Auburn location must be closed. Went buy and all the pamphlets outside are weathered. No sign on the door stating what's up, nothing I could find on the internet that said it was closed. Waste of a trip. read more

I needed to rent a snowboard for my son's first snow trip and Corey was amazing! They had a great selection and had us ready to go in no time. Thanks! The service and prices were amazing! We saved s much money renting from them rather than where he is going to go boarding. read more

My wife dearly wanted to rent a Kayak for a day, this review is just about the rental process - AWESOME!! I called and spoke with Guy, turns out to be the owner. He is holding two 1-person recreational Kayaks to be picked up one day, used the next, and returned the next. Guy opted to not charge all three days (we are going Sunday-Tue), it was not an expected consideration on my part. The Kayaks are being held with just with my name and phone number, who on earth does that any more? If my wife opts to buy...I am certain this is where that will happen. The rates were already more then reasonable!! Thank you for an awesome over the phone rental experience Guy. read more

Replaced my broken snowboard ankle strap with a used one! Several other stores were NO help at all. Now I can use my board TODAY! read more

Snow Mountain Rentals - Awesome guy from Snow Mountain fixing my old binding. - Paddleboarding Near Me - Auburn, California

Snow Mountain Rentals - Paddleboarding Near Me - Auburn, California

Guy and his staff are the best. Before we came to his shop, we tried to get a pair of boots fitted to my husbands skis at a sports basement in Sunnyvale. After waiting in line at sports basement for an hour, sports basement was not willing to make a 5 second adjustment to my husbands skis. They refused to even point us in the right direction and instead pushed us to buy a new pair of skis. On our way to Tahoe we stopped by snow mountain rentals where Guy and his staff not only helped us fit my husbands boot, but my daughter's boots as well. Not only did they offer great service, but they didn't even bother to charge us. Great shop, with great people. This is how a business should be run. Support your local shops instead of large corporations like sports basement. read more

Shout out to Ben, this guy was a massive plug and was extremely easy going. We came in on a Friday morning and he jumped in to help fit us with boots and boards. He was extremely knowledgeable and down to earth. 10/10 would recommend again! -Lawrence read more

Funky as its get, very low tech and disorganized, $30 for a junior package without helmet (extra $5) didn't seem much of a deal but the gear was nice and the dudes were mellow and helpful read more

I've researched all other rental options (in the Sacramento to Tahoe area) and this place beats them all with their season long kids rentals! If you do daily rentals and go more than once a season this is a no brainier. It is a fraction of the cost and you don't have to deal with the hassle of getting skis every trip. Also, this is significantly less expensive and less complicated then other ski leases I've explored. Guy and Mike did a solid and professional job. They outfitted both my kids with skis, poles, boots for the entire season. The quality of the gear was much better than many other places and they immediately took the skis to get a fresh coat of wax! This place is a well run family friendly shop, Guy even gave my kids a bag of salt water taffy. read more

It was Sunday evening, and I was desperately searching for a place where I could rent snowshoes bright and early on Monday morning. Alas, all the places I found online were either closed on Mondays, or didn't open until 10. I though I would have to drive all the way to Truckee or Tahoe and then backtrack before I could hit the trail. Snow Mountain must have been the 10th place I called, and I expected either no answer or another recording with unhelpful business hours. But a live person answered the phone! It turns out that Yahoo has these folks' home number listed as their business number, and I'd called Snow Mountain's owners at home. (Don't call the number Yahoo has listed! Call the number above or visit their website!) Despite being bothered at home on Easter evening, the woman could not have been more gracious. She told me that yes they're open early on Mondays, and yes they rent snowshoes. Woohoo! Snow Mountain is right off the freeway in Auburn, and easy to find. The owner was very friendly and helpful. There were several other people there ahead of me, but I didn't have to wait long at all. He got me set up with a good pair of snowshoes, showed me how to work the bindings, gave us directions to a great nearby trail, and we were back on the road within minutes. Snow Mountain also rents skis, snowboards and other equipment, and has a huge inventory. The owner manages to give each customer individual attention without neglecting anyone else, and he makes sure that you have the right equipment. The hours are convenient, and returning the equipment was as easy as renting it. I will definitely be back, and I would reccomend this place to anyone renting snowshoes, snowboards, or skis. read more

I came in for gloves and saw all the boards that they were selling outside. They look almost new and well taken care of. I ended up buying a board and Guy was really helpful in switching the bindings and waxing my board. The boards were a great deal as well! Great customer service! And you can get all your snow necessities from here, either buy or rental! I would definitely come back. read more

Thanks, Snow Mountain, for great service and great advice! We dropped in to rent snowshoes and were back on the freeway in less than 20 minutes, armed with some solid gear, advice about snow conditions, and recommendations for where to park & hike. Multiple store employees pitched in with their own stories, and upon our return, made sure to ask if we had had a good experience (and whether we made it to the top of the mountain)! read more

I got great service and advice with very helpful staff. Len even called me at home to make sure that I knew that they would be happy to check my setting on my skis for free if I brought in a boot. read more

This place is only open from Friday to Monday...as in over the weekend. I went there today (Wednesday, 12/17) after I looked it up on yelp which said it was open today from 10:30a-6p. I drove up and the "open" sign was on. Got out my boards for a tune up (it was raining) and went to open the door only to find it closed. I called and it said it would only be open Friday-Monday until the season picked up. I would say it has considering we have had two big storms the last two weeks. read more

