I don't even know where to begin this review. My entire life I have struggled with confidence smiling because of my crooked smile. I was so excited to start my invisalign treatment and most importantly have always looked forward to the day I would finish my invisalign treatment. October 4, 2019 was when I got them on. I paid almost 7k$ for my treatment at smile bar. Therefore I was expecting to walk out smiling, not crying. March 15, 2022 "I finished" my treatment. I have been embarrassed to tell people I finished because I don't want them to ask me to smile since I am still very insecure about it. I was told when I paid for this treatment it would be all inclusive, so if I needed more trays I wouldn't pay extra. When I went in for my final review I expressed to the doctor that I felt like my teeth weren't done yet & his response was "you've had them on for over two years there's nothing else we can do for you, if you would like more retainers you will have to pay 1,000$" & I was honestly in shock. I then expressed to him "I don't feel like I should have to pay more money when I paid 7k$" and his response was "no you didn't you paid 6,600" (he's clearly never rounded up) I then expressed some concerns about how there was now a space next too my front tooth which was not there prior to him shaving in between my teeth which is constantly getting food stuck in it now or looks like there's something in my tooth because it is a big black gap... his response was that it wasn't from him. He suggested that I get composite bonding done to fill the hole. I didn't feel comfortable giving him more money so I responded with "I guess anything is better than they were" & he simply replied "yes" fast forward 3 weeks till my permanent retainer comes in (in this time frame I went to another dentist got a cleaning, and filling done also had a consultation for composite bonding. The dentist told me I needed to get rid of my "crowding" before getting composite bonding done and was shocked when I told him I just finished my invisalign 3 days prior) I go into my final appointment at smile bar and express these concerns to him and am completely ignored again. When I take my final retainer out of the bag to put it in my mouth it doesn't fit, even the nurse said "oh wow that doesn't fit, let me get the doctor" he then came in and shoved the retainer in my mouth, told me to wear it 20 hours a day until it feels right. I felt like the nurse was looking at him with concern and confusion. I walked out and immediately burst into tears from pain & not having confidence in my smile. Something I have looked forward to my entire life and spent a lot of money on... was not what I expected to feel when my treatment was "finished" I ended up in the emergency room that night because my gums were swollen and I couldn't get the retainers off. So for the last 3 weeks I have been wearing my final tray instead of my retainer and anytime I try to put the retainer on I am in extreme agony because it does not fit properly. I feel as though I need at least 3/4 more months of treatment which would make perfect sense seeing as during Covid (March 2020) I was scheduled to get my only rescan apt because my trays weren't fitting properly then everything shut down. So I went from March-May with no trays & my new ones came June first so 3 months lost of treatment. I also expressed concern about how much of a hard time I was having with putting my elastic bands on and off (I have long nails) and was told "would you rather have nice nails, or nice teeth) so I cut all my nails off for 6 months and still struggled putting the elastics on and off. I always felt warm and welcomed by the girls at desk, and the nurses but told my husband the doctor always made me feel belittled/uncomfortable - so much I couldn't wait to be done with my treatment. So after 2.5 years of treatment and expressing I'm not happy 7k$ later all I got from him on my final day was shoving retainers in my mouth and a good luck congrats on being finished. I am still so sad about this and wake up every morning in pain from tray. The cleanliness, front desk, & other nurses are a 10/10 nothing but good things to say but Dr. Nikari not only made me feel uncomfortable but also looked like his staff was uncomfortable when he was around. Ok so it's been 2 years since I had this done. It's fair to give my honest review now. Price- Fair Office- Clean, arts, tastefully decorated. Service- Efficient, but visits are rushed. RESULTS- Doctor said 6 months to complete, but I didn't see results until the 7th month. My treatment was complete at 13 months. I only had one bottom teeth to move in place, but of course other teeth have to get aligned to make room. I I was instructed to wear a retainer for 6 months, but I am still wearing it now after ( 14 months ) because if I don't wear it for a week, my teeth will move back. It's painful to wear it when I skip for a week. In general invisalign is less embarrassing , but not permanent and effective as braces. I should've done my research and went with invisible braces instead? read more

