Inside reminds me of my late nans room, pokey and full of brass-ware .. at the far back of the pub lies a more refined dining area with white table cloths. You can sit either in the pub to soak some local welsh atmosphere or retreat to the back. Arriving at 12 on the dot, already there were a couple of locals having a pint. The barman greeted us warmly and offered to bring our drinks over while we browsed the menu. Here you can choose from the seafood specials board, lunch and their everyday menu. I highly recommend anything that has fish in it as it is all locally sourced... After much oomming and ahhing I settled on the seafood linguine and my companions had the crab fishcakes. When the food arrived I was happy. The amount of seafood in my dish was incredible. Small and large prawns, salmon, smoked haddock, scallops and mussels all swimming in a sea of fresh homemade pasta... the sauce was a flavoursome creamy white broth which was not too dense. Everything just tasted so fresh , even the crab fish cakes served with homemade chips. By the time we were half way through our meal the place was full..again if you want to come here you must book to save disappointment. I wouldn't even know the place existed if it weren't for word of mouth, the place is hidden away off the main road! Considering that I've never seen them advertise, and passing trade must be at a minimum, the place must rely solely on recommendations for happy customers - of which they are sure to have many. I'm a repeat customer usually going for evening meals. Only once have I been disappointed with the quality of the meal, and that happened to be a Sunday afternoon. If you would like a truly delicious evening meal it's very much the place to go, the daytime/weekend staff might not be up to scratch, or perhaps, it was just an off-day. The food isn't cheap, but neither is it outrageously expensive. You pay a few quid more than some alternatives, sure, but you get good value for money.

This village pub does serve as a nice starting point before heading down into town though. Many locals will stay there all night. The food and drink is reasonably priced. There's also a decent selection of drinks on offer considering this is a small village pub that focuses mainly on the food side of the business. The beer garden is fantastic in summer, four picnic tables on a grassy area, there's also a childrens play area to keep the kids happy too. A very family friendly pub during the day. There's also a generously sized car park. Not really necessary in most pubs, but this is one that you'd gladly drive to just for a meal. The car park is never empty, but you'll usually have no trouble finding a space. Highly recommended for food, not ideal for a large group of lads/girls on a night out though.

We saw the bartender (whom I didn't catch his name) & we had a couple of questions but he kindly answered each & every one of them. Having two vegans from my party & myself being vegetarian, the chef & bartender were helpful in providing us their options. Once we placed our order my sister brought to my attention that they open at 12 though we were inside at 11:50. It was so kind of the two gents to help us & provide us with extremely great service. There are a few pubs surrounding the market place that gives the city this reputation, but one pub that's the exception is the Albert Inn on Segontium Terrace. I live on the same street and have been into this pub more than any other in the city, and walked past it most nights as well, and my opinion of the pub is that it's an old-fashioned quiet but friendly little pub that's full of character. The pub is old-fashioned in style but nicely decorated - with wooden floors and beams and wooden tables and chairs and bar. There's a pool table that takes up one half of the front of the pub, and a cosy area in front of a real fire in the other half. The bar itself is towards the back, along with some more seating. There's a variety of drinks available and prices are reasonable. There's a smoking area outside the back door which is excellent as it means there isn't anybody stood outside the front door smoking - I think even the nicest of pubs are affected by this image. Despite being English, I've never felt threatened in here and the regulars are all really friendly and chatty towards me.

If you're after a good feed, a nice drink and fast and efficient service then this is the place to go.
