I visited for an extraction and Dr. Figueroa and his team were so attentive and patient. They took the time to explain exactly what would happen, the risks, and answer all of my questions. I felt well cared for and comfortable. I expressed my dental anxiety to Dr. Figueroa and he was compassionate and offered assistance by way of laughing gas for my extraction. The extraction couldn't have gone better. Dr. Figueroa talked his was through the procedure, which was helpful. They have a cozy little recovery room for post-op and then you're on your way. Can't speak highly enough about this team and my experience.

The…read morefront desk employee was eating a snack while speaking with me, and her mouth was so full that it was difficult to understand what she was saying, which felt very unprofessional from the start. I was told they couldn't bill my insurance because they were out of network and that the visit wouldn't be covered. Based on what happened afterward, that information appears to have been incorrect. They did bill my insurance, and when I later received my Explanation of Benefits (EOB), my actual patient responsibility was significantly lower than what I had been charged on the day of the appointment. I found this experience extremely frustrating and concerning. Being given inaccurate information about insurance coverage and being charged more upfront than what I ultimately owed left me feeling misled. I plan to pursue this matter further with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office because I believe these billing practices should be reviewed. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly encourage others to do their research and proceed with caution before seeking care here. I expected much better communication, transparency, and professionalism.

Since I was informed I needed a tooth pulled, I had an impending sense of doom. I'm proud of how quickly I scheduled the consultation (due to the end of the Flex Spending deadline). In advance of my appointment, my dentist sent the xrays to Dr Jacob's office and I both dreaded that they would pull my tooth that day, or that I would have to return to have it done. My primary care physician also recommended Dr. Jacobs. When I arrived at the office, it was the most glamorous dental office I'd ever seen. There was a separate room to fill out paperwork. There was a separate waiting room with a large TV. They didn't shove anything into my mouth to take xrays -- the camera flew around me like a 360 degree photo booth. They told me that they would pull the tooth that day -- was I more terrified or more relieved? Dr Jacobs was very caring and supportive when I told him I was quite nervous. He was very patient and explained each step that would happen. The worst, of course, was the injection of novocaine. However, as he said, it took no longer than 10 minutes to extract the tooth. The staff was very detailed with the after care. They called me when I returned home and Dr Jacobs called me later that evening to check on me. While I hope I never see Dr Jacobs ever again, chances are that my teeth will let me down sometime in the future. At least I know what to expect, and Dr Jacobs and his practice are the very best.

Our ortho thought Dr. Mark Jacobs would be a good fit for what she needed done and her "high maintenance" personality. I liked that he was an anesthesiologist before an oral surgeon since I assumed we would have to knock her out for the procedure. We were able to get in for a consultant within a week and the procedure a week later. The building itself is pretty old and I feared the elevator was going to break down on us, but the office itself is beautiful and not what you'd expect in this older building. During the consultation Dr. Jacob and his lovely staff put us both at least. They were very clear on what the procedure would entail and how to make it as pain free as possible. He gave us a few options for pain management and she chose a drink that would put her to sleep. They even asked what flavor she likes and she asked if they had any shirley temples. No such luck, but lots of fruit juices to choose from. The day of the procedure I expected to have to drag her into the office, but she went willingly since the consultation was so smooth. The hardest part was that she really didn't like the taste of the drink, but they were very patient as she took forever to gag it down. From there it the procedure itself was easy. She was drowsy and cranky the rest of the day, but it went way better than I expected. Today she had a quick follow-up (one week later) and was told she can resume eating whatever she wanted. Hooray! Everyone in the office was lovely once again and I will go back to them for any future oral surgeon needs (ex: wisdom teeth) for my family, but hopefully we don't have too many.

Secondly, they had a very comfortable waiting room with various snacks and lightning fast Wifi. This is where the good stuff abruptly ended. When I was called to come in we were led, instead of to an examining room, to an office. The office employee then told me and my wife that before they could see me they wanted an immediate payment of $398 for 3-d x-rays. I then told this person since I have insurance that the usual procedure would be for the office to provide the service, submit the claim to my insurance company and then bill me for the balance. She said she would immediately talk to her insurance coordinator and left the room. She came back 10 minutes later and told us that we would have to pay $197 immediately and bill the insurance the balance. I reiterated that all dental offices we have dealt with did the service first, billed the insurance, and there would be an EOB for us to remit the rest. She insisted on this prepayment, we informed her that this is not the way we do business, and walked out of the office, That is why this office went from 5 stars to 1 star in less than a half hour.

Said it was such a big job, I had to do it in 2 separate appts. I came in for first procedure of right side. I had some problems with side effects of the anesthesia later in day, He did not return my phone call for three days after my many attempts at leaving messages. That alone is alarming. So with that raising issues I had to see another dentist (actually 2 different highly qualified dentists) who both found that I did not have any pockets Dr. Landau saw. If he said both sides needed scaling and emphasized how bad they were.. then why was the other side he didn't do yet perfect without any signs of pockets? I refused to pay him for the half of the procedure he performed and he actually seemed ok with that -never perused me or sent a bill. That alone shows he admitted wrongdoing as he knew he couldn't argue or pursue this. I just hope patients can do their research to see the many dissatisfied patient reviews online. There have been many others just like myself that I wish I saw before I started with him. However I have notices that he seems to get many of these bad reviews removed from here. Also beware when you see a ton of rave reviews for doctors on who have bad reviews as they are putting up these bogus good reviews to balance out the bad ones. Keep in mind that there are usually few to no reviews for most doctors, even the good ones. People know who the well established top doctors are w/o Yelp. But don't be duped and fall for doctors on these review sites who have their friends and family post lots of good ratings to offset the bad ones. Just beware that this dentist is mostly motivated by money and not your best interest!
