Very, very unkepped. Place moldy in between rundown buildings, tweakers, outside and smelly and inconsistencies in the food

The moment I walked in, I loved the setup--bright, open dining areas with huge windows overlooking the hills. It has a relaxed, down-to-earth vibe but still feels clean, organized, and welcoming. Perfect spot to sit back and enjoy a good meal without feeling rushed. I ordered the chicken tenders with onion rings and green beans, and you can truly taste the homemade quality. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the onion rings were perfectly crispy, and the green beans had that classic Kentucky taste with bacon and onions. My dining partner got the BLT with homemade chips, and the portion was impressive--thick-cut bacon, fresh veggies, and crunchy chips that were obviously made in-house. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. You can tell they care about their customers and take pride in what they do. If you're anywhere near Mt. Vernon or passing through on a trip, make time to stop here. It's one of those local spots where the food is great, the views are beautiful, and the service makes you want to come back again. Highly recommend!

Tl;dr - it was one of the best BBQ joints we've ever tried. This really is what you might imagine a small Kentucky town BBQ house to be - tiny building, hand-lettered signs, a happy Porky Pig-style painting inviting you to feast upon his flesh, etc. It was unassuming, rustic, and by a big lake. Ask to eat on the deck if the weather is right. On a Wednesday evening, there were only a couple of other families there and we were seated immediately. The food came out quickly. Let's review what my friend and I ordered: Fried catfish - I can't imagine doing catfish much better than this. Crispy breaded crust, melt-in-your-mouth interior. Pulled pork - neither of us are pulled pork connoisseurs, but I ate every bit of what they gave me, which is rare for me. Tender with no lumps of fat, and the sauce was the perfect blend of sweet and savory for me. (I don't like BBQ at all if it's too sweet.) Fried okra - a dish easy to get wrong - often too gummy, stringy or mushy. This okra had a crunch to the outside and the right amount of tenderness on the inside. We both finished our portions off. Fried taters - sliced potatoes cooked kind of like home fries, crispy exterior. My friend added spicy BBQ sauce to his and loved it. Baked potato - huuuuge with butter and sour cream, not too dry. We drank Ale-8, which they had on tap, which made my friend happy. (I'm more meh about it, but I keep giving it second chances. If you're from north of the Mason-Dixon, it's like ginger ale.) The server was very attentive and helpful, and a cook popped out of the kitchen when we were paying to ask how we liked it. When we said we loved it, she gave us a Fonzie-style double thumbs up. We are returning to eat here on our journey back to Louisville in two days. Totally worth the extra mile off the interstate.

This review will be long but worth the read: I'm not one to put out information about a work place but this environment needs shut down. I started working there February of 2019, and it was my first job. I did not know what to do, as I was not trained at all. The managers there were always rude and hateful, it felt like every employee was walking on eggshells around them. They hardly ever wear gloves there, and most of their cooks are VERY gross, hygiene wise. Even gross in the sense of going outside for a break and smoking a cigarette, coming back in and making food without washing hands. Most of the employees would go outside and smoke marijuana in the parking lot. They overworked me the entire time, they hardly ever kept the place clean, only time they would really actually clean was when the higher management was coming in. Then, they always had me use toothbrushes to clean the floor and coffee pots, etc. They often times would make jokes about customers, and management would pretend to care about the customers problem to their face, and then go behind the counter and laugh at what their issue was. I ended up quitting a few months later; I didn't like the coworkers, managers, or the overwork for little pay. But in all seriousness, I don't recommend.
