I recently worked with Dr. Yoo at Smile Today to have a bonding re-done. The procedure went very well, and the dentists took great care to ensure I was happy with the results. Over the following month, I chipped the new bonding twice and needed it re-done each time. Dr. Yoo was very understanding and went out of her way to help find the cause for the repeated chipping. She worked with me to help ensure my bite wasn't putting too much pressure on the composite resin to continue to chip it. Since then, my bonding has been perfect, and I haven't had any issues. I had my first appointment today (after not having a regular dentist for a while) and was very happy with the whole experience. It's always hard to find a new dentist, but Smile Today made it very easy. The administration person I talked to to make my appointment was awesome. She took my basic info and did all the work to get my records requested and confirm my insurance coverage. When I arrived, she showed me around and made me feel very welcome. One thing I liked about this office was it has all women staff. I've had make dentists before, and by no means ever thought about gender with regard to a dentist, but I must say it's kinda nice. Everyone is very friendly, caring about my concerns and how I'd like my treatment and interactions to go. I've never been asked such questions about my desired experience at a dentist before. As for the actual procedures and services, the place is very high tech and has all the latest things for top notch care. But in addition, the office environment is very calming. And the exam rooms all have huge windows so you can just look outside instead of at a drab wall with outdated art. They also have TVs hanging high, so you can watch them if you want to. If you are looking for a new dentist practice and want very good customer service and gentle/custom care, I suggest you check this place out. It just has that X factor that sets it apart. read more

Dr. Yoo is my new favorite dentist! She's so so knowledgeable and really goes above and beyond! She has the worlds tiniest hands - so she knows how to get into each corner of your tooth without you even feeling it. But what I loved most is that she listens to her patients, she is very kind, and she will tell you every thing you need to know, and allow you to make the decision when you are comfortable. She doesn't force you to do anything( but she does a great job Of educating you!) And for that I really appreciate her! She is warm, sweet, and kind. The whole office is also very lovely. I got lost finding the office (located on 2nd floor) and the front desk staff even offered to come down and help find me! I have been going to Dr. Evelyn Kidonakis for about 5 years now. I have even brought my boy friend here as they are like family to me. Agnes who helps with the billing and estimates is awesome. Mary Lou the nurse always makes me feel at ease when I am about to get anything major done. The office is super flexible on scheduling my regular cleanings during my lunch hours 3 times a year. They take care of everything and it's a no brainer to go to this office cleaning after cleaning and year after year. If you are like me, going to the dentist isn't something you look forward to. Dr K. and her staff make it as pleasant as possible.   When you arrive they always say hello and know your name. The very first time I was there Agnes (reception) seemed to know my name- that stuck with me. I get it, I walked in on time so the most plausible explanation is they knew whos appointment was next. BUT- I went to my previous dentist for 10 years and they never did that ONCE. In fact, everyone seems to know who I am. It helps with the "comfort factor," and I appreciate that.   Marilou is Dr K's assistant. Shes very personable. I actually enjoy talking with her every time I am there. She is great company until Dr K comes in. The chairs are comfortable and there is a tv at the perfect angle for you to watch during your visit. I mention that because I NEED the distraction from whats going on in my mouth.    Dr K is great. She makes sure you are comfortable and not in pain at all. Shes constantly checking in to make sure all is well. Its very different than other experiences Ive had- it makes the process as comfortable as possible. Dr K and Marilou well keep the conversation going during your procedure and make sure you are included. I mention that because in the past Ive had this happen and have been completely ignored. Something also of note, I was in recently for an issue with an old filling and I noticed that I had also chipped a tooth. Dr. K was nice enough to fix it during the same appointment- I didn't have to go in again. That was much appreciated.    Agnes (reception) is very easy to work with and helps you with insurance and appointments. She never seems like you are bothering her. Also.. shes very honest. I paid for a procedure and my insurance came back to cover some of it. Agnes made sure to let me know I had a credit on my account because of it. They all also seem to really care how you are doing after every procedure. This past time I received 2 calls just making sure I was OK. Im very happy I found this place. I have a tragic and sordid dental history. When I was a spunky, but wee 6 year old lass, I had a playground accident that affected 1 of my 2 permanent front teeth. I spent the next 10 years in and out of various dental industry chairs; getting braced, spaced, pulled, jabbed, and finally bridged. As a result I am TERRIFIED of dental offices. It's not the pain that scares me so much as it is that I've been Pavlovian trained to be gripped by cold sweats, tension and fear at the mere site of one of their leather reclining chairs. Well, it's been 5 years since I'd seen a dentist and now that I gots me a real job with great benefits I knew I had to face the drill again or lose my precious teeth and flush 10 years and probably $20,000 of work down the drain. My friend recommended Dr. Kidonakis and her team and I'm ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDED! I filled out form a week before and was very honest about my anxiety. Everyone there has been beyond sweet to me. The Drs husband was super friendly when I first walked in the door. Mary Lu at the front desk is Adorably Sweet and gentle. Volha, the hygienist is really chatty and bright and the Dr. does EVERYTHING in her power to make you feel comfortable. My first trip there was just an assessment and x-rays. Dr. Kidonakis is all about continuing education and keeping up to date with the newest technology, she has some really cool gadgets that she puts to work making sure she's doing everything she can to care for teeth that need it and keeping the rest of your mouth from needing her care. My second trip was a cleaning and I was, predictably, very