricotta & Sour Cherry, Chestnut, Rum, & Meringue, and even their typically boring flavors like Hazelnut and Pistachio are not to be missed. A little pricey for ice cream tbh, BUT amazing. Hence why I gave it four stars. It was a cold drizzly London evening and there was still a long line. I guess in London though you barely get sun anyways. The ice cream flavors were so unique! They let you taste some of the flavors but I felt that they were getting annoyed when I asked to try my third flavor. And then felt rushed to select which one I wanted, granted there was a line but I ended up getting the Salted Caramel with roasted almonds (TO DIE FOR. SALTY CARAMEL HEAVEN.) and the coconut, which was ok, but after two bites was wishing I had got something else as it was very plain and didn't taste the strong coconut flavor but more of the shreds, which was great for texture. One scoop is 4£, two scoop is 5£. So clearly got another scoop for one more pound. Make sure when you are ordering that you order the flavor you really want first because they load up the cup with the first flavor and for your second flavor just kind of top the cup off. So I had a ton of coconut and barely any salted caramel. Another issue they don't accept American Express! They should probably have a sign that says which credit cards they accept My dad got the tiramisu flavor and said it was out of this world. Would def go back if I'm in London again!! read more

One of my favorites. Great gelato. Flavors are really good and texture is spot on. I had pistachio (go to), bitter chocolate, & mandarin. The pistachio is great. The chocolate was like biting into a dark chocolate bar. Really rich, really good. And, the mandarin which i think is seasonal tasted true to the flavor, like biting into a ripe sweep mandarin orange. It was really nice. Tasted great all the way to the bottom of the cup. PROS - After downing a bowl of ramen from Bone Daddies, this was just up the street before hoping on the train home. Located down an alley near the red light district, Gelupo serves up incredible gelato. A small is £3, med is £4 and a large is £5. I opted for the large because again, I'm a piggy with a sweet tooth and wanted to try a few flavors. The great thing is that you can get different flavors in a single cup (depends on the size you get as well). I tried the Blood Orange, Pistachio and Raspberry. The Blood Orange was fantastic, just the right amount of tang with the sweet. I already knew the Pistachio would be great (since it's such a gelato flavor classic) but it was even better than I anticipated. I wouldn't get the Raspberry one again however because the tartness paired with the sourness made me feel like I ordered a Sour Patch Kids gelato (I love Sour Patch Kids, so no hate there...but just not right as a gelato flavor). My friend had the Pistachio and Fresh Mint and the flavor when you paired it together was amazing. The mint flavored gelato wasn't what I had in mind -- it literally tasted like FRESH herbal mint. Very refreshing, very nice-- I would order the Mint again for sure. CONS - None. I wish there was one in Richmond! read more

The gelato certainly was tasty, but it seemed a bit expensive. It might be something to do with the conversion rate, but it might just be that they were charging more for a scoop than I had expected. The store up front is tiny, so if it gets busy (which it was when we were there), it can feel very crowded. There wasn't a whole lot of organization that day, either, so people were kind of squeezing past each other to look at the flavors, then squeezing back again to find a place in line. Still, we did enjoy our scoops (I got a double, cuz it was only a bit more than a single - hazelnut and pistachio, while the hubs got a ricotta mixture), and we were back on the streets before too long. Plus, it was in a good location for us at the time - we were wandering around the area, and they were open. We were in London for a week and had dessert everyday trying to find the best gelato. There are many dessert options around Soho/Covent Gardens and concluded Gelupo was our favorite over the 5 days. We liked it so much we went back a second time before we flew out. They make their gelato fresh every morning and change the flavors daily (besides their standard flavors). You have your option of sugar cone or cup with a waffle. My favorite flavor was the Honeycomb (smooth, just enough flavor with crunchy goodness) and Black Forest (dark chocolate & sour cherries). The first night, I got the last honeycomb scoop before it sold out (so if you see a flavor you want, you probably don't want to wait too late in the day). For my two trips to Gelupo, I had 5 scoops and 4 different samples. I didn't try a flavor I didn't like. You can really taste the freshness, smoothness and the powerful, but not overwhelming flavors. Even though the line reached to the back of the cafe and started to curve back around, it went by fast. For Valentine's day, they had a promo - buy one scoop get one free. As much as I wanted to get on this promo (the thriftiness in me), my boyfriend wanted a milkshake so we didn't. I ordered a two scoop cup of espresso & chocolate. The espresso was very bitter, and the chocolate was very sweet so it paired well. My boyfriend ordered the mint and chocolate with rum milkshake. Not my flavour palette but he thoroughly enjoyed it.  I cautiously recommend coming with two or less if you want to sit - otherwise your chances are slim due to the limited number of tables/chairs. read more

I'm super late on my review. But it is what is. I very much enjoyed this little cozy gelato spot! The line was long but moved pretty fast. It's a little pricey, but if you're feeling like indulging then hey why not. I especially love the wafer they put on top. Light crispy and sweet. I wish I had more time, there were so many other flavors I wanted to try. I know it's suppose to melt in your mouth buuut I feel like there was another level of melt in my mouth going on! London heatwave! Yes, such a thing exists even if the frequency of sightings of this rare beast are somewhere between those of a four leaf clover and the Loch Ness monster! On Sunday, as a I wandered through Soho, I remembered Miriam W's FTR for this place and headed there. Jacob Kennedy has had ubiquitous praise for his quirky Italian eatery Bocca di Lupo since opening over a year ago but the only downside was its location in a still slightly seedy street. So he has come up with a good solution - buy one of these dodgy shops across the street from Bocca di Lupo and turn it into a gelateria cum deli, which he can actually keep an eye on from his kitchen in Bocca! Due to the blazing weather, there was a queue coming out of the door on my arrival but to assuage my thirst and for Yelp service, I waited 15 minutes to be served. Like all good gelaterias, there was an anarchic queueing system (ie no queueing system!) and it was hard to see all the flavours available. Perhaps a board with a list of the day's flavours might be helpful. My blood orange granita was appropriately refreshing and I shall be back to sample more flavours. There's a small deli at the back of the shop but the gelatos and granitas are definitely the stars of the shop. read more
