This was a fun moderate to easy hike, adding the white river trail to make a loop that was just over 4 miles, not too busy on a Thursday afternoon, the falls themselves starting to twindle down, talking with sone fellow local hikers, they were much robust a few weeks ago, making the crossing below the falls not possible, which was easy and cool now, easy walk across the rocks on either side. Trail signage was great! Lots of work being done on the trail to the falls, made it even easier. Plenty of zig zags going up and back down, as the mountain is steep, but the zigs were very moderate, well mapped out trail for ease. Definitely worth adding the loop in past the falls. The huge old growth Douglas firs were amazing to see! Pictures can't do them justice, like sequoias they need to be seen up close. Towards the bottom and near the Boy Scout camp the miss covers the forest floor like a big green shag carpet, pretty cool! Some wildlife to be seen, a coyote passing through and a bushy tailed wood rat scampering through the rocks. Some of the trail does go through some old rockslide areas, but easily traversable. A fun and scenic hike along the 410 highway, exploring more of the amazing state of Washington. Happy hiking! Cheers! read more
