I might have been born in this beautiful section of the world, but unfortunately I have very little experience with the local cuisine here! My experience at Bar-B-Que Shack might have been a mistake, B'cause now my expectations are higher than ever LOL !! o______o This review is for the experience I had when visiting my cousin in Jacksonville Wednesday, January the 17th. The timing couldn't have been better when we chose to go. Business was slow, allowing her and I to get comfy and situated at the table we chose. Their display pieces around the restaurant were really neat, and the individuals running it were welcoming and all smiles. We took our time enjoying our amazing food and such. At some point one of the owners, Adrian visited us at our table to see how we were doing. As sweet as he could be, he made sure we were comfortable and satisfied. ^__^ The ribs didn't stand a chance. lol Them spicy collard greens spun me for a loop due to how amazing they were as well. More frustrating Food standards I'll argue with myself for the remainder of my Days I guess! haha Their fried okra was bomb too! Everything exceeded my expectations! My cousin loved her loaded BBQ nachos she chose. A bit too saucy for her, but that didn't negatively influence our overall experience by one bit! Would I suggest this place to anyone ever? This hole in the wall is the perfect lunch stop. The pulled pork is juicy and Smokey. The sauce is solid. I had the baked potato with chicken, as of this review, it only ran me a cool $11 and there was more than enough for two meals. These folks are from Victoria TX and they know how to make good food. I have eaten here many times and the food has always been great. The service is pretty simple. You order at the counter and they call your number when your food is ready. The new owner has fixed up the interior some, but it could use a little more sprucing up. Overall, it's a great place to eat BBQ. read more

Ok, been a while since I've been to this place because the BBQ was sub par. They have new owners now so I decided to try them out and got the kids rib plate. The ribs were cooked well, great seasoning, and moist. Fries hot and crunchy. My wife got the pulled pork plate with smoked Mac n cheese. Food was on point. I will go back often. My holdback on 5 stars is that my wife's sandwich had very little pulled pork on it. It was pretty flat. TASTY but pretty flat. Service was great!! Oh, if they wanna win a bigger crowd they need to cook more ribs. If not they will lose the dinner crowd. Gotta get your ribs before 5pm if you want some. read more

This place is awful. Walked in with a party of 9, we had to put our own tables together. Employees looked at us like we were crazy. Food was awful. We ordered a frito chili pie that was cold, Mac n cheese was cold, bbq plate was not edible. Total waste of money. I do not suggest this establishment at all. Oh Emma Gee! Chely had a chicken sandwich and steak fries.... Banging! I had a half rack (6 ribs) and two sides potato salad and baked beans. Texas toast buttered like nobody's business.. Ribs were wet. Dry is also an option. Pulled pork sandwiches looked good. Customer service was great too. You know it's good when you get your shirt dirty. $ was good, both ate for $27. I got the pork plate with fried okra and beans. The place came on the recommendation of the co worker and I love the smoking Cannon out front. The nice smoky smell of Q in the air as you get our of the car was an illusion. The Q was fairly dry even with it being overly lathered in a mediocre bbq sauce. The beans are average with the same sauce and a little pork mixed in. I liked the crispness of the okra but it needed some salt. For dessert I had a "homemade fried pie." Well not homemade but I should have gotten it with some ice cream to flavor it up some if you get my drift. The service was just bad. The lady behind the counter/cook as well had ZERO life/emotion to her. I felt I had inconvenienced her somehow and I had an urge to apologize yet not knowing why.
