December 2012 - Have to amend my review. Now that Gary has moved over to Cathedral City (Desert Barbershop), there's no reason to go back to Snip Snip. So glad he got out of here! Snip Snip Buzz feels like your favorite barbershop the second you walk in the door. I've been coming here now for 4 years and won't go anywhere else. Even though Palm Springs is a weekend place for me, I won't get my hair cut in L.A. ever again - well at least not as long as Gary is cutting hair here! I have been to Jonathan (in the second chair from the window) for three haircuts now. He is very thorough and does a stellar job. I have been recently wearing a high and tight and he nailed it. He does not work every day so you may want to call and find out his hours. Recently he has been working Saturdays AND Sunday evening which can be very convenient. I've been going to Sylvia and Jennifer at SnipSnipBuzz for a few years now. They're excellent barbers and couldn't be nicer people! Before that, I used a few of the other barbers at SnipSnipBuzz, who I felt were adequate to good, but I'm almost always pleased with the cuts I get from the mother/daughter team of Sylvia and Jennifer. They only work in the evening, which is a bummer when I sometimes want to get my hair cut during the day, but I'm willing to adjust my schedule for a good haircut. SnipSnipBuzz isn't fancy or trendy, but it's clean, reasonably priced, and gets the job done. read more

I waited almost an hour, but needed a haircut badly. I described my very simple hair cut and could tell immediately the woman had no formal training. There was no system, no precision, no anything. I could've done it better myself. There is not one area on my head where adjoining hair is the same length. I am going to give myself a buzz with clippers, so all will be at the same length. Consider yourself warned, I've had a messed up haircut a couple of years ago and I let it slide. This past weekend My husband went here to have his faux-hawk trimmed up. The lady proceeded to scalp him and only leave a little pile of hair at the very front of his head. She apologized and said "oh you wanted to keep the back?". I walked in wrote my name on the sign in sheet and sat down. After 50 minutes, it was my turn or so I thought. I was told no. Don placed a man who had called after I arrived in front of me. I live in Palm Springs full time. I get my hair cut every two weeks. The man who cut in front of me stated that he was leaving for the summer. So let me think, you just lost a good loyal paying customer for someone who will be in town for another two weeks. WOW! Not a good experience. read more

This was the absolute worst haircut experience in my entire life. I brought my three school age boys in for cuts. These boys are well mannered, quiet, and know how to behave in a place of business. And I was greeted with absolute disdain by the owner, I believe, at the sight of them. I was spoken to very rudely about how they should behave in the salon, siting insurance issues. Now mind you, they were all three sitting quietly next to me while we were waiting their turn. I had the youngest step outside to allow an older gentleman to have a seat while he waited. The barber in charge went on about how he should be sitting down outside, not standing. He was really doing nothing. The man was so rude to him that he began to cry, quietly outside. so I stayed out there with him for a bit. When I went inside to the other two boys, the barber called for whoever I wanted to go first. The oldest declined the haircut all together at that time, saying he was very uncomfortable. I was fine with that. The youngest, outside was already upset, so I opted not to force him into the chair because of the mans harsh and rude behavior. So the "lucky" middle child went to the chair of torture and doom. Boy I really wish I had taken those boys and left, but I really think I was in shock over the experience. During my sons haircut, the man continued to be snippy snappy in his every word. A very angry, bitter man, it seemed. Even while he cut my sons hair, he had the balls to criticize my hair, saying it was excessively dry looking. He went on to tell me that he "knew" that I must be drying it wrong. (I air dry my hair), and then it must be abuse from rough towel drying (I know better), and must be over processed (I spend a lot of time in the sun and pool, but why should I even have to hear his unsolicited opinion?) My poor son looked terrified to be in the chair, but hopefully it would be a decent haircut. All the while, this man seemed very chipper and normal when he interacted with the men that seemed to be "regulars". I determined that he hated children. I wish he would just post a sign expressing that he served only adults, and I would have avoided this whole disturbing experience with my three boys. Will they be horrified to go for haircuts for the rest of their lives? Thankfully not, because I explained that this man must be very unhappy, and they should hope that he feels better soon. I really do not recall my sons haircut being either good nor bad, mostly because I just wanted to leave. I paid and tipped a 15% tip. Mostly so he would not have anything more to add to his bitch fest. Needless to say, I cannot believe the whole episode went the way it did. I still have a sick stomach while writing about it. I would never go back or recommend this place to anyone, with or without children. I am appalled that a professional would behave this badly, even if they were having a bad day. And I am in the service industry myself, so I know how too speak to customers. I am proud of my boys for the way they all handled the experience. I wish I had left when all of his nonsense started. But luckily all three of my sons have had good experiences at other shops and salons here in the desert. I still cringe whenever I drive by Snip Snip Buzz Buzz... This all happened a couple of years ago, but I just got on Yelp, and it was the first thing I wanted to post. I hope that this man is either feeling better, or has learned to be civilized at his job. I have been getting my hair cut at Snip Snip Buzz for several years now. I followed Lisa there from another salon that she left before going to SSB. Lisa always gives me a great cut! Carol has cut my hair on several occassions and did a great job as well. Even though Lisa usually cuts my hair, Carol always talks with me like a friend would. Love those two women!! What I like about this place is that all the barbers know me by name. When I walk in, everyone acknowledges me and makes me feel right at home. It's always such a pleasure to walk in that place and be treated so well. I live in Sun City Palm Desert and do not mind the drive into Palm Springs just to see them. I was recently informed that Gary will no longer be working at this shop and as a result I WILL NOT BE BACK!!! Despite one disgruntled customer's Yelp comment (Evangelos A. on 9/22/2012), I need to say that Gary has been cutting my hair FOR OVER 5 YEARS(usually twice a month) and I have always been please with the results and personal conversations. I will be following Gary to a new location and hope that his many other previously satisfied customers will do the same. You only need to review how many customers specifically request (and wait for) Gary on the shop's sign-up lists to see his popularity. If the management at SnipSnipBuzz used the Yelp comments from just one "new customer" to make its pesonnel decisions, they've just lost out on a great deal of repeat business from loyal local customers! read more

Now regular customers we both get our haircut every two weeks. He is very particular about his hair and keeps it short on top, shaved at the ears and neckline and blended on the sides and in back. He knows exactly what he wants and wants it done in a certain way - obsessing over exact lengths and precision lines. I'm the opposite. The type who just sits down in the chair and says please make me look good. My last haircut Sylvia gave me a regulation low, left extra-long on top (custom cut for my face and type of hair). It's something I would never have known to ask for and I couldn't be happier. I just got back from the haircut I did not get after waiting 40 minutes on a Sunday morning with two lady barbers cutting hair. Two gents were already waiting in front of me. While I was sitting there waiting each of the ladies received a short phone call. Meanwhile they finished their customers and took the next person in line. Then while I was still sitting there two more men arrived one by one. The first barber took one of those men, instead of me, without explanation. I figured he was the person who had called her for a reservation and I said nothing. Then when the second barber finished her customer she took the other late arrival and looked at me and said "he called in." At that point I got up and left the barber shop. I will never return. That's no way to run a business. Moreover, the men who "bumped" me have to be arrogant people who figure they are better than others. SnipSnipBuzz lost a customer. read more
