My 2026 Sorento X Line came in with cross bars on the roof racks. The paperwork said dont open sunroof with roof racks installed. My husband and I tried to remove them but couldn't. I went to Kia of Huntington 1 mile from my home to have them show me how to remove but they wanted to charge me 250 dollars the hourly rate. I called Andrew he said make a service appoint and come back to them. Couldn't get a service appointment for a month. Leased a new 2023 Kia Sportage. It has had 2 recalls, rotors cut under 10,000 miles, and engine issues that they tell me nothing is wrong. Less than 6 months of having the car, it shut off while I was driving on an expressway. Fortunately no one was hurt or killed. It was a faulty fuel injector. Recently the car shut off on me again, while I was driving it. It was another faulty fuel injector. The car is clearly dangerous. I have reached out many times to Kia Corporate and my safety concerns have blatantly been ignored. So, l was in the market for a new car and while shopping, l visited this Kia dealership. I wanna start by saying that I do like Kia and have no beef with them at all. My issue was with the salesperson. His name was Ray and he seemed nice. Ray is bald, wears glasses and is soft spoken. He showed me a hatchback and it didn't really grab me, but still, we got to talking a little. He wanted almost 5K down, so my payments would be $319. I told him that 5K down seemed like a lot, on top of my normal bills, inflation and the terrible state of the economy. (We all know that everything is going up, but people aren't getting raises to even it out. That's why a lot of people are struggling these days.) He asked me what l did for work and when l told him, he said "Oh. That's why." It was like he didn't approve of what l did for work, because l don't work a 9-5 job. Like he didn't approve of one of my life decisions. He doesn't know anything about me! That condescending attitude/comment has no place in ANY business. Even if you do feel that way, you keep those thoughts to yourself. He wasn't rude about it, but the fact that he said it certainly rubbed me the wrong way. I immediately told him that I have never struggled to pay my bills, which is true. l wouldn't have walked into a car dealership in the first place if paying my bills was a problem. I have 60K in the bank, BUT that's for emergencies, my retirement, my future wedding/honeymoon, etc and NOT for a car. At the end of the day, l went to a different dealer (not Kia) and got a significantly better car, 2 models above what Ray was offering, for less down ($2700). We were in town for a family emergency from out of state and the driver's side window opened a little and it wouldn't close. Called and they told us to bring it by but they didn't know if they had time to fix it. When my husband got there, they took the car right back and fixed it. I am blown away by their ability to lie and gaslight their customers. My uncle was a witness to this and confirmed what went down. As we all know car dealers take advantage of women so I made sure to bring a male with me the day I looked for a car. My biggest mistake was not bringing him back for the signing because i completely missed the switch that Rich in finance pulled on me. I saw a deal online for $219 a month with $2800 (of course with a bunch of * and based on tier 1 credit. But we asked if they would honor that deal. The manager came back saying that they technically don't have to honor that deal but that they would because they are an HONEST company. They claimed to be different from other dealers, and it did feel different until I caught them a month later. We agreed on $219 a month but it went up to $285 a month with taxes and fees. I know this for a fact because my Uncle asked for a complete breakdown of each fee, added it up divided by 36 and it came to $285. It was a Sunday so they couldn't run my credit yet and I was fully aware the amount would increase once they did since I am not tier 1. I was fine with this. The final payment was $329 a month and the papers were signed as such. However the issue is that RICH the finance guy wrote up everything completely differently and because he was schmoozing and talking my ear off I didn't catch it until a month later. Suddenly they are saying that my taxes were paid up front and were never included in the monthly payment. That my monthly payment jumped from $219 a month to $329 a month because of my credit, and that they never roll their taxes into their monthly fees. THEY SAID THE OPPOSITE. HE SAID WE NEVER HIDE FEES AND THAT'S WHY THEY ARE INCLUDED IN THE MONTHLY PAYMENT BECAUSE WE ARE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER DEALERS. I spoke to Rich in finance who completely gaslighted me and wouldn't believe a word I said. I spoke to the manager who did the same and blamed me for not catching it when I sat down to sign the papers. They may act like they are different from other dealers but they are even slimier than other places because of their ability to lie to your face and confuse you to their benefit when you actually sit down and they write the deal completely differently. Yes my payment is exactly what I expected, but they may have cost me in the end. They are likely benefiting from collecting the taxes upfront in some way. If I could give this dealership a zero star rating I would. I went in looking for a car this past weekend. My entire interaction with the sales associate, Gerard, took approximately 4 minutes. During those 4 minutes I was asked multiple times "ya understand?", basically after every sentence he said to make sure I was a coherent individual in front of him. At the 4 minute mark Gerard decided he couldn't