Still needs more work on top right side
    Paige T.

I don't even know where to begin this review. My entire life I have struggled with confidence smiling because of my crooked smile. I was so excited to start my invisalign treatment and most importantly have always looked forward to the day I would finish my invisalign treatment. October 4, 2019 was when I got them on. I paid almost 7k$ for my treatment at smile bar. Therefore I was expecting to walk out smiling, not crying. March 15, 2022 "I finished" my treatment. I have been embarrassed to tell people I finished because I don't want them to ask me to smile since I am still very insecure about it. I was told when I paid for this treatment it would be all inclusive, so if I needed more trays I wouldn't pay extra. When I went in for my final review I expressed to the doctor that I felt like my teeth weren't done yet & his response was "you've had them on for over two years there's nothing else we can do for you, if you would like more retainers you will have to pay 1,000$" & I was honestly in shock. I then expressed to him "I don't feel like I should have to pay more money when I paid 7k$" and his response was "no you didn't you paid 6,600" (he's clearly never rounded up) I then expressed some concerns about how there was now a space next too my front tooth which was not there prior to him shaving in between my teeth which is constantly getting food stuck in it now or looks like there's something in my tooth because it is a big black gap... his response was that it wasn't from him. He suggested that I get composite bonding done to fill the hole. I didn't feel comfortable giving him more money so I responded with "I guess anything is better than they were" & he simply replied "yes" fast forward 3 weeks till my permanent retainer comes in (in this time frame I went to another dentist got a cleaning, and filling done also had a consultation for composite bonding. The dentist told me I needed to get rid of my "crowding" before getting composite bonding done and was shocked when I told him I just finished my invisalign 3 days prior) I go into my final appointment at smile bar and express these concerns to him and am completely ignored again. When I take my final retainer out of the bag to put it in my mouth it doesn't fit, even the nurse said "oh wow that doesn't fit, let me get the doctor" he then came in and shoved the retainer in my mouth, told me to wear it 20 hours a day until it feels right. I felt like the nurse was looking at him with concern and confusion. I walked out and immediately burst into tears from pain & not having confidence in my smile. Something I have looked forward to my entire life and spent a lot of money on... was not what I expected to feel when my treatment was "finished" I ended up in the emergency room that night because my gums were swollen and I couldn't get the retainers off. So for the last 3 weeks I have been wearing my final tray instead of my retainer and anytime I try to put the retainer on I am in extreme agony because it does not fit properly. I feel as though I need at least 3/4 more months of treatment which would make perfect sense seeing as during Covid (March 2020) I was scheduled to get my only rescan apt because my trays weren't fitting properly then everything shut down. So I went from March-May with no trays & my new ones came June first so 3 months lost of treatment. I also expressed concern about how much of a hard time I was having with putting my elastic bands on and off (I have long nails) and was told "would you rather have nice nails, or nice teeth) so I cut all my nails off for 6 months and still struggled putting the elastics on and off. I always felt warm and welcomed by the girls at desk, and the nurses but told my husband the doctor always made me feel belittled/uncomfortable - so much I couldn't wait to be done with my treatment. So after 2.5 years of treatment and expressing I'm not happy 7k$ later all I got from him on my final day was shoving retainers in my mouth and a good luck congrats on being finished. I am still so sad about this and wake up every morning in pain from tray. The cleanliness, front desk, & other nurses are a 10/10 nothing but good things to say but Dr. Nikari not only made me feel uncomfortable but also looked like his staff was uncomfortable when he was around. I would look forward and hope that Dr. Maria Baquerizo was there when I went in.