I was satisfied with the Invisalign process and service received, which straightened my teeth to my satisfaction. Having spent $5000+ on the treatment, I was keen to maintain the benefit and thus paid for the permanent lower jaw retainer bar (at a cost of $595). This initial bar remained intact for just over 3 years (while I continued to wear the night-time retainer). To my surprise, the bar eventually came loose and needed replacement. Therefore, Smilebar replaced the bar for an additional cost to me of $595, which I figured was reasonable given my initial experience. However, this newly replaced bar came off after just over 4 weeks while eating breakfast. Smilebar agreed to replace the bar at no cost, given it came off within such a short time. However, the second replacement bar came off after just over 4 months, this time completely (i.e. including the bonding agent on all 4 teeth) while eating toast (and during which time I continued to use the night-time retainer). When I once again contacted Smilebar and explained my dissatisfaction and frustration with the bar, I was told that I would need to pay yet another $595 for a replacement. I was also informed that the bar itself is only warranted to be replaced free of charge within the first 2 months post-installation. I was taken back that Smilebar took no accountability or consideration that perhaps the retainer bar was not being installed correctly, especially considering this latest iteration came loose in its entirety, including the bonding agent. Additionally, the lower bar retainer is meant to be a permanent apparatus, which should last upwards of 10 years+ and not months if installed correctly. Smilebar failed to provide quality service beyond my initial experience and also failed to disclose that the device, following installation, would only be warranted for 2 months. I would seriously consider pursuing other practices that are transparent with their patients and can provide a level of expertise that reflects the cost of service being charged to their patients, which is why I am providing a 2 star review. read more

They will quote you extremely high for Invisalign, offering a groupon discount that then only brings the cost down to what other offices have quoted me. I was quoted $6k at multiple offices for this service, and Smile Bar has provided me with a quote of $5,700 (including the $2,000 discount). The receptionist confirmed that therefore I would be quoted at $7,700 without the discount. Almost $2k more than any other office in Boston?! Deceiving... Hard pass. read more

Would highly recommend this place for Invisalign. The doctors are smart, thorough, and don't try to swindle you out of money at every visit. For the greater Boston area, their cost of Invisalign is quite competitive and fair (and was the lowest quote I received). Just be aware that the upfront price excludes 4 sets of retainers at the end of treatment that many other practices provide (you do get one set included). However, even adding on the cost of the extra three the treatment is still less than the competitors I scoured. I was told my treatment was expected to take about 11 months, though after taking scans, my teeth were projected to actually get to the place they expected in 9 months. Be ware of places that claim upfront they will fix your teeth in 3 months and quote you thousands of dollars as they are probably trying to scam you! I was actually quoted a price from another dentist in Boston of $7000+ for 3-month treatment, with the price increasing as the length of treatment increased. The team at Smilebar do things properly and tell you upfront it can take 9-11 months that you pay one flat fee for (over installments), even if your treatment ends up being finished earlier or you need a few more months for refinements. They are knowledgeable and ethical and their treatment plan was thorough, including attachments, rubber bands (with instructions on how to wear them adapting as the treatment progressed), and several sets of refinements. Fixing orthodontic issues takes time. The orthodontists at Smilebar carefully look at your teeth and suggest excellent incremental corrections to your bite and smile - the proof is in the pudding (you get most if not all your trays at once so just compare the final set of trays to the first set to see how far your orthodontist expects your teeth to go) so as long as you wear them as directed and are patient, you should get to where you want. Ultimately, after all the refinements, I was completely done with aligners after around 12-13 months. When I went for the 9 month check, the orthodontist did say that I could be done if I wanted to because the overbite and crowding issues had been corrected so anything after that point was them just making sure I was pleased with my smile. I took them up on that offer and asked for some refinements - no additional cost. I think I had 2 or 3 rounds of refinements and at each stage the orthodontist made sure to ask me how I felt about my smile and if there were any additional tweaks I wanted. They did not attempt to charge me extra at all. Dr. Niaraki was expert at carrying out the IPR, which I was nervous about - he was very gentle and never once scraped by gums in the several occasions I had to have IPR. He listened to any questions or concerns I had and attentively addressed them. Very nice guy, not sleazy or salesy like so. many. dentists. A few times I saw some other doctors at the practice due to rotating schedules and they were equally great. After each appointment I came away feeling like the doctor's main goal (whoever it was that I had happened to see at the visit) was that I was satisfied with my smile and that they had done their part to help me get to where I wanted. I did my Invisalign program here and had a great experience. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable and use state of the art equipment. The process took about ten months for me, to go from a crooked front tooth to completely straight teeth. I've just finished my treatment and had a very positive experience. Their estimate for how long it would take was accurate, the financials were clear and discussed up front, and appointments were easy to schedule/reschedule. Staff are very friendly and helpful in person and by phone. I'm really happy with my results and honestly people really couldn't tell I was wearing retainers. Always carrying a toothbrush and floss was a small adjustment, but truthfully both my oral care and snacking habits improved. Last point - I drank a fair amount of coffee with my trays in and it was fine - just rinse with water. It's finally starting to work! It's a great feeling! Price is around the same as other places. Service is great & they are VERY prompt over email. I decided to try Invisalign because my inner teeth kept getting in the way of my tongue. Those inner teeth are definitely getting better, but the front teeth have been causing trouble as the teeth started shifting and affecting my bite. This unfortunately affected what I could eat and had a rough time for a while - I wish I had known this was a possible side-effect of having invisalign. Near the end of the original set, i was started on an additional set of 10, and my bite is finally starting to return to normal. I'm not done with the set of 10 yet, but i'm more confident that this will (finally) work! If you work around the area, I would definitely recommend this place. Also, make sure you do your research regarding invisalign in general, ask a lot of questions, bring your toothbrus/floss/mouthwash to work, etc. On the plus side, you'll probably lose some weight... I've cut out nighttime snacking b/c i'm too lazy to brush my teeth again after putting in the trays after dinner lol. I'll post some pics once the sets are done. stay tuned! read more