help me anymore and would try to find someone else (at which point I had had enough of this place entirely). I'm a female and I know my face resembles that of a younger female. I'm not certain if Gerard was trying to "teach" me about the points he was trying to make, but the entire ordeal was extremely unprofessional and to be honest came across as sexist. I CANNOT even imagine he would speak to a man this way ever. I did speak with the sales manager about my concerns and he did apologize which was nice but really a day late and a dollar short. I just want to make sure other women can avoid this feeling entirely. I spent a good amount of my day being upset over the unfair treatment from this one individual and I wouldn't want that for any other person if they can avoid it. I went into several dealerships that day and everyone that day was more than willing to help me and listened to my concerns with what I was looking for. The experience here was quite the opposite. I have had nothing but issues since I bought a certified pre-owned car here. It was the biggest automotive mistake I have made. I have had to have repairs every few months. I never get a rental, never was reimbursed for rental fees, every time I need service it takes over a week to have the car diagnosed. If I could go back I would never go to this dealership again. I was sold a 2016 Kia Soul and I bought all of the extended warranties and the packages to make sure that if anything happened to the car I would be able have it repaired. So to my huge surprise it was great when I found out that things with the oil were not covered. It appeared that the car was burning oil but in order to check it I would have to pay over 500 dollars because the warranty won't cover it unless there is a problem found through and expensive diagnostic and the dealership won't do it unless I pay. Now if the information had been delivered that way it would have been one thing but this was not the case. The men in service told me it wasn't covered. The sales department told me it was and sent me back to service who argued with me that I was wrong. I went back to sales and they said I was fully covered. It was a back and forth which was so frustrating. I think the worst part was when one of the sales representatives sat with me and said he understood my frustration and wanted to help me. Said he would contact corporate, said a whole bunch of things and then dodged my phone calls for weeks until answering my phone call because I didn't call his direct line and got transfered to him and then just angrily told me to call corporate; which I did. After that I had issues with the oil and parts on the engine that needed to be replaced and every time I was not given a rental car. My car was kept for extended periods of time and it was constantly insinuated that the concerns were my own fault. It was not professional and it constantly felt like I was being taken advantage of because I don't know a great deal about cars. Cut to this past week and my check engine light is flashing again. When this happened in December ,which was the start of this whole mess, I was told it's so dangerous I needed to pay to have it towed from Lindenhurst to Smithtown. When I call up this time I was treated like I was crazy and over dramatic for the suggestion. Again Kia Smithtown being inconsistent and gas lighting me. So I asked to please make sure it was safe to drive, I was transferred around on the phone until I got disconnected (or hung up on) and upon calling back I was sent to a voice-mail where I left a message and shocker, didn't get a response. I dropped my car off on the 23rd of this month. The service representative informed me that even though I had made an appointment for the 24th I should not have been allowed to because there were 11 cars before me and they would not see my car for days to a week. I left and waited until today. Which is the 29th to inquire if it had been looked at. They said they didn't and there were still 6 cars ahead of mine so it would be another week to a week and a half of my car sitting on the lot. Ofcourse if you have read this far you realize they have no rentals to offer amd the corporate office won't give a rental reimbursement unless there is a diagnostic which I can't get so I have to either go without a car or pay for a rental. I called the corporate office trying to plead with them to help me get a rental but they did nothing. My only hope is that someone will read this and realize they should avoided smithtown kia and buying their certified pre-owned cars at all cost, do not rely on their ads for a rental, do not expect quality care, do not expect to feel treated with respect or dignity and if these are things you want to go somewhere else read more

Just another typical story about car dealers today. I went last week, met a great salesman and found the car I liked and wanted. Wasn't actually planning on doing anything that day but I loved the car. Price was perfect, car fantastic until the salesman went to the manager and came back to me saying he wants 7k over sticker price but because my son is in the businesss he only wants 6k over. Wow how generous you rip off artist. That was the end of the deal. Thief is the only description I can think of. I have since sent a letter to Kia's CEO and the NYS Attorney Generals office regarding price gouging. As long as people continue to pay this price without realizing, as soon as the electronic chips start coming in they will be far behind on the value of their cars. If someone purchases a full or part electric vehicle and they request it be fully charged for pick up - make sure it is fully charged. It's a super simple request. (It wasn't charged for the test drive, either, so I didn't even get to experience the feel while driving on electric.) Please ensure the interior of the new vehicle is clean (i.e. no splotches of dried dirt on a seat). Please be knowledgeable of the vehicle you are selling. They will not cover the engine, as our warenty stated, as they say we have "gaps" in our service records. SO now we owe $13,550 on a vehicle that is sitting at kia waiting for us to pay $9,000 to replace the engine. We have 3 kids, both work, and NO loaner car was offered to us. We are devastated!!! Drove car at Smithtown Kia; was told internet price ($7100-ish plus the $695 prep fee) was best price (thought to myself, "There's never a 'best price' "). 