Lower retainer with bonding agent from all teeth still attached

I was satisfied with the Invisalign process and service received, which straightened my teeth to my satisfaction. Having spent $5000+ on the treatment, I was keen to maintain the benefit and thus paid for the permanent lower jaw retainer bar (at a cost of $595). This initial bar remained intact for just over 3 years (while I continued to wear the night-time retainer). To my surprise, the bar eventually came loose and needed replacement. Therefore, Smilebar replaced the bar for an additional cost to me of $595, which I figured was reasonable given my initial experience. However, this newly replaced bar came off after just over 4 weeks while eating breakfast. Smilebar agreed to replace the bar at no cost, given it came off within such a short time. However, the second replacement bar came off after just over 4 months, this time completely (i.e. including the bonding agent on all 4 teeth) while eating toast (and during which time I continued to use the night-time retainer). When I once again contacted Smilebar and explained my dissatisfaction and frustration with the bar, I was told that I would need to pay yet another $595 for a replacement. I was also informed that the bar itself is only warranted to be replaced free of charge within the first 2 months post-installation. I was taken back that Smilebar took no accountability or consideration that perhaps the retainer bar was not being installed correctly, especially considering this latest iteration came loose in its entirety, including the bonding agent. Additionally, the lower bar retainer is meant to be a permanent apparatus, which should last upwards of 10 years+ and not months if installed correctly. Smilebar failed to provide quality service beyond my initial experience and also failed to disclose that the device, following installation, would only be warranted for 2 months. I would seriously consider pursuing other practices that are transparent with their patients and can provide a level of expertise that reflects the cost of service being charged to their patients, which is why I am providing a 2 star review.

Ok, let me start with my complicated Orthodontics history…read more This is my 3rd time getting braces (ya, no kidding). My first braces experience in elementary school was with Orthodontics students due to budget concern -- of course that didn't go well and they started me on a second round treatment right afterward. The supervising dentist at the time even told me that I didn't need retainers. So after getting into my 30s, my teeth alignment is out of place again. Now I have open bite. So I decided to do braces again. I went to 2 other orthodontists for consultation before choosing Arlington Orthodontics. One was widely referred by colleagues but her practice was too far, and her quote wasn't as competitive. Another was way too pushy in selling their service and even told me they can expedite the process from 20 months to 14 months. If you know something about adult teeth, you never want to rush your Orthodontics treatment. It can cause the root of the teeth to shrink, which can result in tooth loss. Dr. Lind green was the only orthodontist who spent the resources to take dental X-ray and 3D scan of my teeth among all these consultation, and free of charge. He spent a good amount of time to explain how prior ortho treatment shortened my tooth root, and how he'd adjust treatment to me. He was honest up front that I may not be able to complete treatment should they find my root shortened to a dangerous length. (He said he'd X-ray my teeth to monitor treatment). I chose an honest orthodontist, knowing that I'd be in good hands. No other ortho has taken the time and patience to explain to me. After all, I am he one paying for the service! Oh, the reclining chair, AC, and music makes a good short nap during my braces appointments. Haha.

Upgrade more issues…read more Dentist. Lindgren also deliberately made my top teeth wider than my bottom teeth, resulting in misalignment. Now, all four top teeth have root canal issues, and the cost to fix this is over $20,000. On top of that, he used an intense light that left dark spots on my lips after drying the glue. It seems he did all this intentionally, with these problems only becoming apparent years later. I recorded all my visits and can provide proof if necessary. Dentist. Lindgren falsely claimed I cursed his staff, which is completely untrue. If I had, I would ask him to specify exactly what was said and to whom. I urge him to do the right thing. This behavior is unprofessional and immature. Dentist. John Lindgren and his wife, both highly educated and quick to defend themselves, seem skilled at deflecting criticism rather than addressing the real issues at hand. Despite their credentials, their behavior throughout my treatment was unprofessional and disrespectful.

