Kim's Donuts has spectacular donuts at very low prices, a friendly owner, and that old, well-worn donut shop vibe. My wife and I stopped in on a recent morning and bought a half dozen donuts, along with some generously thrown in donut holes. We ordered a plain cake donut, an old-fashioned, a mini-cinnamon roll donut, a plain glazed, an apple fritter, and a chocolate frosted sprinkle donut. The plain cake donut, ate early in the morning, was a revelation. It's hard to find a perfectly executed cake donut- subtly crispy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside. Her plain cake donut checked these boxes. Phenomenal. The mini-cinnamon roll donut was delicious. Quality cinnamon, pleasantly sweet, just amazing. The apple fritter was good, as were the donut holes. The others, I shared with my wife and son, who both heartily enjoyed their donuts. If you are anywhere around Commerce and want to savor some awesome donuts, stop by Kim's. This shop is the real deal.

I ate the old fashioned first and the taste immediately threw me off, as it was fried in old oil, or something had been fried in the oil that gave off a funky taste. The donut was passable, a bit on the dry side and not as good as the other old fashioned donuts I've tried in Greenville. The chocolate filled eclair was better, notably because it had a delightfully crisp crust on the bottom. However, it still had the funky oil taste, but was much better than the old fashioned. My son loved his frosted sprinkle donut as dessert, so he was happy. I had a tiny bite of it and was put off by the same weird old oil taste, though. Well yesterday I made sure to check, and sure enough it was wrong again. I pull back around, and ask if I can change it out for what I had ordered, without looking at what was in the bag the person at the window started arguing with me insisting I had my correct order. Eventually I get what I ordered, and when I look into the bag at the croissant it is the same one I handed over, but they took off the bacon, and eggs to replace it with a cold piece of ham, and cold cheese. I've never made a review on anything good or bad, but after all the headaches I'd like to share with others.
