Dishonest, incompetent, and a complete waste of time This office is a masterclass in chaos, harassment, and bait-and-switch tactics. We scheduled a free orthodontic/braces evaluation 30 days in advance. Over that month, this office called, emailed and texted us at least 18 times. Not helpful reminders -- harassment. Reconfirming, de-confirming, pressuring us to come earlier, repeatedly demanding insurance information after being clearly told we are paying for these braces out of pocket, and even threatening to cancel the appointment if we did not comply with the insurance text demands within minutes. After all of this obsessive micromanaging, we showed up for the appointment they confirmed over and over again. At that point, the staff suddenly had no idea what we were talking about. No braces. No orthodontic evaluation. No orthodontist. Instead, they attempted to push a paid teeth cleaning and x-rays -- something we did not schedule, did not want, and were never informed about. We have our dentist that we are very happy with. So after a month of phone spam and intimidation, we arrived only to be told that the appointment we confirmed countless times simply did not exist. That is either staggering incompetence or intentional deception. Either way, it is unacceptable. This office does not respect patients' time, cannot manage its own scheduling, and appears comfortable misleading people just to get them in the door and charge for unrelated services. If this is how they operate before treatment even begins, it says everything about how they treat patients once money is involved. Avoid. read more

Treatment has been unnecessarily prolonged due to appliances being applied incorrectly from the start. Instead of addressing concerns professionally, the manager was dismissive, rude, and quick to place blame on my child rather than acknowledge issues with treatment. Communication has also been extremely poor. Calls and concerns go unanswered, and there is little to no follow-up from staff. To make matters worse, my child developed a painful ulcer related to the appliances, which was very concerning. After also hearing reports from the UES Mom group chat regarding rodent issues at the office, we no longer feel comfortable continuing care at this practice. read more

The emotions I feel writing this go beyond my expectations and honestly reality. I could never in a million years imagine how drastically Dr. Grinbaum and her team would change my life and perception. I have always been beyond insecure about my teeth since I was a little girl and, if you're reading this, you may know exactly how socially debilitating it can be to have crooked teeth, to be bullied because of your teeth, or to feel jealous of others who were able to get orthodontics done at an early age. A part of me cries for that little girl who hid her smile and laugh for decades for something so superficial, yet unfortunately impactful. Dr. Grinbaum made me feel lovely from the second I stepped into her office three years ago. I remember my consultation with Kelly and how comfortable I felt showing strangers my teeth close up for the first time in my life. I would hide my smile from close family and friends, but I felt relief instead of embarrassment discussing my many concerns with Dr. G. From that day forward, I have been gushing over how much I genuinely love my orthodontist. My coworker ended up getting braces because she was in awe of my progress. My friends are considering getting ortho done because of the drastic results. My loved ones are surprised at how much I genuinely laugh and smile without inhibition or insecurity. Over 40 people have reached out after seeing my progress pics online to know where I got my lingual braces, and I am so elated and excited when I tell them about Dr. Grinbaum. During these last two years, the Grinbaum team traversed a very difficult time with finesse. Their health protocols were unmatched compared to other doctors I had to visit during quarantine. My ortho appointments were the only time I took my mask off in late 2020 and 2021, and I never felt any fear in their office because of how carefully everyone prioritized sanitization. Although my treatment was delayed for 7 months due to the pandemic, the Grinbaum team was so communicative throughout endless worries and questions. My case was very specific because of my extremely crowded top and my cross-bite, but Dr. G methodically tweaked each tooth with care and an expert vision. I went to previous consults where doctors told me I had to have jaw surgery, extractions, and a TAD to fix my crowding and cross-bite, but Dr. G never suggested anything so invasive and irreversible because she is a brilliant, true professional. She was always transparent about what could and could not be done with treatment (although she did everything and more during my treatment and has overwhelmingly exceeded my expectations). In terms of lingual braces specifics, they took some getting used to for the first few weeks. After a few months, my slight lisp left me, and after about 4 months, I absolutely forgot that I had braces on except for a few days after my adjustments. They were imperceptible to my coworkers and friends, and as a late 20-something, I felt so much happiness secretly acquiring a beautiful smile I've longed for my entire life. Adjustments were quick and Leila (miss you, girl) was always incredibly gentle handling my teeth. I've also had the pleasure of being under Dilia's care, and she is one of the sweetest, most nurturing people alongside Dr. G of course. It truly felt like an office of people was rooting for me throughout my treatment, from Dr. G to Adeline and Carmen who always greeted me with a smile. My teeth straightened very quickly, but my cross-bite took the longest time to fix, and we're still making final adjustments. I specifically feel a very profound appreciation for Dr. G now, during this weird interim period of having my braces off and wearing rubber bands to fix some things I'd like to tweak: I voiced my apologies for my treatment taking so long (we thought it'd take about 18-24 mo., but I'm now a bit over 3 years because of the pandemic, my stubborn cross-bite, and my endless list of asks), and time and time again, Dr. G has reassured me that until I am completely 100% satisfied with my teeth, she will do everything in her power to get me there. No rushing me out of the door to get new clients in, no guilting, no exceptions. Dr. G is unequivocally the most knowledgeable, kind-hearted, and empathetic doctor I have ever met, and I have said a thousand times over--to strangers online and my closest loved ones who ask about my treatment--that I wish all of my doctors were like my orthodontist. Wasn't a great in-office experience

