Had a horrible experience with one of the managers here on 2/21/23 She was extremely rude to me and made me feel awful. I have called and reported it to corporate. I even talked to her in person and let her know that she made me feel awful. She never gave an apology or asked how she could help. I have never once had an issue with this smiths as it has been my neighborhood grocery store for 6+ years. My wife ordered a cake for my sons birthday about a month beforehand. When she went to pick up the cake, they said they didn't have the cake and it wasn't on their list for the day. After some investigation, they stated that they put it on the next days cakes by accident. At this point, they did very little to help with their error, just a problem that we would have to deal with. I'm not expecting perfection from everyone all the time, but how about a discount or something on our next cake? That may convince people to come back and give you another chance. They have no hand baskets for customers. I asked and they blame theft, but 1) how is that on the customer and 2) how is downtown SLC better at loss prevention than this suburban location in Ogden?? Get more baskets and put the anti-theft tags on them, my god. They got rid of the build your own beer pack section. Why? The sushi quality just gets worse and worse. I feel like every time I go in here there's less amenities. A Fresh Market in South Ogden is way better. The sushi is much better. The produce is decent. I literally live a quarter mile from Smith's and have started making the drive to South Ogden just because I'm sick of Smith's. There are some really sweet folks who work here. Good ol' reliable Smith's grocery. Part of the "Kroger" family of stores which I always enjoyed shopping at when I lived in other states. I have been shopping at Smith's stores since I was young, but they were called Smith's Food King back in the day. It has always been a great place to shop, but like anywhere else, it has it's pros and cons. I enjoy using their the Fresh Values card to earn coupons and points towards fuel discounts and they always have good specials on specific items that I am interested in. read more

Do not buy flowers here. I'm visiting from out of town and went in to put together a bouquet for the friends we are visiting. The floral clerk who was working was an idiot and didn't know how to put together a bouquet with the flowers I selected. I do this all the time at the grocery stores in my area and they always happily arrange what I select. This woman was clueless that you lay them on some paper, build the bouquet flat on the table and then wrap the paper around and secure with a bow. This is basic. I ended up having to arrange them in my hands and she tied a crappy ribbon around. The flowers look like garbage and I'm embarrassed to give them. $40 down the drain. To top it off, she was super rude. They should move her to a different department. Used to live here and shop there. Clearly it's gone downhill. used to shop at this store years ago. read more

Waited all day to get prescription filled. When I went to pick it up I was told they wouldn't give me my prescription unless I transferred all my medication to them. I have a good regular pharmacy but they were out of the medication I needed. I called Smiths and I was told they had it in stoock but they wouldn't give it to me when I went to pick it up. If your black expect to be racially profiled in this store! I have lived around the corner for a year now and every time I go in the store it's the same thing. The workers start acting weird and follow you around and try not to make it obvious but they suck at it. Also this Smiths always runs out of everything and it takes weeks for them to restock that item. Pharmacy is the worst for patients. No customer service. A long wait in line is common as pharmacy is very, very busy and second cash register is seldom open. Patients may as well be cattle as their is no concern for patients and pharmacist is a rare sight. No help for patients here. The phone system is a bothersome nuisance and a challenge to navigate and even so, prepare to count the rings till they, sometime, choose to answer. This place looks as bad as it is., too. Be warned. Really, why does anyone come back to this pharmacy? Why is this place so busy? Awful. read more

Honestly this store is much like any Kroger store! There were a few items out of stock that we were hoping for: packaged chicken breasts and Sargento cheddar were two of them that I can remember. There were carts in the airs of discounted items, claiming last chance and huge discounts, but some of the markdowns on some scuffed up travel mugs were only 50 cents. Service was quick when we were checking out, but we did encounter one rather rude older employee who was stocking cereal. We'd asked her a question, and she replied with 'I don't know anything about what you're talking about.' and huffed before walking away. Maybe she drastically misheard us or something, but she seemed very offended that we even spoke to her. read more

I swear to god this enormous fake nail, fake hair, fake eyelash "tech" told me that my insurance is not effective till tomorrow. Mind you she rolled her eyes and beat on the counter as she "attempted" to help me. I get it it's New Year's Eve. WHATEVER!!! I hope this isn't a duplication of a review I did a couple of hours ago. It doesn't look like it so here goes. Originally I said that I did not understand why this store didn't have a perfect score across the board because....... This is a very clean store with a welcoming look and feeling when you enter. It has a great selection of everything with well stocked shelves. I had to make a grocery run about 45 minutes ago & I did notice a few things that I will mention as the expression "You never get a second chance to make a first impression" is so true in all situations. Upon entering, the first thing I did was grab a cart & proceeded to look for the wipes they have to clean off any germs potentially left by a previous user. There were none at all. Both dispensers we open & empty. First negative. Next, I was in the produce section & picked up some Raspberries and wanted to get an aerosol can of whipped cream. I asked an employee working in the section where I might find it. In fairness to him, he made some effort but really had no clue. At this point, I wish he'd said, 'I don't know but I will find someone to help you." Second Negative. Lastly, I asked the bagger to help me put the things in my car. He said ok & he did help me. Not terribly personable & I felt like It was a bit of an imposition. I was still getting myself organized in the car & was still there when I saw a motorized cart that was turned over. A couple of other customers put it upright. The same guy (bagger) came out to get some carts & I yelled to him that the electric cart had been knocked over & put upright by a couple of shoppers. His response was ''" Really?". He did not walk over to it to see if it was damaged & went back into store. I stayed for about 5 minutes to see if anyone came out to look at it but no one did. I park in handicapped since I'm old & it hurts to walk much & I was not up for going back in the store. Third strike. Because of these 3 things, I am leaving a lower score than I originally intended. Timing is everything. All that being said, I still like the store & will continue to shop there. read more

