Great place for a family night. It's a drive in! There aren't many left, so get out there and enjoy the outdoor movie experience.

You can also use your vehicle's radio, but beware of draining your battery. You can watch the movie from inside your vehicle comma or bring a blanket to watch from outside. Some people get creative and watch from the beds of their trucks, a van seat on the grass, etc. Before the movies begin, kids usually play together in the big grassy area in front of the screen -- where it's too close to park and see the movies. The whole place is kept very clean, and the snack bar is filled with all the "tterrific but horrible" movie theater offerings you would expect, including nachos, burgers, ice cream, and (of course) candy, pop, and popcorn! But, these prices are much more realistic and reasonable than at the walk in theaters. The staff is wonderfully friendly, and there have always been two working pinball machines when we visit! The audio and visual quality of the movies is always terrific. You'll also get to see some nostalgic advertising - like the countdown in between the movies, which I'm guessing is actually from the era it depicts. (If not, it does a great job at making it seem that way to a modern audience.)

Who doesn't love a drive in? Great selection of snacks and friendly folks that work there : )read more

Riverside Drive-In Theatre - Movies this night were Tom & Jerry and Godzilla vs. Kong. (Left is my son, right is a drive-in employee.) So we had to take this photo!

When I arrived at the ticket booth at the entrance, the employee said hello and welcomed me. He handed me tickets and a trash bag, and he kindly told me the radio station number and directions to the correct screen. The screen looked worn, but I could see the projected advertisements. Port-a-potties and bathrooms were available, but I did not use them. Unlike some other drive-ins, this drive-in did not have exact parking spaces with poles, so we just parked a little distance from other vehicles. The weather was rainy, so the ground was a little muddy, so I walked carefully to the concession stand. The cashier had a pleasant personality. She seemed new, and she struggled to find a button on the cash register, but she eventually found it. My husband and I ordered churros, popcorn with butter, a soft pretzel, s'mores popcorn, and beverages. Prices were fair, and I was happy to pay them to keep the drive-in in business. Commercials lasted about 30 minutes, and I could see another screen right next to our screen because no trees separated us. I enjoyed the movie. Getting in and out of the parking lot was quick and easy.

There are very few remaining drive-in theaters so I suggest supporting them rather than putting them down because you have a chip on your shoulder. It is ABSOLUTELY nostalgic because it is "old school". To the person that griped about the SUV parked in the front row- the photo that you provided shows absolutely ZERO evidence of it restricting the view of the screen from where the photo was taken, KAREN! I go once or twice a year. I do not go to traditional theaters because i have a projector of my own and can purchase a new movie to view in the comfort of my own home. I go there for the experience. Take your happy a** to the Waterfront and pray to the lord that u aren't harmed in any way. I can only IMAGINE the kind of chaos that you created which blighted the experience for others nearby. Get a grip.

I'm out $40 bucks and disgusted. Did I mention the 8 young men in the concession stand patting themselves on the back for how well they did on the BURNT 8 inch pizza they handed over to some sucker that paid $15 for it! Or the one cussing because he burned a funnel cake and had to start over? I'm hungry. I'm pissed. And I should have insisted on stopping at Sheetz for a hoagie that would have been made to order and affordable. Don't let drive in "nostalgia" get the better of you here. This place is nothing short of NASTY and over priced. To make things worse, the Golf Cart Gestapo decided my little Ford EcoSport was a full blown SUV, not the car the State calls it when I register it or the insurance company insured it as, or the dealership sold it to me as, and we were ORDERED to park in the BACK ROW with the oversized and full sized TRUCKS! The place wasn't even close to being full except for the big trucks in the last row that could all see over the broken down shed in the middle of the lot, which we needed to move twice to see over. I'll give it to the owner for giving my $20 admission fee back despite the Gestapo input. The $40 I lost on that disgusting crap they called food couldn't be recouped, but I can report them to the health department for what that concession stand was serving and how they were putting it together! To think, I was a huge supporter when this place was begging for help to stay open. So much for nostalgia. Especially when the price for a seat at the luxury cinema costs the same as here, (a perk of being a Senior Citizen), and you don't get accosted for sitting where you can SEE the movie, even if it's only one and not a double feature. I won't say don't waste your time, because I still love the drive in movie experience, I just won't be having that experience at Brownsville Drive In ever again. As for the Golf Cart Gestapo, your face was priceless when I got my money back, despite your racing down to talk to the owner before I could, and despite the "No Refund" sign in the window, and despite you barking I was getting nothing but kicked out. EDIT...By their own website photos, Actual SUVs are parked throughout the lot and NOT in the back row. Sad. All I wanted was a nice night out. Beware the Golf Cart Gestapo. What I failed to mention earlier was the number of times I said "We're moving, leave us alone. Shut up, leave us alone, we're moving". What a horrible experience!