I'm not a "yelper" but this one worth it. I heard about Dr. Karin Grinbaum through my dentist. All my life I had crowded teeth, never smiled in pics, very insecure about them. I did my research and Dr. Grinbaum was my second opinion. I've met her for a FREE consultation and immediately I fell in love. She was patient, informative, and so gentle. She gave me 3 options (other places only gave me 1 option) and explained the process, the costs and the end result. Even was straight and honest when I asked for her personal opinion. Front desk provided me with 3 different super easy payment plans. In a month a half I had the newest braces on. They were in the back of my teeth. I work in the service industry and I talk a lot to client so I didn't want them to notice. Throughout the process I went to visit once every 4-6 weeks. I met KELLY and she is so incredible as well. Every question or concern that I had during the process the whole place was right by my side to guide me and to assist me. In only 10 months I have straight teeth. Dr. Grinbaum took such a good care of me! She gave me permanent retainers and a regular once as well. IM SO HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS! ! ! Dr. Grinbaum does great work! However, her admin staff is rude and mismanages the appointments. Additionally, if there are any issues you will not be able to get another appointment for at least 8 weeks. Your treatment plan can be delayed 4-6 months or more due to this. Unfortunately, Dr. Grinbaum's excellent work is overshadowed by poor administration that impacts the level of service. read more

I'm halfway through treatment and still in love with this practice. I absolutely selected the right professional to administer Invisalign treatment to correct an unruly bite that made it difficult to chew. Dr. Grinbaum is whip smart, as is her teacher, an oral surgeon at Mt. Sinai I consulted with about my jaw, and her staff is friendly and extremely capable. Dr. Grinbaum is insightful and intuitive, she has a magician's ease with her medical skill. Her team take the time to explain everything in detail. My treatment is completing sooner than I anticipated, my bite corrected very quickly, and I can chew with ease now. She also surprised me by filing away some unruly edges and polishing my teeth. I recently visited the office for an invisalign consultation. I must say I was beyond impressed. The office is beautiful and Dr Grinbaum was very knowledgeable and friendly. I have been to a few other consultations and the pricing was much higher and the orthodontists were not as friendly or helpful in making a decision. We discussed the benefits of Invisalign vs another option called Internal Lingual Braces. This is something that no other Orthodontist had even offered to me in any of my visits. I decided on invasalign based on the work I needed but both options seem like the perfect solution for anyone considering braces at a later age. I highly reccomend a visit to this office. read more