We come to CA every year or so to see family. Sometimes we head to Tahoe for a couple days of skiing. We've rented there, and then this year we tried Snow Mountain. So happy we did! Excellent, friendly service. Excellent prices and much less expensive than renting on the mountains. We will definitely use them again. read more

I just took my kids up for their 1st time snowboarding. I didn't want to rent from San Jose, and I did not want to rent from the ski area. I saw the reviews Yelp and thought I'd give these guys a try. Leonard, Chris and Guy were super helpful. They were able to get the perfect setup for everyone ranging from my 10 year old up to the old guy dragging some nuckles again after 14 years. We got quality boards, boots and helmets and had a blast on the mountains. The prices are great, they easy to get to from the freeway and I will definitely be renting from them again on my next trip. read more

Best customer service for anything you need for the slopes! The owner and staff are incredibly helpful, super easy going, and down right friendly. We got so many referrals from our friends that this is the place to get your skis waxed and tuned up; they were right! They were so helpful that my husband and I bought new skis! Great bargain too; so much more friendly than bigger stores! No need to rent equipment down at the cities when this place is right off of hwy 80! Very convent! They even let us borrow their rentals without charging us while our new skis are being fitted with bindings! Can't recommend them enough! read more

Great service and equipment for our winter vacations. This was the second time, this joyously white winter in Tahoe. Our solution is to stay in Auburn and drive to the resorts each day. Lovely accommodations (Holiday Inn) and more affordable. From there we rent from Snow Mountain. Great staff, meeting our needs. Thanks! See you next year. read more

The owner is an absolute jerk. We went in to get some used cross country ski gear. We called ahead he said he wouldn't look at the used boot sizes before we came out. So we drove out. We got there were ignored by the staff working there and then the owner was extremely rude. We found some used pair that he keeps outside in the rain so they were mold smelling and wet. We offered him $30 bucks and he told us $50 and then walked away telling us if we haggle the price goes up. What an absolute dbag. Luckily people like this old ball bag will die off eventually in the age of information and we won't have to deal with the anymore. read more

Extensive shop with a laid back vibe. Don't let the vibe fool you though, they mean business! Shout out to Josh for the killer work on my board, always a great time here. read more

Stopped by for tune up. Lisa did while I waited. Great job. Great customer service. Great price.

Conveniently located off the freeway, the owner Guy and staff Len are a pleasure to work with. They provided that "old fashioned" service and helpful advice. They're enthusiasm and passion for the great outdoors is clearly infectious. The shop is stocked with quality equipment that has been certified "Guy approved" -- I have learned to trust Guy's judgement on gear selection. Quality equipment is key to enjoying the snow. If they stock it, you can rely on it. Look forward to years of business with Snow Mountain. read more

Great service. Called to advised running late due to traffic delays, 4.5 hours drive 64 miles thru Tahoe, closed at 6pm, but stayed late to receive skis, 7.55pm arrived then offered a "free" rental for an unused rental next time! New meaning to customer service! Look forward to future rentals! Thanks Snow Mountain Ski Rentals for adding to our great Tahoe family experience! Happy new year!! Best, Joe read more

I love this place. Just got back into skiing after 20 years. Guy, the owner I believe, knows his stuff. He hooked me up with skies, and they were exactly what I was wanting. Guy asks a lot of questions and makes sure he's giving you what your after. I highly recommend the shop. read more

We have rented here three times and every time we have saved money over renting at the resorts. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Best of all, when we were trapped up in Tahoe and they closed I 80, they didn't charge us for the extra time. Will definitely be back! read more

The owner was so helpful. If he didn't have something, he'd recommend a shop that did. It was such a pleasure visiting his store that we had this urge to buy something even if we didn't need it. read more

If you're taking Hwy 80 and don't want to rent equipment at the resorts, stop here! I decided at the very last minute to go skiing with zero equipment. I searched Yelp for a while to find a place on the route to Tahoe that was along Interstate 80 and had inexpensive rentals. Snow Mountain was perfect--they're right off the highway (across the highway from Ikeda's for those of you who know that spot). I got in and out in about 35 minutes and rented a pair of skis for $25 and everything else I needed for good rental prices. I also bought some gloves and goggles and appreciated that they didn't try to oversell me. To top it off, they had a second-hand helmet in pristine condition that would've cost over $200 new and they sold it to me for $65. Leonard helped the most and he was great but all three people in the store were helpful. read more

This is my first choice for all my snow related needs. I'm a member of the CHS snowboard team and they always take care of whatever I need. Len is the most helpful person ever. Great service and great prices. I highly recommend for rentals and tune ups!

Nice shop. Stopped by on the way up to the mountains to rent cross country skis. Convenient on and off the freeway; good vibe.

I had a great experience there! The service was excellent and very knowledgable. The owner Ed went above and beyond spending almost 2 hours educating me about snowboarding since I'm new to the sport. I just can't say enough good things about the customer service and quality of gear which is hard to come by these days! read more

Highly recommend! Came across Snow Mountain online while searching for a seasonal snowboard rental for my 14 year old. When I talked to the owner on the phone I asked if he also had ski boots. Mine were ill-fitting and I have been on the lookout for new boots, not wanting pay full price for another new pair. He told me to bring in all my gear and he would see what he could do. I walked out with a seasonal snowboard rental for my daughter, traded in my ski boots for a great pair that someone else had barely used AND have the best pair of skis I have ever skied on. Staff is super helpful and I am able to go skiing and snowboarding with my daughter without spending a fortune! Thank you, Snow Mountain!! read more
