My boyfriend got his hair absolutely butchered at Snip2Curl. Based on a recommendation from local longtime customers, he went in with reference photos of the shag he was looking for. However, rather than just admitting she didn't know how to do the cut so he could go somewhere else, she argued with him about what he wanted and insisted on doing it how she wanted to. He came in with loooong hair, but left with a shoulder-length haircut that looks nowhere even close to the reference photos. The only mercy is that she left enough length left for someone more skilled to fix the cut. i normally dont leave reviews, but wanted to share my experience. i walked in for a hair cut and the stylist there was sammi who i had read good reviews about and was excited. she was in the middle of another hair cut so i sat and waited. when i got into the chair she started complaining about the prior customer and told me to not be like them. i explained i wanted to keep length but cut off dead ends and add layers and she said she wouldnt be able to keep length and started telling me that my hair is damaged gross and that she needs to wash it before she can cut it. i have really curly hair and i prefer them to cut it dry. i also have extremely healthy hair. i was uncomfortable so i decided to go else where. i got the vibe that the stylist just wants to cut it their way and thats not how i like it. read more

I'm really surprise this salon has so many high ratings. I came here because I thought they would know how to delicately and intentionally cut my hair (curly) to fit my face. Winnie and I discussed only cutting an inch off, she definitely cut more than an inch. She also talked to fast and much that she didn't spend much time on my hair. She told me oh I'm going to wash you, she didn't tell me a wash was an additional amount of money. I paid $85 for a hair cut that lasted maybe 25 minutes, as she was trying to rush so she could get in other clients. She poorly washed and conditioned my hair, used a brush you should not use for curly hair and honestly since I have I showered, and style it it is not fitting nor sits in a way that looks good on me. I'm embarrassed by my hair and genuinely feel self conscious. These ladies are just trying to rush, get through haircuts as quick as possible it feels for money, and don't care to take a moment to assess your hair, before or while they are cutting it. Winnie also kept combing her finger through my hair when dry, it messed up my curls. Winnie also complimented her skills way too much, without asking me what I thought. These people know little to nothing about curling hair. Although, maybe they do better with men's hair. I will not be returning here. read more

My hopes for a decent curly cut at Snip2curl. As anyone with curly hair knows, finding a competent curly hair stylist is a tad challenging. There's a difference between curly and straight hair cut techniques. And there are many sub types of curly hair to understand. There is a lot to know and I did not sense that understanding here. The cut I got has made my curls split into little curly strings and bush out without definition. :( And there is moisture loss. It's a mess. 5-star reviews are not the whole story at any time. Lesson learned! Plus, although I didn't have a partial highlight booked, Winnie says and what about highlight, i can do. I had high hopes.When it was finished she was all pleased and I was trying to appreciate it but I figured I would restyle it and it would be okay. But no it wasn't. My curls did not form as before. And the color was so bad. At least a decent partial could have brightened things for a while it grew again. The pics are two weeks, one- day after visit. The color is weighted more to one side of the head, orangey instead of blonde and did not even cover my prior roots. Not the work of an experienced Colorist. Vibe: unpleasant. salon is like Grand Central. Appointments are for show. All walk ins are taken. " Yes, sit, sit, we can take you now, sit." Those with appointments had to wait too saying", how much longer will it be! On man took charge over his service giving directions watching every cut she made, questioning and checking it all until he was satisfied enough. No I do not recommend. read more

I went to Winnie with extremely damaged permed hair that was no longer curly, and wanted to digital perm to revitalize. She was wary about damaging my hair more, so did hair strand tests and determined we can go ahead. I have a lot of hair (like needing 2-3X the curlers and material), and she patiently did all of it, including stay late after closing. My hair felt so much healthier and bouncier, and my waves are better than it's ever been before, including from more pricey salons. I appreciated her being honest with me about what is or is not appropriate for my hair health and needs, and doing tests. Another time I came in because I tried to dye my own hair, and thought it came out blotchy so rushed to her to fix. She ended up saying I actually did a good job and it wasn't necessary to re-dye it--I just needed to dry it thoroughly (oops). After it dried all the way, I realized everything looked fine! I appreciated that she was honest and didn't take advantage of my distress and damage my hair more. Another note--when I was sitting for the perm for many hours, there was a continuous stream of regular customers, including someone who moved out of town after being a decade long customer but still wait until he's back in town to get hair done because he trusts her the most. I think that's a huge testament to Winnie that so many people come back. Now I consider myself one of them! So I needed a haircut real bad, like real bad. I called this place and made an appointment with Winnie. I came here today and OMG!!!! Winnie was absolutely freaking amazing!!! She did exactly what I wanted and didn't cut too much length off. She washed and cut my hair exactly how I wanted. She straightened my hair as well. She also gave me some free hair scissors to in case I wanted to trim my own hair. Winnie was just great. I FINALLY found a great hair stylist in the city. And it's very close to where I live. My hair was cut dry, is a bit wonky, and at the end my hair was cut without the cape so I was left covered in tiny itchy hairs. I have spent years growing out my hair and not applying heat etc - basically doing everything I can to keep it healthy and long. Sammie ruined my hair today. She forgot I had an appointment and did not have any time to wash my hair first and decided to cut it dry without even spraying my hair. I have wavy hair and this led to the ends being uneven and looking sheared and frayed. I also told her what I wanted clearly in the beginning (the same haircut I've gotten for 10+ years). She does not listen and continued doing what she felt. I just wanted a small trim, 1 inch, and some bangs. She refused to give me the style of bangs I wanted and said it wasn't going to work for my hair type. She kept saying that the way she was cutting my hair would keep it detangled and continued to cut more off. She would make comments about split ends when in reality every other hair stylist has told me I have very healthy hair. She was very heavy handed and I got a headache from her dragging her fingers roughly and not caring about how this was yanking my hair. I wish I had walked away sooner. It went horribly. I saw half of my hair on the floor, my beautiful length was gone and my hair felt thin, frayed at the ends and I was devastated. When it was done, she offered to wash my hair only because her next customer canceled on her and I declined because I did not want it to turn out any worse. When I needed a cut & blow out on my birthday she did a great job in my cut & listened to my describe the different ways I wear my hair so my cut would be great for all the styles, curly, straight or up. This isn't the normal type of place I would frequent, but I'm really glad I gave them a shot. I called up and Winnie answered the phone. She had time to fit me in for baby lights and a cut. I walked over and was pleased with my whole experience. Winnie listed to what I was dosatisfied with and my hair goals. She made recommendations and ultimately fixed me right up! I decided to color my almost black hair bright blue during covid. It left me bleached hair that was trashed. I'd previously tried to hide it by coloring the bleached part back to my natural color but there was a sharp line. Winnie took it in stride and successfully blended my hair into a natural look!
