I arrived at Wesley Doughnuts at 8:30 a.m. to see a fairly sparse donut case. The fellow working the counter wasn't friendly, but wasn't exactly grouchy... just kind of there. I ordered an old fashioned glazed cake donut, a chocolate eclair with cream filling, and a vanilla frosted sprinkle donut for my son. I ate the old fashioned first and the taste immediately threw me off, as it was fried in old oil, or something had been fried in the oil that gave off a funky taste. The donut was passable, a bit on the dry side and not as good as the other old fashioned donuts I've tried in Greenville. The chocolate filled eclair was better, notably because it had a delightfully crisp crust on the bottom. However, it still had the funky oil taste, but was much better than the old fashioned. My son loved his frosted sprinkle donut as dessert, so he was happy. I had a tiny bite of it and was put off by the same weird old oil taste, though. I was hoping for a great local gem, but that was not the case with this visit. Hopefully I just caught them on a bad day. If nothing else, their donuts are very cheap. I'll likely give them a shot again on the chance they can turn things around.

The picture that they have on DoorDash when you order a cinnamon roll is very misleading since it looks nothing like the picture. I took a piece off and tried it and it tasted like a glazed donut bit a cinnamon roll. The sausage kolache tasted like it had been sitting in a refrigerator unsealed. Donut Palace is a small, unassuming donut shop somewhat off the beaten path in Greenville. Luckily…read morefor me, it's about a 3 minute drive from my house and is well worth coming back to. I've stopped by twice so far, and service has been quick and pleasant. They have all of your standard donuts, as well as kolaches and breakfast sandwiches. For me, the apple fritter is their standout. At only $2, it's large, crispy, cooked through, and pleasantly sweet. The cinnamon roll is subtly sweet and had the slightest crunch on its crust, quite tasty. The Bavarian cream also has a subtle crisp crust and is filled with a nicely-textured, not too thick sweet cream. Other than those, their old fashioned donuts are their best donuts to me. They have a good crunch on their exteriors and are soft and moist inside. I'd classify their standard cake and glazed donuts as good, solid donuts. Prices are reasonable. On my last visit, I bought a half dozen, an apple fritter, and a sausage kolache for $14 and change. When I go in the future, I'll focus on the standouts. If you're in the area, stop and give them a try!

Two factors make a donut shop for me- the donuts (of course) and the staff. When the person selling you donuts is friendly and proud of the donuts being sold, that makes a great donut taste even better, right? Kim's Donuts has spectacular donuts at very low prices, a friendly owner, and that old, well-worn donut shop vibe. My wife and I stopped in on a recent morning and bought a half dozen donuts, along with some generously thrown in donut holes. We ordered a plain cake donut, an old-fashioned, a mini-cinnamon roll donut, a plain glazed, an apple fritter, and a chocolate frosted sprinkle donut. The plain cake donut, ate early in the morning, was a revelation. It's hard to find a perfectly executed cake donut- subtly crispy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside. Her plain cake donut checked these boxes. Phenomenal. The mini-cinnamon roll donut was delicious. Quality cinnamon, pleasantly sweet, just amazing. The apple fritter was good, as were the donut holes. The others, I shared with my wife and son, who both heartily enjoyed their donuts. If you are anywhere around Commerce and want to savor some awesome donuts, stop by Kim's. This shop is the real deal.

Zero stars are deserved. Im convinced these donuts are purchased frozen and sold thawed. I didn't see a grease trap, so I doubt they're frying pastries in-house. The absolute worst mess I've ever tasted. I'm a huge fan of apple fritters and what I got was a disgrace. It was as hard as a fossil and when I returned it, the clerk tried to explain to me that it was an apple fritter as though I didn't know what I ordered. After some firm protest, she gave me a bag full of glazed donuts for the fossil apple fritter I returned, which were also gross. I don't know how this place is open. NEVER again!