If you have a complicated orthodontic case and/or are a likely candidate for maxillofacial surgery,…read moreyou cannot mess around with your everyday neighborhood orthodontist. You need someone who has dealt with hundreds and thousands of cases like yours -- and harder. You want to be a boring case for them, not the one complicated case they see in their entire career. And for all this, Dr. Klein is absolutely the person you're looking for. I did countless hours of research before originally going with her and I am so glad that I did. I'm part of a jaw surgery recovery group and I cannot tell you the number of horror stories I've read about people going to incompetent orthodontists who do not understand what they are looking at and do not understand that certain cases require surgery *and* orthodontic work combined. They just pull out teeth and put on regular braces that end up making situations way, way worse. I cannot underscore enough the importance of avoiding this. Not only can it be physically devastating but the psychological toll, as attested to by so many in this group, is extreme. As I mentioned, my own case is pretty much as complicated as they come. I ultimately had to get a bilateral total joint replacement (due to ICR), lower jaw surgery, Le Fort I osteotomy, septoplasty, etc. It goes on. The surgery itself was over 12 hours. Dr. Klein saw this the first time I went to her office. She knew exactly what we needed to do. And from that moment through the entire crazy thing - having to switch surgeons four times (!) - she has been the only constant. (A tale for another time but long story short, my first surgeons - surgeons at MGH! - were absolutely incompetent and awful. It was awful and I HIGHLY recommend avoiding them. Dr. Klein helped me end up with one of the best surgeons in the country for my surgery instead, even though he wasn't at MGH [which is where she was at the time]. She and the surgeon I ultimately went with were in constant contact. They could text each other!) Honestly, she's incredible. I have literally never met a doctor who cares more about her patients than Dr. Klein. And more than just "cared" but actually put in who knows how many hours figuring out how to achieve the best outcome. She gave me her cell to call. She always made time for me, though constantly busy. And she advocated for me. Go with Dr. Klein.

I am so sad that my two older sons did not have the opportunity to be patients with this practice. But I am SO grateful that my youngest son, who not only has sensory issues but who struggles tremendously with challenging, new experiences let alone ones that are not always very comfortable or pleasant, has had Katie and her staff for his braces journey. This practice is a more than a giant head and shoulders above the other two experiences I have had with orthodontists. The others were kind, professional and got the job done. ?!?! So, why is Katie so much better? It is hard to put into words how caring, honest, skilled and straightforward this practitioner is without seeming to be exaggerating. But I kid you not... she is the genuine article. Let's start with her ability to make it all look easy. The place is relaxed, clean and as she is chatting away like a good friend you are watching her expertly navigate your child's mouth and any trace of anxiety or discomfort. She makes incredibly difficult tasks look effortless and she smiles through it all. And of course, we need to talk about money. It is transparent from the get go. Financial plans and options are made available and you truly understand not only the cost but the cost benefit... every step of the way. Nothing is hidden, disguised or short-changed. And the highest quality of care is just her standard. What you are hoping for, as well as the reality of achieving this end result with realistic timing of outcomes, are explained clearly and expertly. Even more importantly, your child will be heard, attended to, motivated, supported and ultimately successful at Katie Klein. It is all the somewhat invisible intangibles.... A beyond accommodating front desk staff, frequent appointment reminders and yet no guilt or shame inducing practices when appointments are accidentally forgotten or simply missed due to a myriad of circumstances. It is all the big tangibles. You have an emergency? Or need a last minute appointment? You are not told they accommodated you. You are simply accommodated. Katie Klein and her practice are different, because she is that lightning in a bottle kind of Doctor. Real, compassionate, excellent, hardworking, non-judgmental and true to her word and ethics. You want her in your life. Your teeth and/or your child's teeth will thank you. Sure, you may leave many orthodontists with an externally beautiful smile. But it's the smile on your face that comes from working with a true heart that cares for you and your loved ones from the outside and the inside, that stays with you from here.

I would trust Dr. Sadamani's professional opinion and advice and wholeheartedly recommend Cambridge Orthodontics to anyone looking for an orthodontist! I've had my permanent retainer for 4 years before one side of my wire came popped off, which impeded my eating. I couldn't go to my orthodontist because he is based in California, so I called around to multiple orthodontic offices in Somerville and Cambridge area. Cambridge Orthodontics was able to get me an appointment within 5 days of my call, compared to other places that offered appointment slots a month out from when I called. I appreciate that they understood the urgency of my situation and tried to get me in at the earliest time possible. The visit itself was nothing short of a pleasant experience! From the staff members who aided with different parts of my procedure to Dr. Samadani's consultation, everyone thoroughly explained to me what they were doing every step of the way. Dr. Samadani was especially thoughtful in explaining the different options I had for my permanent retainer. Frankly, my biggest fear was going to an orthodontist's office that I am not a regular at and be ripped off. I was on guard that they would tell me to replace my entire permanent retainer rather than repair just the broken part. Dr. Samadani was really honest about the state of my permanent retainer and I felt that she suggested the most practical option for me moving forward. I truly appreciated her honesty and integrity most about my experience with her.