This review is long overdue. I DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO START. I am actually IN LOVE AND OBSESSED WITH EVERYONE IN THIS OFFICE. I had braces as a teen but never wore my retainer so my teeth shifted back. I was really self conscious and didn't want invisalign because taking them out to eat is kind of gross so I visited Dr. Grinbaum for a ceramic braces consult after going to several other different doctors. It was a no brainer once I stepped foot in her office. She sat me down and went over everything in depth with me and was soooooo nice and friendly and seemed extremely confident and smart which led me to stick with her. Not only if she so nice, comforting, sweet and experienced.. she's also beautiful!!! I felt soo confident that I would be in the best of hands so I decided to make an appointment and get my braces on! Everything has been going to smoothly and I only have 10 more weeks left. I look forward to each appointment I have with Dr. Grinbaum and Kelly and the other wonderful people in the office because they're so inviting and I leave happy. My teeth are almost 100% straight.. I cannot wait for the final 10 weeks I have left with these braces. She also is known for incognito braces so definitely consider those if you go into a consult. The best part is I will have a permanent retainer so I don't have to worry about my teeth shifting back after. I'm SO thrilled I found Dr. Grinbaum but it wasn't hard because I typed in "BEST ORTHODONTIST IN MANHATTAN" and she was on the list. She's phenomenal and so is everyone in the office. I'm so happy. Having braces in my later years was something I found appealing. I went for several opinions. One doctor wanted to pull some teeth- including a canine tooth. I found out later that you should NEVER pull a canine. When I met Dr. Karin Grinbam I knew immediately she was the orthodontist for me. The office is state of the art and very relaxed. The staff is young and very professional yet personal. And Dr. Grinbaum put all my anxiety to rest. She is amazing! Very on target with what would be happening as time went on. Dr Grinbaum is my orthodontist and I could not be happier with the treatment she is providing me. From the moment I stepped into her office I felt relaxed and she is so knowledgeable- I knew I was in good hands! Since I am not an adolescent getting braces for the first time I wanted more esthetic options to look age appropriate. Dr Grinbaum offers invisalign (clear aligners) and braces behind the teeth!! Who knew braces can go behind the teeth!! I had gone on two previous consultations and Dr Grinbaum was VERY reasonably priced compared to the other orthodontist. On top of that, her office was very clean and comfortable. I now am 3 months into treatment with braces behind my teeth and my teeth are noticeably better. I am amazed and impressed with the staff at Grinbaum's office. I was desperately trying to find a suitable orthodontist last year because I stupidly ordered smile direct club and my smile did not improve one bit. The initial consultation was quick and informative. Being able to pay monthly really helped me and that is what I really needed. The cost is affordable and reasonable and the customer service is awesome! I never had braces when I was younger because I was told I had to break my jaw to fix my cross bite/under bite. Dr.Grinbaum only had one tooth removed and moved my teeth so quickly. After a few months, I no longer had an underbite. I ended up moving to California in the middle of my treatment, but did not want to change orthodontists. My treatment was done in FOURTEEN months. I am baffled and so happy. I had crooked teeth and over bite issues. I looked up Dr. Karin Grinbaum on google and visited her. She was very warm, friendly, knowledgable and helpful. She suggested me Incognito braces for my case and I took coupla weeks to think it over and went back to her and got them. I read online reviews on incognito and a lot of people said it was extremely painful that they had to get them off. Dr. Grinbaum warned me there would be some pain and it will take few weeks to get adjusted and accustomed to them. Honestly it wasn't very painful. Yes, it took sometime to get adjusted but it was never unbearable. Anytime I had issues with the wires poking or anything, I could get an appointment immediately and Dr. had adjusted them. Her warm & friendly smile took my fear away and I hardly felt any pain. She was there anytime I needed any help. Once I ate chestnuts and broke a brace and I immediately got an appointment and got it fixed. I got my braces off couple of months ago and my teeth are perfect, my smile looks great. Their office is very clean, staff are very friendly and courteous, Dr. Grinbaum is very sweet and knowledgable. Her assistant Julia is very nice too. And I loved Shannon at the front desk who is not working there anymore. The new lady at the front desk, Stephanie is super nice too.
