Brisket with fried okra & baked beans
    Lesley M.

My parents and I stopped here for an early dinner. We were seated and placed our order immediately. Our server was very friendly and gave suggestions for what she preferred. I went with brisket, baked beans, and fried okra. I ate every bit of my food...it was that good! The brisket was flavorful and tender. My okra wasn't overcooked and the baked beans were tasty. Overall great spot with large portions if you are in the area.

THIS is what I've been looking for when it comes to bbq! Immediately upon waking inside I was hit with the aroma of smoked meat. I was shown to a booth and a server came to give me a menu and get my drink order and then my food order. This was very refreshing as most other places are stand in line and order your food and then go find a seat. They offered the basic options that you would expect and even a few more. I went with one of my personal favorites, the burnt ends. They were very good. The green beans were amazing and came out hot, which is not always a given. The ambiance of the place is very warm and inviting. This will be a regular stop for me. I'm looking forward to bringing my wife here and ordered her favorite appetizer - fried mushrooms! Added: I brought my wife back and she loved it as well!

    Fried green tomatoes "Amazing"

The fried green tomatoes were the best around. Catfish was also amazing. I drove along way to try their food and will definitely be back!!

Stopped by for a quick lunch after hearing great things about this place from friends. The lighting inside was on the darker side, and the smell of barbecue hit us as soon as we walked in. Plenty of fun decor covers the walls and is hung from the ceiling. Our server, Tara, was friendly and attentive. The food came out pretty quickly, which was a nice bonus. The menu has a great variety of options, and the prices were definitely reasonable. I got the sliced brisket plate for $16.99, which came with two sides of your choice and a slice of Texas toast. They also offer "premium sides" for an extra $1. The portions aren't even larger than the regular sides. The half-pound of brisket was solid and tender, nothing particularly extraordinary. The fries were delightfully crispy and the mac and cheese was creamy and hot. I was happy with the Texas toast--not overly buttery or burnt. A Solid meal and a great option for some bbq if you're in the area!

Food was awesome! I had the cheese burger and fries my wife had the hoss. My son had the original chicken sandwich. It was all delicious and gave us plenty of food. The service was top notch as well staff was very friendly and made us feel at home the restaurant over all was very comfy and the decor gave us lots to look at. Looking forward to our next visit!!!

2 Meat combo, Ribs and Sausage. Okra and mixed vegetables side

This is a tough review. This restaurant was highly recommended. I love BBQ all over the US so I wanted to give this place a shot. Additionally the average reviews of 4.5 had is about excited. Our server was Tara and she definitely delivered 4.5 service. The problem is that the food did not deliver on the 4.5. I went the ribs and sausage combo with fried okra and mixed veggies for the sides. The ribs did have about the right amount of smoke the problem was that they were overcooked and dry. The flavor was also lacking. If a rub was used on the ribs I could not tell. The sausage as lukewarm to cool and also bland in flavor. The BBQ sauce was pretty good. I went with the original and it was very good and had a consistency somewhere between Kansas City and Carolina. It had the right amount of sweetness and tang. The mixed veggies were a huge disappointment. They seemed to be the frozen vegetables that you find in the grocery store. The okra was ok. The other folks got a pulled pork sandwich, salmon and brisket/ribs combo. The feedback was pretty similar. Again service and the atmosphere was great and laid back. This may have been a 1 off looking at the other reviews but the food missed the mark today.

3 choice meats (fried catfish, ribs, pulled pork), 2 sides(okra, green beans), bread, and a side of Mac & cheese.

So stopped by again takeout and got the same three choices ribs, catfish, pulled pork, green beans, Mac & cheese, Texas toast, and a side of okra, but they were so sweet and tossed in a pickled vegetables. Everyone was so sweet and food is amazing. Hopefully see you all again before returning to Hawaii.

The restaurant is decorated tastefully in a quaint New Orleans style, and the atmosphere is dress casual and calm, perfect for nice, quiet get together. The restaurant is not designed for a high volume of people, so reservations are best because they stay busy. As I mentioned, Mike's Place is New Orleans themed, and the menu reflects this style, but there are many delicious options. My wife and I made 6:00 pm reservations for our 41st wedding anniversary. We arrived around 5:45 pm but we were seated before 6:00. Our server, Dallas, was very friendly and attentive and took care of all our dining needs. We first ordered the Coconut Shrimp appetizer. This arrived quickly and was hot and well prepared. The Coconut Shrimp comes with a delicious dipping sauce. For our entrees, my wife ordered the Atlantic Salmon with fried okra and baked potato, all of which was served hot and well prepared. My wife has dairy allergies and she requested a butter substitute for the baked potato, and Dallas was able to provide margarine instead of butter. I ordered the Commodore's Platter, which comes with Lobster Tail, Dungeness Crab Claws, White Fish and Shrimp with salad and one side. You can get the seafood prepared grilled, blackened or fried. Even though a "platter" sounds like a lot of food, it was filling but not too much. This was another excellent experience at Mike's Place, and we'll definitely be back!

The crab cake... well first thing iceberg lettuce is in the news giving people explosive diarrhea but it was a good idea to garnish my plate with dead iceberg lettice. It wasn't bad but not a stand out either.

Frying it right does require a unique skill so we were interested to see if this place lived up to the hype. Well you're in for a treat worthy of a road-trip meal -- warm hospitality meets seriously flavorful Southern seafood. This place nails that cozy, down-home vibe without skimping on quality or portion size. Their fried catfish fillets and catfish steaks are golden, flaky, and satisfy that crispy-outside, tender-inside craving perfectly. The peel-and-eat shrimp regularly show up on locals' highlight reels, and if frog legs are your jam, they're on the buffet lineup too. On busy nights the buffet spreads wide, offering fried shrimp, hearty fish, and classic Southern sides that keep your plate rotating. The drink lineup may not be fancy, but it's exactly what pairs best with this kind of food: ice-cold sweet tea and lemonade refreshingly cut through the rich flavors, and classic soft drinks round things out with ease. If beer or wine is your companion of choice, there's usually a modest selection available to complement the meal. Being from the South, sides are just as important as the entrée -- and Catfish Barn delivers. You'll find creamy macaroni & cheese, broccoli mac salad, green beans, and pinto beans that feel like grandma just put them on the table. Don't skip the fried okra and hush puppies -- they're classic, crunchy bites that dance beautifully with tartar sauce. After all that savory goodness, you need dessert. Patrons consistently gush about the pecan cobbler and strawberry dessert, often topped with ice cream that melts into every sweet nook. Whether you're a local or a visitor, they're the perfect last course to cap a soul-satisfying meal. Catfish Barn isn't just a restaurant -- it's a small-town institution where food, friends, and family come together over big plates and bigger flavors. The buffet style keeps everything hot and plentiful, the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is casual yet full of warmth. Sure, expectations should stay humble (this isn't fine dining), but for genuine Southern seafood cooked with heart? This place stands tall. Would I come back? Absolutely -- with friends and a big appetite. All in all this was nothing crazy or fancy just down home southern cooking. Very inviting atmosphere. You can tell a lot of the customers are regulars and comfortable which in part is the staff because this was my first trip ever here and they made me feel at home.
