I asked the front desk if this would be a covered procedure through my insurance and they advised it would not be, so I paid CASH ($1826.00). They did say that they could try to file it with my insurance and if anything was covered, I would receive a refund check, most likely from the practice. I agreed and had the treatment completed by Dr. Ryan Brennan, which was 5 stars and I am very happy with. Three weeks post procedure, I receive a bill from Advanced Endodontics (AE) for $21, which is listed as Intraoral Periapical First Film (i.e.: x-ray), which I already paid my CASH price of $149.00 -for an Oral Eval which included an x-ray, (which is what the front desk told me was going to occur). When I called to inquire with Leslie in Billing at AE, she first informs me with no hesitation that she sees the charge and has no idea what the $21.00 is for and doesn't understand why I was charged. She placed me on hold to check with the front desk. When she returned to the phone, she advised me that because they (AE) filed with my insurance to see if anything was covered, I had to pay $21. She said if they had not submitted it to my insurance then I would not have had to pay because I was a CASH payer. Nobody up to today ever told me there was a fee to submit the bill to my insurance and why AE would show it as an x-ray charge only shows that they are attempting to cover or hide the fees for the erroneous $21 charge. On my original procedure / payment receipt there is no indication of a pending charge, outstanding balance or stipulation for a charge to file with my insurance. She (Leslie) informed me if I didn't pay the $21 it would be sent to collections. This is very wrong in so many ways. She said information, or lack of, about a charge is not the responsibility of the front desk job, so regardless, I must pay. She said it is a legal contractual agreement with my insurance that I must pay. The most concerning point is AE attempting to cover the cost of the insurance submission as an x-ray charge, which is bordering on billing fraud. I guess to top it off was her dismissive attitude during the conversation on the phone. This $21 charge is not going to change my life, but now it's all about principle: Advanced Endodontics billing procedures, what is being told at the front desk, the treatment on the phone by Leslie and the way it was billed as an x-ray. This seems to be a way to charge customers for manipulated charges and billing irregularities.

I clicked the link, entered my card and verified I was a human. Then there was no submit button or way to submit. I figured i would call them but got busy and forgot. Fast forward to a week ago, received another email and same thing no way to process the payment after entering details. I was going to be driving by the office on Friday so I figured I'll just stop in and take care of it. It would also give me chance to understand what the charge was for and reschedulemy next appointment as I'm going to be out of town in Feb. When I stop in, I'm informed the account is in collection and the office can't do anything. "Here is a number you have to call" was basically the girls response. When I tried to explain that I couldn't understand why it would be in collection, I was told "You will have to call Corporate, we can't do anything". It was at this point that I learned Royal Oks Dental is really a part of some huge dental corporation- mind you the corprate name is not on anything and the office couldn't even provide anything with its name. The simply gave me a post it with a phone number they looked up online. I was able to get a print out of all my charges as far back as their records go and canceled my furniture appointments. I was told the office manager would call me. I asked to speak with the manager and was informed she wasn't there. When I asked for her number I was told they don't give that out and when I asked when she would be back in the office I was told that she would calll me. Surprise - no call It's really a shame I now have to find a new dentist because of this. Went here they tool like 30 x rays I knew that was not something I would go again, then looked in my mouth said I needed deep cleaning, I said I will get another opinion before I do that as I never had a problem. Second opinion, no need for deep cleaning everything fine. I called them back as asked if they would just do regular cleaning, would not return my phone calls. How in 6 months I could have all those problems is a red flag. I also think my dental savings plan is lousy all places like Greenberg and Aspen....

I should not have had pain for 4 months and that my crowns shouldn't be popping off in less than a year and that when a patient says do a root canal now and the dentists doesn't but leaves me in pain for months and now a root canal needed. I also asked for a little more expensive build up on a molar crown and she said no not needed, well i could see there was hardly any tooth for the crown to hold onto and guess what it has come off twice in less than a year, it's a molar needs stability to chew or why bother. The staff was ok . I am sad that now i have to re spend the money and more because she didn't do as I asked in the first place.
