My children have Medicaid for dental insurance. We already have to travel 30 minutes to see a dentist that accepts Medicaid. I don't have any other options currently to take my children for dental care. My son had been complaining of wisdom tooth pain. We got an appt for the next day. I told them what was going on and they looked up his info and told me that it was probably his wisdom teeth but they scheduled an appt for the next day. At the appt they took X-rays and gave a referral to an oral surgeon for extraction of wisdom teeth. They said they do not prescribe antibiotics or pain meds from their office. It was a Friday at noon. The oral surgeons office was closed for the day. I called other oral surgeons and was told I needed a referral. The dentist office said they sent a referral to where he needed to be seen. Now, it is Sunday and my sons face is swollen. He has barely eaten anything all weekend. He can open his mouth enough for a straw to fit in. He is in severe pain. I called the dentist office and their answering machine said to press 1 to speak to someone after hours for urgent care. Pressing 1 rings once and then disconnects. We are taking our son to the ER right now. read more

When you call the messages is full cuz nobody been checking on they can't give me a phone number to the manager they can't kids can't see a orthodontist except for twice a month so if an emergency is happening the kids can't get help to the end of the week or the next month you call to leave a message on the after hours and it's full but they're saying the girl don't work there no more so they don't have access to it so it's going to continue to be full the messages until they find somebody to replace the girl or do they get her information so they can change it so they can check the messages very disappointed and smiles for kids this is crazy read more

My daughter was seen here and Terri was very helpful and so sweet. She helped me with a referral and went above and beyond.

My son has been going here for a few years. He had an appointment at 8:30am, not only was the dental hygienist late, unprofessional dressed, and very rude. My son has always been uncomfortable at the dentist and this woman made the experience even more traumatic for him. I will be finding a new dentist and I hope this hygienist finds out that she is in the wrong profession. read more

Generally unprofessional and lazy. Omahans, you deserve better. My son needs fillings with either sedation or anesthesia, and the options are few and sometimes a bit frightening. Silly me for thinking the best way to handle this was to visit a couple of dentists, especially if some can do general anesthesia in their offices. This required staffer Dawn to get medical records to/from two dentists' offices. Here's a transcript of our last phone call. Dawn: "It may surprise you, Justin, but your children are not the only ones we see here. It's been very frustrating for me spending all this time gathering records and the x-rays, and trying to figure out what's going on. ... I know you're trying to get the best care for your son, but... " Me: "Is there a way that I can do it better?" Dawn: "You know what? This isn't going to work. You should find another dentist. Goodbye." (Hangs up). They say they won't see my two children at the office anymore. I'm sorry, Dawn. I thought a professional would do their job even if it meant 10+ medical records transfers. More importantly, professionals often have to work with people they do not like. You don't get to stop doing your job, which, I'll remind you -- and I hope Dr. Chelsea is reading this -- is to treat children. Shout out to Josie, the exception, in Scheduling. I set up two separate appointments, they cancelled both. They didn't call to reschedule, and when I called to reschedule they hung up on me twice. The staff is very unprofessional and threatened to call the police on me for trying to make an appointment. I wouldn't let anyone in there touch my child, just by the way they treat people over the phone. read more

My son is a patient and has had bleeding gums for weeks. I have called and left messages repeatedly about getting him in to be seen. I still have yet to receive a return phone call. I just tried one more time and the voice mail is full. I am calling a new dentist as soon as I complete this review. read more

I asked staff if I can accompany my son during his visit the office manager replied in a rude way and told me no. She replied by saying they have strict policy rules, any child over 5 has to go back alone. I proceeded and allowed my son to get dental work. After his visit my so told me that the doctor gave him a few shots to numb his gums, and during that process he flinched because of the pain. My 10year old son stated that the doctor looked at him and stated, "Stop it, it feels uncomfortable, deal with it, your to big to be acting like this." I went back to the office to retrieve corporate number or the office manager supervisor contact information. The office manager did not provide me with that formation. Now I know why they have that policy in place. I am not done here. I will be moving forward with more complaints! read more

Recently took our seven year old, JazLyn, to this dentist to have a cavity taken care of. The dentist stuck JazLyn 3 times with a needle to freeze the area. JazLyn screamed the whole time during the needle sticks and while her tooth was being worked on. Three days later her jaw is extremely sore and infected. Where the needle came in contact it is very red and has pus. JazLyn says it still hurts a LOT. read more

After having a referral to get sons tooth extracted, I made an appointment, having to wait two months to be seen. On the day of the appointment scheduled for eight in the morning, I was told they didn't open until nine that day. Go back into office and than I was told that they contacted me to cancel the appointment because the Dr called in. I checked my voice-mail and call log and had nothing from them. They only text I received was for confirmation that his appointment was on the scheduled day. Needless to say they were rude and I had to get rude and loud back. On January 31, 2019 my wife and I took our two children to Smile for Kids Omaha. My daughter is non-verbal autistic and will not sit for a regular dentist. Upon entering the clinic, we were greeted by Crystal at the front desk, super friendly and very helpful. Our appointment was at 11:00am and we got in shortly after. Dr. Jacobs was the dentist for my daughter. Amazingly he was able to get her to open her mouth, with a bit of coaxing, as to examine her teeth. Dr. Jacobs was super patient and very kind with my daughter. Next he looked at the teeth of my 8 year old son. My son had some baby teeth pulled by a previous dentist, who left part of the root in the gum. Dr. Jacobs informed me that they would reschedule my son for another appointment to remove the piece of root left behind. I mentioned to him that we had driven over 3 hours to be here, and asked if it were possible to do it today. Dr. Jacobs did not hesitate, he said, absolutely we can do it right now. The kind dental assistants took my son back to the room where Dr. Jacobs gently removed the piece of root from my sons gum. I have to say, our experience here at Smile For Kids Omaha has been just fantastic, from the moment we arrived, until the time we left. The entire staff were professional and went above and beyond to ensure that our children were the top priority.
