The hospital in Parkersburg gets a shipment of blood from Columbus six? days a week, I believe. I'm trying to take this route once a week. And when I'm done with my delivery and before I head back to CBUS, I'm going to stop at Chams for lunch. It's not someplace I'd expect in downtown small-city WV, though maybe I'm just prejudging. Probably just prejudging. But it's a very Lebanese place. Nary a French fry in sight. But a nice long menu of middle eastern street food for lunch. Seriously yummy wraps, some salads, a few other things, and baklava. I've been twice. First time, I got the spicy wrap. Excellent. Very tasty, multifaceted flavors; each bite something just a bit different from the last. Just a little heat, nothing like Thai or Szechuan. Your spouse should be able to handle it, but they'll make a surprised noise for the first couple of bites and their nose may sweat. My second trip's lunch was shawarma wrap. Same yumminess, different flavors; no heat. Both were five stars. Also got baklava, one for me, one for my wife because she'd be able to smell the honey and walnuts on my breath when I got home and be very cross if I didn't. We both thought it was very good, if not quite amazing. Second trip I came home with Chams' cream cheese baklava. It's different - a big hunk of, well, cream cheese instead of walnut filling, but still wonderful sticky gooey honey on top. I thought it was very good again, but it wasn't to my wife's taste - just too much cheese for her. Each to their own, right? They also have pistachio baklava, and each kind comes in either filo wrapping or birds-nest style. I love both. The store is clean. Parking on the street nearby isn't much of a challenge when they open at 11AM. The staff is VERY friendly and all speak with just enough accent to be charming yet perfectly understandable. They want you to enjoy your food, and I did. I'll be back. Go there.

The hotel is old and historic and does have cool old decor and a fun haunted feel. Walkable to plenty of other places. Restaurant Fantastic service. They have indoor and outdoor patio seating. The hotel is magnificently decorated! the high ceilings and old style check in desk. The clerk on duty was so sweet and informative and helpful. Our room was fabulous. As was the walk to it. through the halls with the dark mahogany doors decorated with wreaths for Christmas. Both beds were meticulously made up and the mattress was so comfortable. I didn't feel like I was at a hotel. The bathroom has a very nicel tile shower and plenty of hot water that you can fine tune hotter if you wish! The room was very clean! The linens on the bed were very crisp and comfy! Let's talk about the restaurant and food! 10 stars! They made a fresh pot of decaf for me! It was delicious! The food is wonderful. I did not do breakfast but my daughter did and said everything was perfect! We did do dinner and our server, Scott...I think that was his name made the dining and experience and added to the ambiance! There were 3 of us. We all had the She crab soup...it was piping hot and very good and creeamy! We each ordered a different item for our dinner. I had the appetizer of Wagyu beef and mushrooms on crostini. It was absolutely delicious and had a fine taste that lingered. I only wished it had a little more meat and mushrooms. My daughter had the beet salad and was very pleased. She added salmon on it and again was very pleased with its preparation. My son had the Shrimp and Grits that were prepared as he liked. it was a very generous portion and was also piping g hot. While we didn't do dessert we did see the lemon meringue pie and it was beautiful with meringue piled high! I must add there was a musician that played clarinet and also piano...wow...just like in the movies! loved it! We ventured down to the 1889 Lounge and speakeasy. unique phone to call in and get a code to enter the room which was dimly lit and had shelves of spirits. The bartender was very engaged with every patron! the decor was very old times and someone was even playing the upright piano! The Christmas Tree Festival was an added bonus to see. What unique trees! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We hope to return to visit again. we were on a visit for catching up with friends from 40 years ago! The city has changed so much!

Item #1: Burger with curly fries: out of 5 stars I gets a perfect 5. Very large burger and cooked well. Fries not overcooked. Items #2: grilled chicken and cheese quesadillas. I may love more cheese than anyone, but these were lacking in the cheese department. And there was more shell than cheese and chicken. So I give it 2.5 out of 5. Item #3: 7 boneless mild rings. Good dash of spice. Just enough chicken to fill u up. Cooked well. Would give mine a 4.7 out of 5 just bc I like mine not as crunchy. So, overall this place gets a 4.06 out of 5 Pros: the burger and fries. The quick and accurate taking of my order by Nicole. And once again Nicole having our order together and having a good attitude. Cons: lack of cheese on quesadillas Will definitely be back. They have outdoor dining for the summer months

And I'd like to add that this is not my first encounter with her on a previous visit with a friend she overcharged him, then grew an attitude when he asked her to correct the check. This is always been a favorite place to bring people from out of town, but I am going to change that policy. I know that things change and that people get older, but you could always count on the service being friendly instead of rude. My tip reflected the service and I only do that when it is very upsetting the way we were treated servers are usually very hard workers, and I acknowledge that with my generous tips. But not in this case.. and while we were there, we saw a gentleman dropped something in the kitchen, pick it up and put it back in the fridge. Obviously things are slipping. So unless I know that there have been some definite changes, I won't be recommending the net anytime soon.

Probably the worst dining experience I've had in many years. It's virtually self serve, though to be honest, it was somewhat that way 20 years ago. I placed my order though their order screens were somewhat confusing. It was a hit or miss search for what we wanted to order and many things were sold out. No clear sign or direction as to where to go do what. They weren't busy! After waiting nearly 20 minutes I went up and asked for my drinks. They could find the order for one, but not the other. After watching the staff looking for a ticket, I finally said never mind, just give me a water. After asking again, they got half my food out but we're waiting for my wife's food. By the time hers got out, mine was cold. Once I sat down I checked my receipt an sure enough, I had been charged for the missing drink. I went to ask about it and was told it was self serve. I found no tea so I went back up and was told it was in the fountain machine. I finally found it only to have it dispense water. I went to report that. Mind you my wife had finished her meal and I at my cold meal as well. They said they would go change the box. I said just refund it. I've had better meals and service at McDonald's! Ag least my entire meal comes at at the same time and at the same place. Corporate needs to send a secret shopper in to see just how bad it is. I'm pretty confident that if they did, this location would be shut down. Terrible experience.
