Since I blasted Smith's (and Krogers) last April for no longer accepting Visa Cards. I should in all fairness retract my comments now that they are once again taking Vise Credit Cards in all stores. Whether it was because protest like mine and others made a difference to their bottom line or not, I always loved this store and it employees and I for one will start shopping there again immediately. The only reason I don't give them five stars is that I am still not thrilled about some of their packaging policies. For example, you can't just buy a pound of ground beef. You have to buy 1 1/4 pounds. Show me a recipe that calls for ground beef that required 1 1/4. But I've learned to live with it..... read more

A woman by the name of Bomer. She, and she alone will be the reason myself, my wife my friends, my family and everyone I know who does business there will no longer be going to Smith's. Sunday afternoon 1330 the store is about to get busy. I normally shop early to avoid the afternoon rush. I had to maneuver around 30 to 40 blue carts that were blocking the isles all over the store at times three in a row blocking access to countless shelves. Getting to the produce area the shelves were picked bare in over half the areas. An employee walked up to check something and I asked her who runs this store? She replied Why? I said this is pathetic. She asked what is? I motioned to the baren shelves. Her reply was "Yes it is. It really is." I was floored. I asked if this was a thing in the store and she said "YES IT IS"". I've shopped at Smiths in multiple states and never seen the poor quality that this particular store is constantly in. Pallets clutter the floor during peak shopping times as well as the blue carts. The employees that stock and pull those blue carts give little if any consideration to shopping customers. I've seen produce on in the produce area covered in fruit flies and rotten produce on the shelves. Theres never enough baggers or checkout lines open during busy hours but always an abundance of blue carts and pallets in the way. The poor management at this store is something I would expect from a WinCo or Walmart grocery center not a Smiths. Especially one in a busy location like North Ogden Utah. I've bit my tongue for almost two years but after today and especially after talking to your employee, I will be taking note and making them known. Zoom in on the pictures and count the near or almost near empty spots and remember this is just before the busy time of the day at this store. I'd say your customers already aren't happy given the three star rating. read more

Smith's built a new store in North Ogden several years ago. I have known and had a great rapport with them for a very long time. I had enjoyed shipping there. After smith's was taken over / bought by Kroger all that changed. Every year things at Smith's have been getting worse. They let go most of the cashiers and workers I've known over the years, replacing them with woke millennials. They discontinued several of my regular grocery items and when I asked customer service about them they said they didn't have any control of the inventory it was all controlled from Ohio. There was an incident where while waiting for my wife on a bench be the checkout lanes, I took a few photographs. A feminist who worked there verbally accosted me, contracted all managers and then escorted me to the breeze way where the managers were, the asset loss prevention team was she's continued to verbally accost me until I finally told them to fuck off and I walked away. This all happened after Kroger took over. read more

The store itself is nice but you will wait 30 minutes for a cashier or 30 in the self checkout (where nothing works). The meat section has some questionable practices when I comes to anything discount so be careful. I see multiple health code violations every time I walk past. read more

The restrooms are always a mess, yet the hourly cleanliness report hanging on the door show signatures that the restrooms have been 'cleaned'. 3 out of 4 times there are no "small carts" in the cart corral. The hand baskets have been gone since COVID. This leaves me pushing a full-sized cart around the store for the 5or 6 things that I need. The shelves are pretty bare anymore. Might be aftermath of COVID, but not sure on that. read more

It's a nice store, has some nice people working here!! But there are 2 baggers that cannot stop talking to each other, it makes the check out process so so unnecessarily long, I've heard them be told to focus and stop talking, yet they are always together and getting distracted by each other, it makes me not want to shop there knowing they are going to be there. read more

Smith's Marketplace is a great place to shop, but like anywhere else, it has it's pros and cons. It is basically a "Smith's" grocery branded version of Fred Meyer which still exists in other states. Also, Smith's Marketplace stores have Fred Meyer Jewelers as well as Starbucks coffee inside, which I appreciate. Another great thing is the fact that they also use the Fresh Values card like their smaller Smith's grocery stores so I can use my card here to earn coupons and points towards fuel discounts. They have a huge selection and while some Marketplaces are larger than others (Salt Lake City, Bountiful locations, etc.) they all have a good array of both grocery, product and home goods to choose from. Their deli and cheese desks at most locations are fantastic as well! On the "Con" side of things, I dislike how most locations do not have a separate electronics dept. like the larger stores I mentioned above. Also a CON are the strange pricing practices... On the one hand, they have the great prices on food/produce items that Smith's is known for, however on the other hand (clothing in particular) it seems that Fred Meyer pricing is in effect and all these items are completely overpriced, which frankly, sucks because now I am forced to shop elsewhere for something I could have purchased here if it were only priced in line with their other items. Because of that particular bit of suckery, they lose stars on what would otherwise be a 4 or 5 star rating. read more

I encourage everyone to stop shopping at Smiths Market place in West Jordan, Ut. I went there today to the jewelry department to get the battery changed in my watch. I was told that I would have to leave my watch there for seven days to make sure there were no COVID bugs on it before they could change it. Can you believe this! I've had this done many times in the past without any problems. I will NEVER go back to that store. I would suggest Smiths reevaluate their policies, what a joke. I guess they haven't heard that COVID is now cured! read more

Stopped by here on our way through Utah because I knew the area from about 8 years ago when I lived in Pleasant View for a short while. I'd only been in the old Smiths in N Ogden before. Very nice place! Had everything I was after. Girlfriend loved the sushi. Pleasantly surprised! Still a bit overpriced. read more

