We called a number of hotels/B&B's and the Red Bluff Cottage was one of the lowest priced rooms we found. Breakfast was delicious. Fresh fruit salad with vanilla Greek yoghurt and then on to Belgian waffles with all the fixens. Our family really enjoyed our stay and we look forward to returning.

We stayed in the Rose Room for four nights while visiting. Although the Rose Room is one of the smaller rooms there, there was plenty of room for me and my wife along with our 4yr old daughter who slept in an inflatable toddler bed. Our bed had a very comfortable mattress and we all slept great! The cottage is located very close to downtown Montgomery (walking distance actually), and it is also just off of the interstate so very easy to get around during your stay. Breakfast each morning was fantastic. Some B&B's only offer a continental breakfast, but at Red Bluff you get a full hot breakfast, cooked by Bonnie each morning. There was also a mini-fridge downstairs with complimentary water and soda along with a Keurig coffee maker in the lounge for coffee anytime. I really can't think of anything negative to say about our stay. The only caveats would be that there are stairs up-to the house from the parking area (off street in back), and the dining room and lounge are upstairs from the bottom floor where all the guest rooms are located. Not an issue for us, but could be for someone with physical limitations. The rooms also do not have TVs (which again was not an issue for us), but there is a TV upstairs in the lounge if desired. All-in-all just a great place and we will absolutely stay there again if we return to the area.

I literally had to beg the staff just to receive the basic level of customer service needed to run a hotel. Tia G., in particular, was yawning, eye‑rolling, and sighing while interacting with me. It felt disrespectful, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. My room was never vacuumed, there were no toilet paper refills, and no kitchen detergent refills during my stay. I also called about extremely loud guests upstairs who were heavy on their feet, and management did nothing to address it. The laundry washer machines were broken, so I had to hand‑wash my clothes just to make sure I had something clean to wear for the next week. The gym was dirty, had broken equipment, and smelled strongly of mold and wet materials, making it completely unusable. Although the outside of the property looks newly renovated and elegant, the inside and the customer service are the complete opposite of its outside appearance. I was here for government training, and even after telling staff that, they still did not care. The "southern hospitality" that Alabama is known for did not exist here. For your peace of mind, go elsewhere. This property needs serious improvement in customer service, cleanliness, maintenance, and basic hospitality.

But for the price we paid that aspect was relatively insignificant. TV worked fine; quite a few channels to choose from. But I personally found the Spectrum (TV provider) menu and controls a bit clunky. Bathroom was clean and fully functional. HVAC was loud as it is in most of these small room areas. As an aside... the room was uncarpeted which lent you an air of harsh loudness to it. Nonetheless, the hotel itself was very very quiet. Breakfast was fine: overall "standard fare" of scrambled eggs (which were actually the best part of the meal and excellent-hot & moist). Sausage patties ok, lukewarm home fries that were just done but acceptable. Bagels and bread were available for toasting. You could also make your own waffles if you wanted. And there was an assortment of cold, cereals, packaged MYO grits or oatmeal yogurt, some fruit, and mini muffins. Coffee was mediocre but acceptable. Staff members were polite, but somewhat cool in their reception. (Not a problem - just not as welcoming as we have come to expect.

Things got even more frustrating later that night. I returned to the hotel around 1:30 a.m. after work, and my room key suddenly didn't work. When I went downstairs, the front desk employee told me I wasn't checked in and said there were no rooms available. I explained that I obviously had been checked in because I already had a key and all of my belongings were in the room. Eventually, she gave me another key and let me back in. Then the next morning, the manager knocked on my door asking who I was, which just added to the confusion and inconvenience. Also, just something to be aware of: it's an older building, so you can hear people walking around pretty clearly from the rooms above. That part didn't bother me personally, but it may bother lighter sleepers. For the price, I expected a much smoother and cleaner experience.

We needed an accessible bathroom. This was the worst designed bath area I've seen. Paint was peeling from the ceiling at the exhaust fan. The bathroom literally flooded when the shower was used, and water leaked through the wall to the closet area and soaked the floor to the point the soles of my shoes were wet when I picked them up to put them on. When I informed the front desk, he could not have cared less. If you care about your health, avoid the room at all costs. The pool outside is a joke, good if you have kids, I guess, since it goes from 3 to 5 feet in depth and you get about five strokes in going end to end if you're trying to actually swim. The place is loud, with 18 wheelers parked near the entrance, running all night with guests on the second floor sounding as if they're coming through the ceiling. We cut our stay short by two days and moved to another hotel that was $11 more a night and is lightyear better. This room should not be rented until major repairs are made.
