Humble Crumble is not a fumble! Went to the Covent Garden location which consists of a touchscreen to place your order and a small counter next to it to pick it up. I ordered the rhubarb and orange compote with cold custard and was delighted. The crumble had a wonderful shortbread cookie taste and consistency and the compote had enough zest to it to cut through the richness of the crumble and custard. The contrast between the hot filling and cool, creamy, custard was divine. Service was quite quick, just make sure to not sit at the food court area across the street, or they will (politely and gently) kick you out. But overall, the hype is well deserved for Humble Crumble!

Outside & flavor of the month which

We stopped by Humble Crumble for dessert, and it ended up being one of the most memorable treats of the trip! It's kind of like a deconstructed pie. From a kiosk, you choose a warm fruit base (like apple, berry, etc.) and then customize it with your choice of toppings: pie crumbles, ice cream, marshmallow fluff, even a crème brûlée-style finish. And then you pick it up from the counter when they call your name. I was thrilled with mine! It was the flavor of the month and was a rhubarb and berry mix. It was absolutely delicious. Tart, sweet, warm, and perfectly balanced with the crumble and toppings. A few people in our group opted for the classic apple and felt it was a little underwhelming in comparison. So I'd definitely recommend going for one of the seasonal or specialty options if they're available! One of the couples in our group loved it so much, they went back three times in five days. So yeah, it's that good. A must-visit if you're in the area and craving something sweet!

I was so excited to try this place but unfortunately underwhelmed. The crumble is the best part, the fruit component was fine but had full strawberries which made it a bit hard to eat. Did not love the hot custard (kinda flavorless and just a runny mess), and the creme brulee didn't add much either :( took awhile too and was pricey. Would not get again

But inside this shop is an experience all its own. Those of us well into our adult years will still get that proverbial "kid in a candy store" sense when walking into a place like this. The immediate reaction is "I'll take one of everything". The number of choices and sheer number of chocolates displayed in a confined space are both exhilarating and overwhelming at the same time. It was clear from the choices that this was a true artisan shop. In an act of fiscal and dietary restraint, we took away a half-dozen pieces. My wife always compares chocolatiers using their Chocolate Orange Peels (Chocolate Orangettes is what they called them at this place) as a benchmark. This place passed with flying colors. They also offered an intriguing Mango-infused Dark Chocolate with a pipet of Mango compote that you could inject before eating. It was also a highlight. The prices are fair for what this place is and the service is friendly, polite and efficient. If you are meandering up and down Brick Lane, this establishment is worth a stop. If you are a Chocolate fan, then this place is a must-stop. I guess there are people out there who are not chocolate lovers (or at least likers), but that is like not being a fan of oxygen from my perspective. I would like to stop again sometime to try one of the chocolate drinks. We opted to not get one this time on top of the candy pieces we bought to avoid the sugar overload. But they looked amazing from what I saw of others who did indulge.

They had a lot of different types of truffles which looked more simple compared to the fancy chocolate pieces that had little pipettes with flavored purée (which as raspberry & mango). Most of the chocolate seemed to be dark chocolate, lesser amount of milk chocolate, and a few white chocolate pieces. If you're around this store, stop in to grab a sweet treat!

It is strictly takeaway as there is really no place to sit and eat. The small shop is very straightforward with just a deli-like counter from which to see the goods and order. We were there on a very busy Saturday morning. We queued up in a line of people that extended out the door. They were pretty good about keeping the line moving, however, and we placed our order within 6 or 7 minutes of joining the queue. My wife had a Peanut Butter-Filled Plain Bagel, which she liked quite a lot. I had Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese on an Everything Bagel. It was very good. The service was very efficient and reasonably pleasant and the prices were quite fair. We will go back if we ever have the chance to do so in the future.

They are best known for their salt beef bagels. At the front, in their store window, premade salt beef bagels are ready to be fixed with either or both mustard and pickles. Various pastries/desserts are displayed in their counter ready to go. Note: no table seating inside, just counter tops. Ordered : Salt beef bagel- bagel warm, generous amounts of salt beef, mustard, and sliced pickles. The bagel was over slathered with a horseradish mustard, so much, that it overpowered the taste of the beef. Smoked salmon bagel without cream cheese- underwhelming. Bagel was cold and hard. I did not eat the top half of the bagel. Minimal amount of smoked salmon. The girl behind the counter looked like she could care less to be there and wasn't super friendly or helpful. All in all, happy to have tried it, not sure I'd come back again for more ...

I went to the Convent Garden location and had a 2 scoops - one of the Saffron, Pistachio & Rose, and one of the Orange Blossom & Rose. I'm a sucker for Middle Eastern & floral flavors in ice cream. The ice cream is super creamy, and the flavors are perfectly balanced, and not too sweet. I can taste the saffron, rose & orange blossom, but they enrich the ice cream instead of being too light or too floral. I'm not an ice cream person, and I pretty much ate the entire thing on a street corner in Convent Garden, while people passing by gawked a little at an adult woman enjoying ice cream with wild abandon by herself. I think they stared a lot cause I looked so HAPPY. Anyways, def a must try in my book if you are over there. Do go for the interesting flavors, there's kinda no point in going to a place like this and trying their vanilla flavor! IG: teaandcc
