I had never had a female dentist before, but it was hands-down the right choice. Both of them are young, beautiful, highly professional, and have a killer sense of humor. I told Dr. Adele on first visit about my extreme anxiety when having procedures. She and staff assured me that they would always "take care of me" when I needed procedures. I had loved the staff and dentist here as they made me feel very comfortable. Fast forward to a month ago when, for the first time, I had a cracked tooth that needed to be repaired. At first I spoke with the doctor and the hygienist, I indicated that I would need some type of medication to reduce my anxiety during the procedure. Dr. Adele offered me "in house sedation " as well as nitrous oxide " to reduce my anxiety prior to the procedure." I told her that I would gladly have a prescription for my procedure so that I could complete the treatment as I had numerous times at my dentist in Washington. I was given a cost estimate for the procedure. It included a charge of $500 for "in house sedation!" I asked the hygienist what this was. She told me it was a high dosage of Valium! $500! I told her that I wouldn't pay for that "in house" and that I would request the prescription for me to take prior to the procedure. She agreed to take it off of my bill. I thought that the dentist would then prescribe me a sedative to take the morning of my appointment, as many of my past dentists had done. I even called 10 days prior to my appointment and was THEN told "she (dentist ) didn't write prescriptions in advance for treatments"! What?? So much confusion! I tried to explain my past communication and was shut down. So I accepted that I would have to endure the procedure with only the "nitrous oxide". As I had gotten used to this office I wanted to try to go through with the procedure, even though I was extremely nervous. The day before the appointment I received a call from the practice saying that they wanted my pharmacy info?? They told me that they were informed to get my pharmacy so they could send a"high dose prescription for Valium" so THEY could pick it up and give it to me the morning of my procedure!! For $500! I told them that ALL of my dentists in Washington had called in a prescription so that I could pick it up and go thru my insurance so I could take it the morning of the appointment and I paid $12 for that Rx!!!!! The office staff then told me that would only charge me $250 for the Rx as I had a problem with the charge!!! What kind of scam is this??? $500 for a $12 pill? Then reduced to $250 when I questioned it?? This is not a practice that focuses on their patients! How much profit do they think is ok????? As I spoke with the office manager, Stephanie, she said that this was in fact the office procedure. I immediately cancelled my appointment and told them that I was seeking another dentist office who cared more about their patients and didn't try to scam them out of $500! It was not just about not prescribing something for my anxiety. It was largely about the COST they imposed on "taking care of their patients ". Shame on you Dr. Adele. Do better.

Since then it's been a revolving door of just ok dentists. The only constant has been Dave the dental hygienist, he is very good. He uses a device that vibrates and sprays water to clean teeth and it works very well, teeth feel smooth and it removes tea stains from behind my front teeth. He encourages good gum health, told me not to brush my teeth as hard as I do. (Based on that I purchased a water pick to see if I could get my gums healthier. I am happy to report the water pick has improved my gum health! I no longer bleed during dental exams!!) Most visits you only deal with the X-ray person and the hygienist. Aspen is very booked out for cleanings. In the past two years we have only been able to get one cleaning per year for our older children due to aspen cancelling for new dentist and their new hours.
