I don't have any other options currently to take my children for dental care. My son had been complaining of wisdom tooth pain. We got an appt for the next day. I told them what was going on and they looked up his info and told me that it was probably his wisdom teeth but they scheduled an appt for the next day. At the appt they took X-rays and gave a referral to an oral surgeon for extraction of wisdom teeth. They said they do not prescribe antibiotics or pain meds from their office. It was a Friday at noon. The oral surgeons office was closed for the day. I called other oral surgeons and was told I needed a referral. The dentist office said they sent a referral to where he needed to be seen. Now, it is Sunday and my sons face is swollen. He has barely eaten anything all weekend. He can open his mouth enough for a straw to fit in. He is in severe pain. I called the dentist office and their answering machine said to press 1 to speak to someone after hours for urgent care. Pressing 1 rings once and then disconnects. We are taking our son to the ER right now.

However, our main issue was with the way treatment and costs were communicated. My husband was verbally told that his insurance would cover certain procedures and trusted what he was told. He didn't fully read the paperwork he signed, which acknowledged understanding the risks, costs, and that he would be responsible for payment upfront. Unfortunately, this was not clearly explained, and the written agreement did not match the verbal information he received. When we called to clarify, the office was unhelpful and seemed confused, stating that they only provide estimates and do not handle insurance directly. This left us feeling misled, as the information we were given in person suggested otherwise. For someone who relies on verbal explanations, this experience was frustrating and, in our opinion, not transparent. We ultimately decided to cancel the appointment and will not be returning. While the staff was courteous and scheduling was convenient, the lack of clear communication about insurance and costs made this a negative experience.
