What a find. Let me tell you when my partner said that we were taking a romantic weekend in…read moreSomerset I was a little bit concerned. But between the hiking trails and finding Summer Smiles Honey Farm the weekend was a blast. Possibly not romantic but a really great time. I was searching for Honey Farms in the area to pick up some local honey. When I found this Farm I saw that it was run by two women and I knew that I had to go there. Even though their hours that they were closed on Sunday I sent them a text just hoping that maybe for Memorial Day weekend they had different hours. I was pleasantly surprised, actually ecstatic, when I got a text back inviting us to the farm. Not only are they a honey farm they also run Airbnb. So if you're looking for a good time you can always rent out one of the air B&B rooms and then order their homemade food that is made in their kitchen on the farm. Honestly can you think of anything better than waking up and eating food that you were looking at or you can walk through. This was a great find. We also learn that they do pizza in their pizza oven that's outside, and music. I honestly cannot wait to go back. I purchase some honey, some bread, some eggs, and some of their butter. We then took a walk on the property with the dog and ended up in the barn meeting the rescued goats, pigs, and cow. Honestly it was great. Darci one of the owners, who showed us around, was absolutely wonderful. She was so warm and friendly and allowed us to see how she runs the farm all from a text message request to buy honey. That was the best part. Not only did she open up shop for us she talked to us for at least an hour and allowed us around the property to see how she runs the place. It was great. If you are looking for a place to stay while in Somerset stay here. They have four Airbnb rooms that look so fun and the menu that they cook up in their kitchen looks great. Just a sample the bread and the butter with some of that honey, yum yum. I can't imagine that anything that she cooks would taste bad. Try it out if you're around the area. You will not regret it.

The…read moretwo farm-to-table dinners were excellent I'm terms of the culinary experience and the welcoming ambiance Darci and Amanda create for their guests. Last evening one of my little boys and I stopped by to pick up wood fired pizza and salad, and he enjoyed watching his pizza being cooked outside on a winter night, and while we were there he was able to pop in to see a blacksmithing class and go sample some honey. One trip for take out pizza that will inspire hours of conversation about bees, blacksmithing, and cooking with open flames. My kids devoured the cheese pizzas and the grown ups loved our pie with foraged mushrooms and homemade sausage. My salad with goat cheese and pickled beets was delightful. This is a very special place in the Laurel Highlands. Don't miss it!

If you have a chance to visit this farm, do it! The tour experience is $9 per person and worth…read moreevery penny. You start the tour with a little bit of information about the farm and it's history. You then proceed to the automated milking machine area. It is fascinating. Totally automated. The cows choose when to enter and the machine takes care of the rest. It automatically washes them, connects, milks, analyzes quality and amount of milk and then completes the process. During the tour we saw three different cows get milked and were able to ask a ton of questions. After viewing this portion we entered the barn where all the cows currently being milked are. It was fun seeing their different personalities through how they interacted (or didn't) with the visitors. They even have cow massagers! Next we saw the calves. Some were born as recent as last week. Then came the hayride. It was a 20ish minute ride through the farm's beautiful property. One of the farm's owners was on with us to answer questions. I think the highlight for everyone was the tasting at the end. Each guest is given an individual container with several varieties that we tasted in a particular order. My favorite was the cheese curds. My daughter loved the pepper Jack and my son loved the pizza cheese. We also sampled the quark cheese spread (which is kind of a combination of cream cheese and goat cheese in texture and flavor). The tasting was completed with their chocolates which are stuffed with their quark cheese. Amazing. When the tour was completed we were free to visit with the cows again or make some purchases. Such a great experience that I highly recommend to everyone!

I searched for some photos to post with this review, and I found a lot. And, oh the memories!…read moreMeeting with family at Stutzman Farms and picking blueberries has been an annual tradition for us for at least 7 years. Even with a wide variety of schedules to coordinate, travel time/distance to factor, a fairly short growing season, and weather considerations, we've managed to make it happen each summer, and I hope we can continue for many more years. The farm is expansive and beautiful. The "ready" rows are well-marked, and it's easy to pick buckets full of ripe, delicious berries. There are several types of blueberries grown on the farm -- we like them all and pick whatever happens to be ripe on the day we can visit! Even when there are a good number of vehicles in the lot, the farm is large enough for us to have never felt even slightly crowded while in the fields. We do we see other people picking berries, but there's lots of space. The people who work at the farm are very friendly and helpful. They also have lots of tips for using blueberries! The price for u-pick berries is very reasonable, and it feels like a great deal as well as an experience. The pre-picked berries aren't very expensive, either, and I'm guessing they also taste very good. We almost always leave with "way more berries" than we thought we needed or were going to pick ... and we always end up eating them all. We've even gotten into the habit of bringing a few cups with us. After paying, we wash some of our blueberries in the sink of the restroom near the register. Then we have fresh snacks for the ride home! Overall, I highly recommend Stutzman Farms and their "U-Pick" Blueberries.

As of this post they have not changed their website nor provided me with a refund for their misleading intentional product advertisement and in my opinion if they so blatantly practice deceit about the product size how can you trust they are not doing the same thing with ingredients and processing. Again my personal opinion and the reason I choose not to trust them or their products anymore and write this review for others to have opportunity to know before purchase they potentially are not being honest about what you are getting vs what you paid for. Friendly buyer beware