Overall my experience with Smilebar has been very positive and I would recommend them. The process has been easy, smooth, quick, and efficient. Dealing with insurance was easy and painless thanks to Sephra, who is amazing. She took care of filing my insurance claim for me so I didn't have to do anything, and I was able to receive the maximum reimbursement that my plan offers very promptly. The care packages provided with the aligners are also really nice and, combined with the office, give the sense of an upscale experience. However, the price for my aligners was competitive with other Invisalign providers I looked into ($5400 for a 15 month treatment plan). That said, while Dr. Niaraki seems to have a lot of expertise, he is also brusque and sometimes a bit abrupt. He often seems in a hurry to complete the appointment and sometimes I feel rushed out of the room before I have a chance to ask questions. However, Invisalign is a pretty straight-forward process so this hasn't bothered me too much. I am only 3 months into treatment so can't comment yet on the outcome, but I'm optimistic that I'll be happy with it. read more

I went in here to get braces and Dr. Niaraki was reluctant to put them on my teeth due to long-term effects of so many braces. He said to get a proper retainer and see how the teeth settle. Although I will see if we can move just the teeth that don't have short roots due to fact that I'm closing on a canine and front tooth pretty hard(I feel we only need to slightly move these two teeth), the fact that he didn't want to sell me braces was impressive. He cares more for his patients long-term tooth heath than he cares for making a few dollars. I'm impressed and would send someone there in a moment. I started my treatment three months ago with Dr. N and I am currently living in Los Angeles California. After getting through the first trays I became very used to wearing them and it's become habit to have them in now! I had a few concerns during that time and the doctor was able to make time to do virtual checkups via FaceTime and address those issues and put my mind at ease which made it so convenient because I am living far away. I had gotten an Invisalign consultation and was quoted $5500 at a different Boston orthodontist's office but thought I would try to get another quote to compare. I was on Facebook and saw an ad for Smilebar that read "$2000 off Invisalign!" I immediately scheduled my free consultation. When I arrived, the orthodontist spent probably 3 minutes with me and told me that "My treatment would usually cost $7500 but with the $2000 discount, it comes out to $5500!" Seriously? It was the same price that the other office quoted me. There is no discount! This office examines patients, adds $2000 to their cost then "discounts" it. I'm 6 months into my treatment (halfway) and my teeth have changed dramatically after 14 trays. I had a very large gap which is almost completely closed and also had crooked teeth which are almost straight. I'm almost positive in 6 more months my teeth will be almost perfect and if there not I will still be satisfied.
