When I got home I took a wet paper towel and ran it over those same surfaces, and the pollen and dirt came off with just a wipe in one direction. When the charge appears on your banking statement it shows up as the name of the guy collecting the money for this contraption and not the name of the place itself, which lead to some confusion on my part, and on the bank's part, too - as they thought I was being scammed and wanted to cancel my card, until I put 2 and 2 together.
