I went to them in November because I had a cracked tooth that I couldn't afford to take care of without US dental insurance. I was in between plans so I was fortunate to be able to travel to TJ and they value it in my tooth and it was so cracked that I couldn't just get it repaired instead they had to pull it and put it in implant. It was taken care of that day with meticulous care. I know the dentist has a very high-level of attention to detail, which I really appreciated. I am going to go back in April to have the crown completed. I was there for several hours as they did a lot of work to evaluate my tooth then pull the cracked tooth and place the implant. Yesterday I went to a local dentist office. I was given a quote of 14k for a 3 teeth bridge Just now I looked up the paperwork from this dental office only to realized the current broken crown was done by this office less than 2 years ago I am appalled that a zirconium crown can be broken within 2 years for I chose and paid for the best type which is the zirconium crown. Wasted my time, money and gas to make these trips Do I have confident to drive down and make them re-do the broken crown? Do I trust them to do a 3 teeth bridge for me? I guess I'll be staying locally and get the dental bridge done. I don't know what happened to the excellent work from this office but it seems the ladies that worked there are no longer there plus Dr Elias is no longer there. I used to give this dental office, a five star review, in fact, I would recommend it to family and friends. However, after having multiple attempts, trying to fix a tooth and this office selling me on a root canal, then because that failed they sold me on a tooth extraction, and dental implant followed by a crown, and failed to place the crown twice since September 2023, I can say my review has completely changed of smile builders. I don't know if this is a management issue or if this is a professional staff issue but I have been to TJ since September just under 10 times. As of the last three weeks they attempted to put a new crown over an implant, I returned essentially every week because they did the job wrong and till this day there is food that still gets under my crown on my implant. I saw Karen in the United States to try and fix or salvage whatever I could from the job that was done in TJ, but I was not able to because the folks at this dental office use products that have been discontinued. My dental office in the United States asked me to get the impression and analog, so they could fix the crown over the implant, after they called the manufacture but were told those tools were discontinued. I asked smile builders to please provide me with these items so I can get this fixed in the United States. Seeing as my attempts in Mexico had failed me after visits. This office refused to provide me with the information my dentist needed to fix their lousy job. I reached out to multiple dentist in the United States, and apparently asking for this information is standard and is never denied. However, smile builders only gave me the size of the implant and the manufacturer of the implant. That is not enough to get the ground redone in the United States. So if you were thinking about going to Mexico to make an unfortunate dental experience, better and save some money, do not come here because it may seem like you are saving money, but in the long run, I promise you, you are not saving money because you will just have to redo this entire process in the United States when you figure out that they use products that are discontinued. This office is rooted on solely making money not the quality of care or patient's health. I also write this review with the disclaimer that I tried to work with smile builders to salvage this situation and just get things done right here and they were of no help, so it was my duty to warn others, as I once advised to visit. I got a massive infection (1/23/2023) on one of the crowned teeth done by Smile Builders (Dr Dominguez, 11/3/2021) so I went to my local Dentist to get it checked out and treated. They put me on a heavy dose of antibiotics for 2 weeks. Turns out that the crown that they used was just way too big for the tooth. It felt right at the time but on the X-rays it literally looks like a mushroom on top of it. More importantly it allowed debree to get inside. Also the crown fell out during this time. Unfortunately there wasn't enough tooth that left so my only option was to get an implant. Also they didn't remove enough of the cavity on the tooth above it for a composite filling. My local Dentist wanted to know who did such poor quality work. I never told him because I didn't want to get the I told you so speech. So basically everything had to be redone a year later. Add in the fact that my Insurance Company wouldn't cover any of the work done there and it made it ultimately VERY expensive. read more

It took me years to find a Dental office in Mexico that made me feel completely comfortable to take my mom. She needed extractions/implants and a snap in upper denture. I have been working in the Dental field for 14 years in the USA so I have the knowledge of every dental procedure. I have work with Oral Surgeons, Endodontist, Prosthodontist, and General. I called to many offices in Tijuana and Guadalajara but after telling them exactly what my mom needed they wouldn't get back to me (it seemed that they didn't like the idea that I have knowledge and knew what she needed) I found smile builders online, I sent them an email and within few days they got back to me, I told them what my mom needed and I let them explain to me the steps and the procedure, everything was so clear and felt right, just what I got taught over the years. This was the best dental experience I've ever had. I'm 36 and still have (had) all of my wisdom teeth. A few bothered me now and again, and one had a cavity. Not a single dentist was willing to do a filling on my tooth even when I asked. Those dentists also quoted me $5k USD and more. I was incredibly nervous and anxious. However, all the anxiety started to go away when I met the doctor and we got started. He evaluated everything, and said exactly what I thought: no need to do all this work. Only a single tooth needed to be removed. He was able to fill the other tooth no dentists at home would do. The doctor and all the staff speak perfect English as well, and the office is immaculate. Every step of the way I felt safe and in control. He explained every detail and answered every question. There was no rushing. It was completely patient focused. He allowed me to say when to stop, when to keep going, ask for more medication. I truly did not think I could do this without sedatives, but he started with just a tiny filling to see if I could do it. That was so easy we did more, and that was so easy, we did the extraction - no sedatives. I never felt a single needle go in, ever. Maybe just a little discomfort. We just listened to Fleetwood Mac the whole time and then it was over. No biggie at all. Now its a couple hours later - numbness has worn off. I feel fine. There's a great pharmacy 3 stores down. She filled my antibiotics, anti inflammatory and some ibuprofen for $30usd. I'm still going to submit the bill to insurance, but this entire thing ended up being 80% less than I was going to get taken for in the US. Do yourself a favor and come down to Tijuana. Dr. Avy also goes by Dr. Abie worked on my front teeth. She is a liar. Do not trust her with your cosmetic dental needs. She works here at Smile Builders and at TJ Endodontics. I spent 4.5 HOURS in a dental chair mouth open for all those hours for her to shape Two Veneers. In the end I was left in horror! I could not close my mouth or let alone chew food! While I stand by my initial review stating the staff and office are first rate, I felt it important to give an accurate report. What I had trouble with was the actual product itself. I got 8 veneers and two crowns. The veneers on the left side look terrible. The wrap isn't complete, you can see the outer area of my tooth (shouldn't be able to see that). I will likely be replacing 3 of the 8 veneers this year. I also had an extremely difficult time when I got them. They kept breaking without reason. I had to go back 3 additional times and had to get more shots, more temporaries put in and ultimately just decided to live with what I got. They are trying to build up this practice, as it is the newest of his two clinics, and so they are offering specials for people who want to come down. I love the staff at both clinics, and Dr. Guevara is so helpful and patient, and I know when I come back to get four crowns replaced (that were put on my teeth by American dentists, and that I am now having problems with) I will have another great experience. I had years of backlog of dental work to be done and they were able to accommodate 4 different specialists to get all of it done in one day.