It is beyond reason that this store doesn't have higher ratings. I live in Ogden and have 3 or 4 close or nearby places to shop for groceries. They are my very 1st choice each and every time. It is always clean, well stocked and has everything I need or want and more, The staff is helpful and friendly. I have shopped at Smiths in North Ogden for well over 20 years, while it's a nice store, close, convenient that's not what's important to me. What is most important to me and my family is Customer service. They are most definitely lacking in that area. Time and time again I've gone there waiting in line. Before you know it an employee will step in and yell "I can help the next person in line ". The major problem with this is everyone, anyone will jump over. They absolutely should take the time to walk over to the next person in line deliberately say to them "I'll help you over here ". NEVER happens! I blame management. I'll take my business to Lee's Marketplace or drive to WinCo. I've worked in customer service for more than 30 years. We all pay too much, we deserve better!!! read more

Smiths North Ogden has gathered my groceries order 2 weeks for me now. Who ever the shoppers are did an amazing job. I want to thank them so much. Everything was fresh as can be and all my vegetables were so fresh and absolutely perfect. And the delivery drivers are so kind and courteous thank you again and again. I usually enjoy going to the new Smith's store because it's got a great atmosphere and products that are hard to find in the area. I had to pick up a few things the day before Easter, which meant the store was crowded and all the associates were very busy doing their jobs. I stopped to look at some of their flowers and was holding it in my hand, reading the tag, when two associates (one seemed like a store manager) came up. I wasn't acknowledged at all as one proceeded to TAKE THE ITEM FROM MY HAND and walk away with it, along with all the others. Then they looked at me like I was in the way and took off. I later found out they were moving the display to the other end of the store. When I confronted the lady about what had happened, she gave a half-hearted apology and said she "didn't know [she] did that" and she was sorry that I took offense. All the associates at the flower counter were very curt and hardly let me finish taking before taking off again. I've worked retail, I understand how hectic it can be, and I know mistakes are made. But taking an item out of a customer's hand is exceptionally rude, and even after I approached her it was treated as my fault. Needless to say, this had left a sour taste in my mouth for that store, and I don't think I will be returning any time soon. read more

Sometimes I'll go to this Smith's over the other two in Ogden because it has a bigger footprint, selection, household goods and clothing. The deli is also a step up from other Smith's delis in the area. As an added bonus, the Intermountain Health Care 1/2-mile loop walking trail (with spectacular views of the mountains) sits just to the South making for a wonderful grocery shopping/light exercise combo trip. read more

This store seems to have all of the items that our family are looking for. We have often felt a little confused by the traffic pattern in and out of the store. I like the fact that the store seems to be managed well and organzied in a way that is easy to navigate. Some Utah grocery stores offer less variety. read more

I went to Smiths its a pretty decent grocery store. All the crazy old people hang out at the one in north Ogden. I like old people they have an aura of experience; obviously because of how old they are duh. Well not a great fruit selection though. Actually when I think about it Utah grocery stores don't seem to get very good produce at all. I bought some apples to make camel apples with and they felt firm but when I ate one it was mushy like apple sauce. Ive learned that if you get produce from any place in the Ogden area you have roughly 2 to 3 days to eat it or cook with it be for it goes bad. You know what I wish we had here in Ogden? I wish we had Andronicos or Berkeley Bowl. I loved both those stores they had every thing and Berkeley Bowl had it all organic. I wish I had a farm. read more

Smiths seems to be in need of a makeover from top to bottom. This particular Smiths is really no exception. The store is hard to get into and hard to get out of. This may have been a good design in the 70's but we are now in the age of Costco and stores that allow far more convienance. read more

Just a quick shout out to Grant the meat manager. I was looking for a certain steak sauce we use in a chicken recipe. We looked at 5 or 6 other stores then went and talked to Grant. They didn't have it so he said he would order it. This was on a Thursday morning. He said it would be there Saturday morning. The order was already put in so this smooth S.O.B. ordered it from Amazon for us. Way to keep a promise and save the day for a family BBQ. read more

I usually loves Smith's bakery, produce, and deli. I think that they usually have great quality, although sometimes higher prices. When this fancy new Smith's came in close to where I live, I was excited. But besides the aesthetics, it is a HUGE disappointment. Customer service is okay (they ask you every 30 seconds if you are finding everything okay, but the cashiers are rude and will continue to talk to the customers before you while they check you out and don't even ask for your value card). Both times I have purchased donuts from their fresh bakery they have been dry and stale (this was around 9 am). Two days ago I purchased one of their "fresh made" $3.99 salads. The lettuce was soggy and limp and the chicken tasted old, even though it said it was good for another 5 days. I thought I would give them one last try and I got their "fresh made" $3.99 chicken enchildas today. I took 2 bites and then was surprised with an ENTIRE CHICKEN BONE inside the enchilada! Not a small little bone that may have slipped through, no a big chicken bone. Disusting and ridiculous! I will never go there again, and I would advise you not to. Maybe they could spend more payroll in food prep and training and less in making sure there is someone in every aisle to say "Are you finding everything okay?". read more

I love the Sushi at this Marketplace!!! I have been to a few other Smith's and have tried their sushi, they suck compared to this one! It is super fresh and high quality, it is way better than any sushi restruant in Utah! The owner is really sweet and they can custom make any roll you want. I ordered some sushi for our wedding and it was amazing! I wouldn't have ever thought that a grocery store would carry such incredible sushi. If you are in the area you definately should try it! read more
