I lost track of how many directors there were in the years my daughter was there. My daughter was recently diagnosed with ADHD and PTSD from an incident at the school. She started acting out in class and we were trying to get help with a doctor, however, our doctor wanted detailed written reports of each incident so she could pinpoint what was triggering the behavior. The owner kept promising reports, which are pretty standard and were always provided by the previous owners, but we never saw a single written report. With little to no warning, our daughter was suddenly expelled at the end of the school year. Since it was so late in the year, we were unable to find accommodations for her for the summer and my husband lost business due to having to care for her. The owner did not follow any of the protocol written in the expulsion guidelines. She even wrote that we were given written reports by our daughter's teachers in the expulsion letter, which was a lie. I understand our daughter was acting out in class, but we should have been given formal warnings and written reports of the incidents. The owner had no sympathy. I also voiced my concern as my daughter was being hit, which I believe was the trigger for her behavior. I was met with aggravation and defensiveness, and nothing was done about it. We went to a birthday party about a week or two after the expulsion, which included mostly kids from this school, and our daughter was clearly the one being bullied by a certain child during the party. We believe there is more to the story that was not revealed to us. In conclusion, if your child needs any extra attention or has any type of special needs, this is not the place for your child.

It's the people who are doing this, Doug and his team. They are the reason LakeView Day Camp has been a huge success since Doug took over. Doug and his team are in this to serve the families, not just to have commercial success. The programming is brilliant. They really try hard to accommodate any issues and things do happen so tell them if there is an issue so they can help. They have corrected bus issues or stepped in to address other minor problems over the years and always left us feeling like they really care about their campers. Doug, the owner is very visible and works hard to leave campers with a positive experience whether they are 5 or 15 years old. They have a beautiful camp with a lovely lake, a hot lunch and healthy snacks like fruit. They just put in a huge new pool 2 years ago. They have a nice teen program as well.

My first born went to two Goddard Schools, in #NorthBrunswickGoddardSchool and #BranchburgGoddardSchool. As I was expecting my second born, I obviously turned to one as well which is near my work. Also a current co-worker has one of there children currently enrolled and soon to be expecting her second one soon. So with no question asked, my husband and I (with another co-woker) went to take a tour of this facility. We were looking for January/February (2018) enrollment but was told there was a waiting list and the next availability would be in March 2018. I asked if there is anything we could do to ensure our spot for March, and was told by the owner Laura that taking a tour would put our name on the wait list automatically, nothing else needed. I went above and beyond with my work to get a delay start of March so my New Born could go to the Goddard school as preferred. I recently called at the end of November to ensure my son's guaranteed spot for March was still available. First, I spoke with the director, who was very standoffish on the phone. She informed me there wasn't any spots available until April 2018 now. I was SHOCKED! I had asked for the director, Laura who at that time was not available. Few days later, I had called back to speak with her and left her a msg. She left me a voice mail, stating "my director had informed you about everything already, if you are still unsure give me a call back." She's lucky that I did not hear that voicemail until I had called her back already, otherwise she would have gotten a piece of my mind. When I called back, Laura informs me that the next availability is early Spring, once I asked what that means she says Early May!!! I was very disappointed. Still keeping my composure, I had asked how is that possible and when was anyone going to inform me about this change..? I had sacrificed my maternity leave to ensure my son had a spot in March. She stated during the time of the tour that they would contact us when a spot was available a deposit was not needed because the tour was sufficient. The story changed when I inquired further. She explained that we do not call to let you know, if you want to ensure your spot, you need to put in a deposit." I was stunned! I told her that this is new and this information was not told. I continued on by saying that I had specifically asked her about a deposit and had brought my checkbook as well to make one. Her response was, "I apologize if you did not understand me, but this is how we have been doing it for past 23 years, this is nothing new." (talk about customer service people!) Biting my tongue and keeping my chin in mind, I had asked her if she could email me the enrollment paperwork since I wanted to have a guaranteed spot for next availability, I would try to drop it off or drop it in the mail with check etc. Now, 24 hours later, the next day, I have NOTHING! Not a single paperwork in my email inbox. Later that day, I had confirmed with both my husband and my co-woker who went with us to confirm if I was having a Pregnancy Brain and totally misunderstand her during the tour of having a spot available in March and tour is sufficient enough OR she did NOT mention any deposit? Both confirmed my understanding. So clearly Laura, you had provided me with wrong info and two other people confirms it. To make this even more interesting, my co-worker whom I recommended this place to, took a tour, and during the tour, she was asked to make a deposit. Now, her New Born has a guaranteed spot for March. As you can imagine, this is why I feel we are being ignored and purposely not provided a spot, interestingly enough, both of my co-workers are White. During the tour, I had noticed very little to hardly any minorities in the entire school. In the current New Born Classroom, there were zero minorities! And they are clearly going above and beyond to not only be very unprofessional, and providing me with wrong information to me just to ensure that my mixed African -American/ Asian child would not get into this facility. One of the biggest differences we've noticed is how healthy our boys have stayed. They rarely get sick here, especially compared to our previous daycare experiences, which tells me the school takes cleanliness and sanitization very seriously. The summer program is another highlight. The kids get to enjoy so many fun and engaging activities, including musical performers, puppet shows, water play, foam parties, and even drive-in movie days. I always look forward to the pictures they send because my boys are clearly having so much fun. They stay busy all day with meaningful activities and never seem to have a dull moment. Since our boys started at Goddard, I've always noticed what I think of as a "trickle-down effect." The management is respectful, the teachers are respectful, and the children reflect that same culture. The kids are so well-behaved compared to what we've experienced elsewhere, and I truly believe that's a result of the positive environment the school creates. Most importantly, I know my boys are safe, genuinely cared for, challenged, and kept engaged every day. The teachers also provide appropriate structure and discipline, which has helped them grow tremendously. Goddard played a huge role in helping my boys thrive and prepare for public school. Like any daycare, there is some staff turnover, but it's minimal compared to other centers we've experienced. What also gives me confidence is that Miss Lori has been there for over 20 years and oversees teacher training. Knowing that every teacher receives the same high standard of training really shows in the quality of care. I often find myself lingering during drop-off and pick-up just to chat with the staff because I genuinely enjoy the warm, welcoming environment. I'm honestly sad that my 5-year-old is aging out because we've loved being part of the Goddard family. We have had an incredible experience, and I would wholeheartedly recommend Goddard Flemington to any family looking for a caring, engaging, and well-run preschool.
