Well, the "Voice" is now defunct (boo hoo) but similar type productions are offered by Theater Extras. For $99 a year and a $5 per ticket co-pay, you might find performances you likely wouldn't have heard of otherwise. I'm not always in NY, but when I know my schedule, I pull up the site to see what's offered. It's worth checking often. Now and then there's a Bway show -- these passes go fast -- and lectures/concerts at the 92nd Street Y. Most often you'll find shows (including musicals) that are sort of obscure. If you're a nightbird there are frequent jazz performances, second set, starting past 10:00. Entertainment in restaurants and clubs have criteria i.e. $25 per person minimums. You'll know the requirements on the Theater Extras site before you book. $99 entitles subscribers to a maximum of two tickets per booking. The way I see it, if you use Theater Extras even a handful of times, you're getting your money's worth.

Vivian Beaumont Theater is a Theater, not the show. Well, what can I say, because I'm in the business, and is one of the lucky one, I often get free tickets for Broadway shows. When I first received the invitation, I saw "War Horse"? Never heard of it First, I'm not a big fan of war movie, Second, I'm not a big fan of the horse, but every Broadway Shows I been to, I never once get disappointed. First I went online and read a little bit what this show about, the name pretty much say it all, "War Horse", the horse that going to war, right? Well, that's not the point, the point is this show is more about just a horse going to the war, is more about, family relationship, friendship, and more importantly, what important to your child and knowing what he or she thinking Just like to clarify, if you are looking for singing and dancing, this is not the show for you, this show is not a musical I also like to clarify something else, Broadway Show is a live performance, all the performers are doing their best to create the most possible imagination for the audiences. The reasons why I brought this up is because I over heard the people sitting behind me was saying "this is stupid" when some performers brought out the birds eating the dead body That is NOT stupid, you have to use your imagination, this is during the war back in 1914, and dead bodies are every where in the middle of no where. But the only down side about that, I believe the performers should wear all black including covering up their head to blame in the dark, so it will showing more of the birds it self, instead of wearing brown color clothing Another down side is that, this is actually a family show, so you can bring your children's and make it a family night out, however, because this show is 2 1/2 long, and the show time started at 8pm, 2 1/2 hours later will be approx 10:45 by the time you come out the theater, and to many family with children's, by the time they get home, it will be approx 11:30 to midnight, so that's maybe some problem for some children's going to bed so late during weeknights Overall, I'm giving it 4 stars, due to what I explained above issue But it is a great show, will I go again? Probably not. But will I recommend to others? Yes, definitely, specially people with children's

War Horse is simply amazing. The story captures your attention immediately tugging at you…read moreheartstrings as you watch the story of a boy and his horse. I'll be honest, I had my doubts going into this one. I was blown away. The puppeteers are artists. You forget that you are watching figures on stage and not real horses. The story draws you in and the puppeteers make it seamless. With the use of the simplest of props with almost not background scenery the entire cast captivates the audience for almost 2 1/2 hours. The pace of the story moves so fast that time just flew by. I highly recommend this play if your looking for a heartwarming story!

The cast consists of just six women and an all female band. It tells the story of Henry VIII's six wives. Each of the women has a unique, bold personality and brings high energy and sass to each scene. For the most part, the music is upbeat and modern. The songs are originals, but detectably reminiscent of pop and R&B hits. The play evokes themes of women's empowerment, owning one's story, and reimagining history. The cast is wonderfully diverse and deliver their roles with lots of humor and heart. Definitely a creative Broadway gem worth the watch.

I would have loved to see the clothing from that era and not what looked like tutu skirts with glitter. It was a poor selection. I also didn't like the set decor as it never changed. If you wouldn't had listen in on the the lyrics you would have no-idea that this took place in the 1500. It all just left me wanting more substance, but in the same breath, I was happy when it ended. One of my highlights was that the entire cast even musicians were all women. This place gets packed with preteens. I wondered why? As some of the lyrics are raunchy. But if their parents don't mind, then not my problem. They have a cool selection of merch to choose from and your usual snacks and drinks are ridiculously over priced for no reason. I wouldn't return. Fyi: The Lena Horne theater is pretty small. You can enjoy the show from every angle. Don't kill yourself trying to get expensive tickets. We purchased tickets in the center of the orchestra, in row N, and saw their faces perfectly. The soundtrack sounded better in the car ride back home. It was way too loud and although they sing great, I couldn't understand some words. This play is pretty short with no intermission. Thank goodness for that because the chairs are uncomfortable. Theater staff was friendly but very aggressive with the no cameras.

Pershing is a three-theater facility located on 42 Street between 9th and 10th Avenues. The building, designed by Frank Gehry Architects, has everything theater-goers want: a cafe, ample pre-performance seating, modern restrooms, elevators and comfortable stadium seats in the theaters. The show I saw, "Art of Leaving," illustrated six perspectives of marriage with a humorous and entertaining script. I'm a fan of live theater, and now a fan of the Pershing Square Center.

The staff here was very nice and audience in the theater was about 35 or so people which was not a full house but close to it. There isn't a bad seat in the house, the acoustics are good, though as I said before, if you sit too close to the stage, you might cheat yourself out of views. And just like before, the seats are cramped, uncomfortable, and covered in stains and hair. But I enjoyed the show and the "ick" factor wouldn't keep me from seeing shows here over and over.

Acoustics are just fine, seating is close the stage with great sightlines. The singers, orchestra, dance and drama performances feature the talented students of Juilliard.

The history and architecture and went straight to my heart and I immediately adored all the details from the classic moldings to the unexpected kitchen and bowling alley (yes bowling) in the basement. The play was delightful... Very small theater. Probably seats around 100 with a small informal stage. Insider tip: Don't trust the website on the free parking. We pulled into the lot and the first thing the guy said when we said we were catching the play was "I don't know where everyone is reading that we have some kind of deal worked out with the theater, because we don't!" Eep. Oops. Bad theater. Lots of great places to grab a bite before the show... And I do recommend getting to the show a half hour early. Very limited seating. Clean bathrooms downstairs. Yummy and cheap drinks and eats at intermission (bring cash... Chocolate cake for a dollar!) But overall a great experience. Just minus one star for the miscommunication on parking.

Even though I didn't enjoy the show as I might have, I archived his letter because when does anybody take the time to write a personal note to someone unknown?