4. Came back with the boss (she wasn't very impressed with the car but we still continued to #5). 5. The boss told sales person - we were sitting at his desk - that given a few issues with the car, a price in the mid-6K was more appropriate; I said that the $695 prep fee was nothing but an ATM-like fee (arbitrary) and that we'd like to see that reduced as well. 6. Sales person "smiles", picks up the phone, calls another person interested in the car, tells her that the all-in price (less state fees and tax) is $7840-ish, and if she wants it, it's hers. I am writing this review because I could not let the opportunity pass to express our extreme gratitude for Chad Echezuria as our car person at the KIA dealership in Smithtown. Our experience could not be more positive thanks to Chad and the KIA dealership. My husband and I were first time buyers, and other than having the Consumer Report's annual car report in hand, we had no idea what we were doing and were extremely nervous about the process ahead of us. When was the last time you've heard a person say how much they liked working with a dealership or a car salesmen/women?? I am pleasantly pleased to say that can actually say that we could not have been more pleased with the entire experience! From the moment we met Chad, he earned our confidence and put us at ease. He never pushed us and really took the time to help us understand the nuances of leasing a car and what was most important to consider. And he did so whether or not it would decrease his commission. So far, I'm very happy with my 2023 Niro HEV purchase from Smithtown Kia. After several months of researching the best new vehicle for my family, I decided that the Niro HEV was the way to go. I called around to several NYC local dealerships. The lowest price I could find on an in-stock vehicle within 100 miles was MSRP. There were some in PA that were asking less than, but the doc fees and dealer add-ons exceded any savings. Some local dealers were still asking for a $3000 market adjustment, which didn't feel right given the level of inventory they had (its not 2022 anymore). Smithtown came in with an over the phone MSRP quote, no doc fees, and offered a bunch of other nice services that I could take advantage of, like complementary oil changes and car washes with service visits. The rep that I worked with, Rick, was very straightforward about the deal. I had already priced out the PHEV model of the Niro at other dealerships, and I was very much over the high-pressure sales tactics and cumbersome negotiating processes that always seemed to require a slow-to-come sales manager approval. Rick's brevity and directness was refreshing. The test drive appointment went smoothly. The vehicle was there, no bait-and-switch, and Rick was very well-versed on the vehicle, its trim packages, vehicle performance specs, and technology features. I went to several other Kia dealerships prior to this when we were initially considering the PHEV and was astounded about how little the salespeople actually knew about the cars they were selling. Not the case with Rick. We put down a deposit, our financing approval was quick and easy, and he was very good about following-up when I had questions about insurance, plate transfers, etc. He even made it work when we requested last-minute changes to our scheduled vehicle pick-up time. Bonus points. Another great thing - Rick also took the time to explain how to adjust all the infotainment settings and set up the Kia app after all the paperwork was signed. We are a young family, but we've always driven older vehicles, and the tech aspect of this car was very new to us. Rick picked up on this and did the extra work to make me feel comfortable behing the wheel. I left the dealership confident that I could do everything I needed to do and then some. My only reservation about Smithtown Kia is that it does present as a bit of a time capsule. I can overlook the exterior scaffolding that obviously needs a repaint and the fact that they didn't offer creature comforts like water and snacks, but it was a little discouraging that in the two times I visited, both day and evening, I didn't see a single woman sales rep on the floor. I overlooked this because I did a lot of research beforehand and felt like I was getting a good deal, but I could see how women buyers, especially younger ones who are buying independently for the first time, might feel like this is a good ole boys club and decide to shop elsewhere. The sales guys were happy to see me, took plenty of time to let me play with the Optima and answered all my questions. The car is hot, the price is way good and the warranty is great. Have I bought it yet? Nope only because, and this is the only reason, the engine is a four cylinder with a turbo... just not my cup of tea; I prefer a 6 cylinder. That being said, I am still looking and this story may be continued as I still like the car overall. I have a few more dealerships to visit then we'll decide...
