He even worked thru pouring rain because we needed the project done before the next day. His price for the project was very affordable and a hell of a bargain for the quality of work. If you want your project done right he is your man. The only regret I have is I can only give him 5 star. I will definitely be calling him back for anything that I need done.

I called him and he came over within an hour did a great job explaining everything that needed to be done. I had him help with fixing some wooden pieces on the top of the ceiling of my porch that had become undone and needed repair, along with installing drywall in my closet. Everything looks incredibly nice once they were finished. I required some additional documents for my insurance and Brian instantly was willing to work with what I needed and answered any questions I had. I would definitely recommend him to anyone and plan on calling him again in the future!

I recently had the pleasure of having Hampel Plumbing swap out my hot water heater, a job that took…read moreroughly 3 hours. This was not an emergency, I did not need to do it immediately, and I was more than happy to let them pick the day and time for the job. The heater itself was covered under warranty, so that cost was zero. The labor cost however, was a staggering $1600 for 3 hours. Now, I'll be transparent: I did not ask for a quote beforehand, as I did not expect a heater swap to be so highly priced, and Hampel did not offer a quote. For reference, plumbers in the St. Louis area typically charge $35-$130 per hour (source: Angi). At 3 hours, that's roughly $105-$390 for the job. Home Depot charges approximately $325 for basic water heater installation labor. Lowe's comes in around $200-$400. I paid $1,600. To their credit, after I raised the issue, Hampel did offer a $200 discount, bringing my total down to a still-impressive $1,400 for a 3-hour labor-only job. That's roughly $467/hour. The work itself was excellent. The water is hot. I have no complaints about the plumbing. Only about the invoice. If you use Hampel, and plenty of people do, I would simply suggest asking for a written quote before work begins that breaks down every single line item. A small step that, in my case, would have saved me approximately $1,200. --- Sources for average labor costs of water heaters in my area. * Angi - St. Louis plumber hourly rates ($35-$130/hr): https://www.angi.com/articles/how-much-does-it-cost-repair-water-heater/mo/st-louis * HomeAdvisor - Average water heater labor costs nationally ($150-$450 for standard tank swap): https://www.homeadvisor.com/cost/plumbing/install-a-water-heater/ * Home Depot installation labor (~$325): https://www.thepricer.org/home-depot-water-heater-installation-cost/ * Lowe's installation labor ($200-$400): https://smartwatersource.com/lowes-vs-home-depot-water-heater-installation/

The crew came at the designated time for the job. 7:30a, having arranged my workday to accommodate them. They scraped the exterior wall, after ab 40min or so I looked outside and they were gone! I then received a text stating that it wasn't plaster after all and they weren't going to finish the job. Eric also left a hole in my ceiling unfinished, despite his promise to repair. For a so-called professional to give you an estimate and agreed-upon job to redo plaster, then come to the job, begin work, say oh it's not plaster and leave .is completely unprofessional untrustworthy.

Severe Quality Issues & Failure to Rectify…read more Project: Back patio and concrete sidewalk addition (2024) Contractor: Seth Tomlin (Tomlin's Home Services) I cannot recommend Tomlin's Home Services due to severe failures, poor workmanship, and a total lack of accountability. Despite being a polite individual, Seth's concrete work was substandard and resulted in a project that was both non-functional and aesthetically unacceptable. Primary Issues: Poor Grading & Drainage: The patio was not properly graded, leading to significant standing water. I raised concerns about the grading during the process multiple times, but they were ignored. Mechanical Failure: Incorrect materials were used for the sump pump drainage and base materials of the patio pad, causing water to discharge directly under the concrete pad and would have caused future structural instalbility of the pad (found when we tore the pad up to replace it two months later). I raised concerns about the option for these materials as well, and obviously it was also ignored. Substandard Finish: The project was left with breaks at the joints/edges, concrete splatter on my siding and brick, and a generally messy job site. Total Loss: The work was so poor that I had to hire a second contractor to completely tear out and redo the patio pad. I am still facing the cost of repairing the sidewalks. Resolution Failure: Over the last two years, I have provided Seth with extensive photo documentation and multiple opportunities to provide a refund and cover the corrective costs. While he initially agreed to a repayment in his words to avoid involving his insurance, he has failed to provide any reimbursement to date. The Bottom Line: This experience has cost me a significant amount of money in both the initial payment and the subsequent demolition/reconstruction. If you are looking for quality concrete work and a contractor who stands behind their mistakes, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
