I have a vehicle built in 1977. I've had it tested here three times in the past without an issue. When I went back to a retest I was told the machine to test older vehicles was down and would be back up the next week. When I went back two weeks later the machine was still down with no indication of when it will be back up. They have recently changed technicians and I get the impression they don't want to do smog vehicle checks anymore. I suggest going to another smog location if you have an older vehicle. read more

Tried to charge me $90 for a smog check and wouldn't accept the coupon on their site. I went to another place 5 minutes away and they gave me one for $50. I'd suggest either going somewhere else or calling ahead to make sure they're gonna give you a fair price. read more

We have no choice but to give this business establishment 1 star for the simple reason that they do not open when they say they are going to open. The business says they are open from 8am to 6pm on Yelp, 8:30am to 6:30pm on their website, and 8:30am to 6pm on Google. Therefore, we still don't know their actual opening hours. We arrived promptly at 8am (as we based their hours on the Yelp information) and spoke to the gas station attendant sitting inside the building. When we told him that we were here for our smog check, he looked at us as if were from another planet. The dialogue proceeded as follows: Attendant: They don't arrive until 9:00 or 9:30 Us: So, we should come back at about 9:30 and they should be here Attendant: No earlier than 9:45 because they usually don't arrive on time. Arrive on time? Based on which schedule? What makes matters worse is that they guy spoke with a "I don't give a **** attitude." Bottom-Line: They don't want your business -- so don't give it to them. Bad attitude most always results in bad service, performance, value, etc. I wouldn't trust this place at all. With a little additional research on this platform (Yelp), you can find a nearby place that will prove much more reliable. We did. read more

Online hours say that they are open at 8, then the phone answering machine message says 8:30, so I show up at 9 and the person isn't here. After waiting 30 minutes the man inside told me he doesn't know when to expect them to start. I talked to a woman who had an appointment at 9 but the guy is nowhere to be found. Came on a Monday morning, nobody else there. I was told it would take 10 min, so I just took a seat there in the chill little garage and put on a podcast. It was a 20 min podcast so I put it at 2x speed thinking I would be able to finish it. I didn't even get halfway through when everything was done! Terrible service... This business is connected to gas station where I recently just came to get my vehicle smog. Nobody was around to help me and I asked the gas station manager where the smog employer was and nobody had a clue. The manager of gas station instantly got very disrespectful and aggressive. Yes, they will do the job as they advertise and without an appointment however, it is no cheaper than most other places. Lower price in the ad is when auto does not pass. The place is a mess, not friendly (kind of sexist attitude by the folks there ...and generally, thrashed and trashy not in a Berkeley casual way - genuinely trashy), the kid doing the service disappeared and was not be found until about 10 min. after the test had ended. Honestly - I would not make a special trip over there to get car smogged by this place unless desperate. Technician didn't open up until an hour after the business was supposed to be available, but I didn't have an appointment, so I guess it's no big deal. He was able to take my vehicle as soon as he showed up. The smog check seemed efficient and professional. Be aware that the business currently doesn't accept the $49.95 coupon if your vehicle has a commercial plate. (My vehicle is just for my personal use, and I didn't know that it had a commercial plate, so that was a surprising disappointment.) But, other than that, the service and price seem fair. read more
