Both visits saw so many other folks coming and going due to the holidays, but the team seemed to be so patient and made checking out a breeze. I was really impressed with how clean the store was on both visits, especially the bathrooms. That was probably one of the cleanest gas station bathrooms that I've seen in a min! My mom went in to ask for them and they said they won't sell them to her. My mother mentioned how she's an adult and has an ID. Regardless they still denied the cigs saying that the only ID they wanted was mines specifically. I was telling the lady that's it nonsense, all I was doing was translating what my grandmother wanted. Don't get me wrong, Im not complaining for them checking ID's or anything. Is just the action of not wanting to sell them to my mother who is a full grown adult with her ID that I find discriminating.

Their men's bathroom is spacious and clean - big enough to freshen up, not just use the facilities. There is a Hardee's connected to Love's. We grabbed a couple of biscuits and, not surprisingly, the wait took a bit - just like home! Overall, this Love's a good spot. Nothing special about it (outside of it looking brand new), but it's excellent that there's nothing terribly wrong with it. I'll keep this spot in mind whenever I'm traveling on 85. RaceWay sites, buildings, and gas facilities are owned by RaceTrac, but RaceWay stores are independently owned and operated. I'm generally a fan of RaceTrac-branded stations (they're company-operated). RaceWays are more hit or miss. Compared to the newer QuikTrip stations along I-85 in South Carolina, I can only give this RaceWay two Yelp stars which means, "Meh. I've experienced better." (QT) The best thing about this station are its low gas prices. On May 29, 2017, I filled up on premium unleaded (93 octane) for $2.439 per gallon. This compared to prices of $2.679 per gallon at a RaceWay in Lavonia, Georgia and $2.759 per gallon at a QuikTrip in Marietta, Georgia within the same week. Yeah, I know different states has something to do with those price differences, but still. The filling station has 20 pumps and it was decently clean and in OK shape. Inside the store, the men's restroom has only one urinal and one toilet. When I went to use the restroom, the urinal was taken, so I went to the toilet. The floor was covered in water and perhaps some urine too along with a lot of soggy toilet paper. The toilet itself was wet everywhere. I'm not sure what happened in there, but it was not clean. I'd feel bad for someone who had to go number 2 under those conditions.

There are a few tables in the corner available to sit and eat. The windows and vents are always free of dust and debris...which is more than I can say for some restaurants! The kitchen staff isn't always the friendliest, but they do prepare delicious food. And it's obvious they work hard. The Sunny Mart is definitely worth a stop while passing through Nichols.
