First time visitor to snipsnipbuzz. Have driven by many times but finally stopped to get a buzz cut. Parking right out front as its 20 minute parking. Walked in and there were four people waiting but I later found out people wait for their favorite barber. That worked out for me as Don summed me to a open chair and went to work. Well, it was my first experience here. Let me just say that they snipped snipped and buzzed a wee bit too much. Despite the shorter than desired or expected haircut, it was well executed and looks OK. It will take some time to adjust to the new look, but I respect the quality of their technical skills. Worst haircut I've had in a while. Not because it was a bad cut it was the employees in the shop. Cranky complaining about everyone and everything. Then tells me this is what you are getting or go to a salon I don't do that. It was a haircut I wasn't asking g for anything difficult a spiked messy look. He said no. I remember why I quit going there. The older man who seems to run the place is way too touchy-feely. I had gone a couple of times after when a friend of mine worked there for a very short time and then again for a great lady barber. This last time was way too uncomfortable. The older man kept putting his leg up on the foot rest and rubbing against me which I pretended to ignore. Once I paid the bill he started closing up. I said something like, "Time to head home?" So here's the deal. I used to come down to PS 5-10 times a year. Sometimes for a tennis tournament, sometimes for business, and sometimes just to hang by my pool. A mandatory trip to my barber is usually last on my pre-travel itinerary. I like to look as clean and neat as possible when I get into town. As luck can have it from time to time, I can't get a appointment or I simply run out time before my plane leaves. About 2 1/2 years ago a friend recommended Snip Snip Buzz. And trust me, he's anal! He could sit on an ice cream cone and tell you the flavor! So of course I went. I was assisted by the lovely Carol. Now I've been to barbers since I was a tike, but never in my life have I sat in a chair for 25-30 minutes for clippers! I'll be honest, the first time Carol snipped and buzzed, I thought she might be new! Nope. And never confuse brevity with ability. Though she had 2 clients specifically waiting her, her eyes never left my head. She was communicative, funny, kind and unobtrusive all at the same time. Needless to say, being from a metropolis like San Francisco I'm always in the hands of the most skilled barbers. But I have to admit, Carol gave me one of the most classic and well crafted cuts to date. Work has made me a full-time resident of Palm Springs for a year now, so I'm fortunate enough to see Carol on a monthly basis. However, up until about a year ago, I actually found myself coordinating my cuts with my travel to the desert. I recently found out I wasn't alone, where it came to Carol and the rest of the staff!! There have been times when I've needed a last minute cut and had forgot her schedule. Lucky for me her colleagues are equally as accommodating, and precise. Thank you Carol! Doug has been cutting my hair for a few years now. He does a fantastic job every time I go in. Sit in the chair for 30 min and get a professional job done. The price is right too. Conservative cuts, not the shaved, sculpted cuts you see at the "modern shops" that make you look like something from a different planet. She is not only very unprofessional at what she is doing she doesn't know how to deal with her customers and recommend someone talking to her about how to deal with customers. One of the worst haircut I have ever received in my life. He never introduced his name.( I heard someone call him Gary) I said I wanted a fade, He said he was doing fades since the 60's. OHH NOO It was more like he learned how to do a fade 60 minutes ago not since the 60's. He also name dropped Vidal Sassoon (my generation doesn't even know who he is, it sounds lame and nobody cares) Also when getting a haircut ask your client how they are. (this business is a customer service industry be polite) So I said to him how long you been living in desert? I think he said 8 years, I said, "Do you like it?" he said, "I hate it". SUPER. He exuded a nice loser attitude. He said he wished he was back in NY doing hair or Florida. Well he should do the desert a favor and move back. It takes me a while to find a decent barber in a new area, mostly because I'm in the Marine Corps and have to get them weekly. It's amazing how hard it is to find someone who can do a solid military fade and is also open on Sundays, and snipsnipbuzz may be the only such shop in Palm Springs. The barber is a bit more expensive than the ones I was used to in San Diego (and certainly more so than the military-specialty barbers near bases like Twentynine Palms), which can hurt when you are required to have a fresh one each Sunday by your command. He does a damn good job, though, using a Norelco instead of a straight razor and doing a solid skin fade at least as good as anything I've ever gotten. The bottom line is, despite the price, this is pretty much my new barber shop. And for the military folks: this is the only one in downtown Palm Springs I've found to be open on Sunday. read more

I just moved to Palm Springs and was looking for a barber close by so I tried them out. Just asked for a medium skin fade. Note, they have a huge sign in the window that says fades, which is lit up. Not only did I not get a skin fade which I asked for, I then asked for a line up in the front and she said she isn't good at them and couldn't do it. After that all I could think was how fast I wanted to get out of this place and run. If you are in need of a basic trim with nothing special then this might be the place for you. But if you need a fade I would run far from this place. Just wasted $20 and 30 minutes of my time and had to go find another barber to fix my cut. Horrible experience. read more

I'm as thrill seeker and like to play Barber Shop Roulette, so when I stumbled into this shop I was pleasantly surprised. Very Clean, Polite, Great location, Good Barbers. I like this place a lot. They will keep your info on their computer so once you've been there and you are a moron that can't remember that you like a #3 cut with the back faded, they know what to do for you. There are different Barbers but all are good at their craft. One thing to remember "Its a hair cut" not brain surgery. Hair grows back, at least for some of us. read more

It offers excellent hours and niceties such as a clipboard on which you can place your name, so that you don't have to stress your turn. You may also call in to put your name on the list. Carol did a great job! I watched someone else get a cut, and I really liked the work she did for his style. Very handsome! So I told her to do mine like his except for this and that. When she showed me the mirror, she separated out each section: How do you like the top, how do you like the sides, and how do you like the back? Then she tweaked each one! The wait was a bit long but I took my son in for a haircut and I suppose it was not too bad for a Sunday afternoon and no appointment made. My son is very picky with his hair and will definately be honest with who cuts it. He came out extremely happy and said he will definately want to come back. I'm the type of person that it will be Friday afternoon and I feel I need a haircut. Which usually causes me frustration when I can't get it at that moment. I walked in and all three barbers that were working looked up to greet me. Added my name to the list, 10 minutes later I was in Don's chair. I liked that he was conservative on his first pass with the clippers so there was room to go down shorter. Also got my beard trimmed to match the length. All haircuts from all of the cutters are always the same, much shorter than you ask for. Perhaps this is fine for the older bears with crew cuts, but not so good for anyone else. There are signs all over the place, almost to to point of being downright rude, about washing your hair the way the owner wants it washed. Based on his signs, I figure he is a weird pervert that sits at home watching everybody from the security cameras installed - yes security cameras in a barber shop - go figure. Great little shop- (and nice people) but it's too bad each time I go I am not sure what to expect (even if you get the same barber the quality of the cut varies significantly) So if you have a black tie dinner to go to- you had better go someplace else to get your hair cut. Walked in with no apt. Greeted by a very nice lady and I think daughter. Ask how I wanted my haircut and cut it to order. It shows she loves what she does as she take hee time and is a very precise on keeping all the lines straight in even. Does a wonderful job with a straight razor.
