I forgot my sneakers at home and I had to buy a pair because I was going hiking with my girlfriend. I normally buy them at the New Balance outlet in Brighton. Anyway I went in and looked around a little for some New Balance shoes because I have wide feet. I found a pair which were on sale. At that point a really sweet salesgirl came up to help me. I told her my size and she set out to find me a pair. I really enjoyed being waited upon for once. They were out of my size unfortunately but she immediately suggested another brand that is width sized as well. It was about $10 more than the other brand but were a better model. I appreciated that she didn't try to sell me a shoe which was $20 or $30 more. I wound up with a great pair of shoes and a really nice shopping experience. This was recommended by a friend who had great experience in the past. Brought my 92 year old mom for sneakers post foot surgery because Sneakerama was recommended for the way they fit shoes and assessed gait. A young sales person recommended a specific sneaker after measuring my mom for size and width. The sneakers were too small and they did not have the next size up so he brought the following size. They were too big and her heal was coming out of the back of the shoe. He didn't acknowledge that and stated several times they did not have a size smaller. I asked if they had anything else and he didn't reply but left us to wait on other customers. My husband who was also there saw that an older man who he assumed was a supervisor or owner direct our sales person to wait on the other customers. Needless to say, I was very disappointed at how dismissive they were having traveled 40 minutes to get to this place of business. We left after it was obvious no one was willing to help us. The service is phenomenal and the knowledge of the staff is impressive. A friend (workout junkie who replaces her sneakers annually or more) recommended I shop here for sneakers about 5 years ago. After my first visit, I was hooked. I just bought my third pair there in 5 years, and I will not shop anywhere else for sneakers as long as I live in MA. In addition to wanting to get you a proper fit in a sneaker you find comfortable, they also want to be sure the sneaker is appropriate for how you will be using it. They started by asking what activities I'd be doing in the sneakers and any foot issues I had, and then they pulled several varieties off the shelf and described the differences between them and why they might be the appropriate shoe for me. They really know their stuff (not just the marketing buzz). Additionally, they are incredibly patient. I'm the kind of person who needs to try something on 3 or 4 times before making a decision, and they really are not phased by that, since they want you to be comfortable and happy with your purchase. As a cheap individual, and someone who likes to look good, I have historically bought sneakers based more on price and appearance than on comfort and compatibility. Recently I've had some knee problems and decided to bite the bullet and buy a legitimate pair of sneakers that might offer the support that I need. Great, family owned store. Really impressed with their super attentive, yet not pressuring service. They are clearly really knowledgeable and eager to share their expertise to help you find the right fit for your needs (I have flat feet so needed a shoe with good arch-support). Wide selection of styles and prices. I'm not a runner, but have seen them on their "fun runs" and think its cool how they've built a community with their customers and "walk the walk" (pun intended ;)) with promoting being active. The service is incredible here. I walked in with my mom and got assistance right away. The salesman measured my feet and watched how I walked and brought out about half a dozen pairs of shoes for me to try on. I came back here remembering how good the service was when I shopped here years ago. Allison was helpful in finding me 3 great pairs of shoes. Since I am traveling, I would only be able to buy one pair right now, I went to note the brands I had liked...instantly (I'm assuming) the owner was on me like a flash berating me for "wasting his clerks' time" accusing me of writing down stock numbers so I could purchase the shoes elsewhere. He didn't let me explain that I was from out of town, didn't seem to care that that the more he berated me, the less likely I was going to make a purchase. He went on and on, even after I was almost out the door. I felt insulted and angry the rest of the day. I had come in to the store to support small business and left feeling bad for the poor employees who work for this man. Since I am an elderly women now I can,most certaily,vouch for the qualiity and most popular styles every time I have needed any and all brands of sneakers. STAY AWAY!!! Rude, disturbing, overpriced. 1st visit owner's daughter super rude and hostile when I spent over $200.00. She got angry when she incorrectly attempted to medically diagnos me. I explained my condition but she did not seem to understand. 2nd time owner rudely said they were closing, threw me out, but people were walking around picking through boxes. I called 30 minutes later to complain about how rudely I had been treated by the owner, they were still there. Employee was courteous BUT, Owner Steve, had FRIGHTENING, bizarre, emotional breakdown, screamed" I love my mother, she is 82 years old I am taking her to the movies later tonight." Then he hung up. It was unprofessional, deeply disturbing, awkward and confusing. His mother is healthy or she wouldn't be going to movies, but why yell your motherly love at customers? Yup, as good as it gets. I work out 6 days a week and have been struggling for months over bad fitting sneakers. A friend of mine suggested I go to Sneakerama. I was suspicious, but decided I had nothing to loose. First off, THEY ARE HAPPY FOR YOUR BUSINESS! Secondly, THEY HAVE A HUGE SELECTION OF SNEAKERS Third, THEIR RETURN POLICY IS UNBEATABLE. The first pair of sneakers I bought werent perfect, since they told me I should be 100% satisfied, I decided to return to see what they would say. I did not have my receipt, but when I walked into the store and told them my dilema, they took a look at the sole of the shoe (I only wear them in the gym), he said, don't worry--these are not used and we want you to be happy...so, I exchanged them for a different model and they are PERFECT. In this day and age of big chain stores, it is worth the few extra dollars to get the service, knowledge and appreciation from a small business.