frightened and anxious. By the time I walked out of there, less than an hour later, I was so proud of myself. It'd gone just fine and Dr. Kidonakis made sure to check in with me frequently to make sure that was so. I have to go back next week to get my first (and second, third and fourth) cavities filled and thanks to the kind expertise shown me by all the people in this classy office I'm only a little scared. Which is saying A LOT. It's not in the city, but with commuting times as they are on CTA it doesn't take more time to drive the half hour to their office. I've been coming to this office for more than 10 years now and I've never been happier with a doctor's office. Before coming to Dr Kidonakis I went to an overpriced, mediocre dentist in downtown chicago who'd charge crazy prices to pay for his high rise office's rent. It seemed like everything this guy would do failed within a year or so. He'd always blame it on me, saying I must've bit into something too hard or I'm not brushing right. I'd pay for the redos again and again. When Dr. Kidonakis does something, it sticks. She bonded the space between my two front teeth about 10 years ago and it's still holding. 2 dentists prior have attempted this feat and both failed within 6 months. She's done fillings and root canals which are still holding like new, years later. She's great about explaining what's going on and educating me about all my options before I make a decision. I've only been a patient for the last year since relocating to Glenview. The office located in the area of the Glen is just off of Willow and Patriot and very handy to my home/work. After a busy year, I finally got back this week to taking care of my teeth, even with a bit of plaque built up every thing went well. With two older fillings showing their age and a chipped tooth that needed some attention, we made a follow up appointment and re-worked the fillings and fixed the chipped chopper. In all I was in the chair for three hours, some that might seem like torture and Dr. Kidonakis was always checking how I was doing, I think I actually almost fell asleep a few times I was so relaxed. First off, disregard any negative reviews. I have had many negative dental experiences before Smile Today Dental. I have had places mess up my teeth permanently leaving discoloration and me worse then i started out. Smile Today never once made me feel bad about my teeth or even made me feel like it was my fault that my teeth look the way they do. The whole staff is extra friendly and caring. It just few months we came up with a plan and were able to return my smile back to the way it once was. They listen to my concerns of money and what my insurance covers, and we got it all worked out. I actually really enjoyed my visit with Dr. Evelyn AND her staff. I had to go in for an emergency dental situation. I set up the appointment, the SAME day and they took me in DURING my lunch break. When I walked in, I filled out paperwork and before I could even finish it, they were ready to see me. :) Once I was inside, they were quick to take photos and x-rays, and they listened to me as I shared the reason for my visit. They didn't rush me and I really value that. I found out that the situation was worse than I would like and I got emotional and they handled it well. They listened to me and comforted me and that TRULY touched me and the dentist even provided me with solutions to help ease the pain. The dental assistant was fantastic, she really was amazing and I loved having her as part of my experience there because she was just so nice. The rest of the staff was also just great. Everyone smiled a lot and even introduced themselves to me by name. They were gracious and I enjoyed how they interacted with me. Although I agree with other reviewers regarding the cleanliness of the facilities as well as the modern technology I find the dentist's practices to be deceiving and manipulative. She's on the preventative kick - suggesting all types of procedures that are not typically needed to receive proper dental care. She also pushes teeth whitening as well as other cosmetic procedures, which are unnecessary to obtain a healthy set of teeth or gums. There are, however a few specific experiences that have left me with a bitter taste. The first was her interaction with one of her employees. While I was being treated by the dentist and the assistant I witnessed fist hand the treatment of her employees. It seemed as if the dentist had held a staff meeting prior to my appointment. During my appointment the dentist sat there questioning the assistant about what she learned during the meeting. If the dentist didn't agree with the answer given by the assistant she would let her know the answer wasn't acceptable and continue questioning her. Belittling her with her tone & selection of words. It made me extremely uncomfortable being in such an unprofessional situation. The second negative experience was with my son. I had visited with the dentist the week prior to one of my son's visit. The dentist wanted to take a full mouth scan of my teeth - this after taking a full set of x-rays. I declined, seeing that both procedures were extremely similar and simply seemed like a waste of money to me. The following week my son, who just turned 18, had a visit with the dentist. While I was in the waiting room and my son was being treated the dentist asked him how old he was - when she found out that he was 18 she told him that he can now make his own decisions concerning his dental care. She then proceeded to manipulate him into receiving the same procedure that I declined for myself the prior week. And I am now stuck with a $600 bill from her. A $600 bill for a visit that was suppose to be for one filling - $600 balance due after my insurance coverage. This woman will find a way to deplete the entire yearly allowance through your insurance and then turn around and find something else that you must have done. She will continue to discuss procedures that are not necessary, all well bumping up your balance with her. If you decline due to money they will then pressure 'care credit' so you can afford it. She also makes you sign a waiver stating that her work is only guaranteed if you see her twice a year for cleanings & service. Basically forcing you back into her office, allowing her to continue the trend of squeezing more money out of your pocket. Dr Kidonakis is deceiving and manipulative - and although she may have a beautiful office she always attempts to get every single penny she can out of both you and your insurance company, she is rude to her staff, she suggests unnecessary procedures & will take full advantage of your children 'making their own dental decisions' even though you're the one with the coverage & responsible for paying the costly invoice. read more
