I stayed at Staybridge Suites Montgomery, Alabama, and the experience was extremely disappointing…read morefrom start to finish. The front desk staff showed no customer service attitude at all. I literally had to beg the staff just to receive the basic level of customer service needed to run a hotel. Tia G., in particular, was yawning, eye‑rolling, and sighing while interacting with me. It felt disrespectful, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. My room was never vacuumed, there were no toilet paper refills, and no kitchen detergent refills during my stay. I also called about extremely loud guests upstairs who were heavy on their feet, and management did nothing to address it. The laundry washer machines were broken, so I had to hand‑wash my clothes just to make sure I had something clean to wear for the next week. The gym was dirty, had broken equipment, and smelled strongly of mold and wet materials, making it completely unusable. Although the outside of the property looks newly renovated and elegant, the inside and the customer service are the complete opposite of its outside appearance. I was here for government training, and even after telling staff that, they still did not care. The "southern hospitality" that Alabama is known for did not exist here. For your peace of mind, go elsewhere. This property needs serious improvement in customer service, cleanliness, maintenance, and basic hospitality.

The location is great, and the room itself was fine, but the overall experience was…read morefrustrating...especially for a hotel charging $244 a night. When I checked in, my room was dirty. There was trash everywhere, including used pads in the bathroom, and the bed sheets looked messy and unmade. I politely asked a housekeeping employee if the room could be cleaned while I was out working, and she seemed irritated and wa rude about the request. Things got even more frustrating later that night. I returned to the hotel around 1:30 a.m. after work, and my room key suddenly didn't work. When I went downstairs, the front desk employee told me I wasn't checked in and said there were no rooms available. I explained that I obviously had been checked in because I already had a key and all of my belongings were in the room. Eventually, she gave me another key and let me back in. Then the next morning, the manager knocked on my door asking who I was, which just added to the confusion and inconvenience. Also, just something to be aware of: it's an older building, so you can hear people walking around pretty clearly from the rooms above. That part didn't bother me personally, but it may bother lighter sleepers. For the price, I expected a much smoother and cleaner experience.

As soon as we arrived we hadn't even gotten out of the car yet and a panhandler approached. He stood beside my door and said, "Hey mama you wanna give me some money?" and then stood there so close that I couldn't even open my door. We found out there is a homeless camp next door, and it seems that approaching the hotel guests to ask for money is a regular occurrence. This hotel has been renovated and our queen room was very nice. It was small, but clean and the shower was clean. I wouldn't really recommend staying in this hotel due to panhandling in the parking lot. Normally this is the road stop hotel that I choose because it's solid. Nothing fancy, but always safe and clean. The beds are always comfortable and have good crisp linens. We were on a road trip and decided to stop in Montgomery around 5 am. The reception ladies were so nice and the only reason I wouldn't rate this excuse for a Marriott one star. As soon as I walked into the room, I wanted to walk out, but it was 5 am and I had already returned to the front desk which was a long walk from the room because my key wasn't working. The stench of mildew was palpable. Stains all over the couch (I did not so much as brush my leg against it the entire 6 hours I was there) and it was clear that the door had been PRIED open at some point by someone desperately trying to get in for some godforsaken reason. The hallways reeked of someone smoking marijuana. Is smoking even allowed in hotels anymore? To add insult to injury the price of this hotel with taxes was 170 dollars.