Was waiting in the self checkout line, the front end lead grabbed my cart and started walking away. Yelled rudely at several people she was checking people out in an open line. He also ran into the back of an electric cart with an older woman and then got mad that she was in the way. I got to the checkout line with her she started putting my stuff up on the conveyor belt I had the cart with my friend and we had split up our items they asked her to stop putting things on the conveyor belt so we can split things up and she got mad at us. Sh. was extremely rude to my friend as he was checking out because he didn't immediately have a shopper's number. When I checked out she was talking to her friend the entire time instead of paying attention. Her friend who is bagging set my bag aside wouldn't tell me which bag it was. This place is Grrrreeeaaat!! Seriously, most excellent store. friendly and cheerful workers. good food selection from good brands. Even has a U.s. bank branch inside. Prices at smith's tend to be a little higher than some other places in Ogden. But I personally feel it's worth it thanks to the quality of stuff they have. Worst Bakery. Items purchased from the Bakery yesterday were so.BAD! Just wrong. Gross. THE WORST!

This has been my grocery store for over three years and without a doubt in my mind it is better than the other South Ogden options (Fresh Market and Neighborhood Walmart). Does the parking lot still suck? Yes. Is the inside outdated? A little (although I think they've been working on some remodels lately). Most Recently they added a Starbucks and got rid of the Chinese place. So far this hasn't added to my weekly grocery budget, but I do like the option of being able to get a fresh coffee or tea to drink while I shop. What I like about this place: Great deals and coupon offers. Self-checkout lanes, 20 items or less lanes, and then big major grocery shopping lanes. Friendly employees in all departments. Fresh produce. Great meat/butcher selection. We love the deli meat/cheese options especially now that they offer Boar's Head. Way better than the prepackaged deli meat. Gas pumps with fuel rewards discounts. I can't always find the fancy-smancy brands or items here. They don't have an incredible local offering like Harmons. But I can easily and quickly get all of my grocery needs here so that's good for me. read more

I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied with the service at the South Ogden Smith's store. I recommend to EVERYONE not to go to this store if they want specific items and certainly do not place and on line order because if the assistant manage on duty REFUSES to fulfill a request at the deli counter, when you are standing there in person, I can only imagine how they would ignore an online order! Let me tell my true story. It was 3:12 PM on December 24, 2019. The Smith's store was to close at 7:00 PM that day. I walked to the fresh fish counter to order Salmon just as a customer was walking away with the last piece of Salmon. Okay, that could certainly happen. So I went to plan B to obtain deli fresh Cheddar Cheese. I approached the deli counter and saw the cheddar cheese in the case. I requested a quantity of cheese and the person behind the counter refused my order! I inquired why? She said the deli is closed for the day. I asked to speak to the store manager and she said she was the assistant manager and the only one on duty. I again requested some Cheddar Cheese and with a smile on her face she said "No"! I explained that I wanted salmon but it was sold out and I understood that...but Why couldn't I have freshly cut cheese when store closing was about FOUR hours away! Again the store assistant manager Said 'NO!" to my face. Just imagine if you placed an on line order --- It would be easy to refuse an order when a human face wasn't attached! Welp.....it's a shame that I praised too soon with this location. popped in last night at 630pm only to find extremely dry fried chicken. Sad thing is, there were a few customers like myself that just walked away. When i mentioned it to the cashier, she acted like i was on crack. And then I was told that she never eats fried chicken. The deli department was fantastic. I was having a party and I had an order of chicken over 50 pieces. The order was fresh from the cooker and ready to go. They also helped me with ice for my salads. I recommend Smith's deli for anyone who is having a get together with family or friends the chicken was delicious and there were a lot of compliments. read more

much like Safeway smiths has a bit of everything and keeps the place tidy and fresh. but unlike Safeway their rewards card actually give you rewards. for every purchase you get rewards points redeemable at the end of the year towards the purchase of more groceries. i found some great deals at smiths that definitely surprised me: pears for $1 a pound, tillamook cheese that was cheaper than in Oregon where its made and a chenille robe for $10 bucks. smiths workers are everywhere and easy to call to attention when you need help. check out the bins full of clearance items in the back! i gt and orchid knocked down from 14 to 4 bucks! smiths may not be my everyday grocery store but for a good deal on produce and a surprise find ill be stopping here often. read more
