Just finished my first phase of my implant treatment with Dr. Vic, Dra. Angie, and Emmanuel. Okay -- this might be a little early since I'm still healing (hoping for a smooth recovery ), but honestly, my experience so far has been nothing but solid. From getting picked up in San Diego, to the procedure itself, to being dropped back off -- everything was handled. Here's how it went: SERVICE: This place had good energy from the start. Not sure if all three are related to each other, but I felt at home and they treated me like family. Super friendly, laid-back, and genuinely kind people. Coming from Hawai'i, where Aloha Spirit means everything, and having lived around LA long enough to appreciate good customer service -- this was the perfect combo. They made me feel comfortable, cared for, and never like "just another patient." OFFICE: Alright -- let's keep it real. If you're a fellow American and you are reading this: You're looking for a more affordable, solid dental option outside the U.S. If you're expecting some Beverly Hills, spa-style, influencer dental clinic... stay in America. But honestly, even in Beverly Hills, service can be trash. Now, about those people complaining about having to head to another office for a scan -- come on now. At least they drive you there! I had to do it too, but it was easy, handled, and stress-free. The office itself? Very clean, simple, efficient -- no fluff, no drama. They even offered me a blanket when it got cold. It's the little things DENTAL TREATMENT: I'm fresh out the chair with implants, so still in healing mode -- but the care I got was top-notch. Anytime I felt even a little discomfort, they were on it, no hesitation. Long day, but so worth it ***Fun fact -- Dr. Vic let me know that a deep cleaning I had done less than two months ago in LA was totally botched. He found infections, cleaned everything up, and when I got back to my hotel, my mouth felt spotless, looked brighter, and just felt better. He even took extra time to clean the tooth he was planning to extract the next day. That level of care is rare. COMMUNICATION: At first, I was messaging Doctora Angie using Google Translate because I wanted to be respectful -- turns out, she speaks English! All three of them do, actually. Angie is super sweet and made sure my whole experience was solid -- from my first call to even recommending which beach to go swim at. Communicating with all three of them was easy. Any questions I had were answered, and any concerns were addressed. They made sure I was always in the loop, and that really made a difference for me. TRANSPORTATION / LODGING: Since I was traveling solo, I took the train from LA to SD -- 1) no traffic stress, 2) it's been a while since I crossed the border, and 3) let's be honest, with how politically things have been lately, it's just easier. Not sure if they offer this to everyone, but when I shared my situation, they gave me options, including them providing me rides from SD, through the border, and back to SD. Basically a chauffeur service. Emmanuel, the assistant, was awesome -- super cool, easygoing, and made those drives smooth. Also, they've got hotel deals. I stayed at Quartz -- priced nicely in the mid-range with a hot tub and pool. Perfect place to chill after a dental procedure. (Yep -- I'm literally writing this from the hot tub.) Bottom line: If you're looking for a dental crew that'll treat you like family, has great energy, and does legit work -- this is the spot. I still have a couple more visits to go before my implant journey's done, but I'm stoked we found a team we can trust. Would definitely recommend. read more

Harmony Dental Studio - Cosmetic Dentists Near Me - Tijuana, BCN

Today, 8-09-19 will be my 10th and final visit to Harmony Dental. I waited to write this to give a proper honest review. Improper oral hygiene along with the fact that I don't like going to the dentist finally caught up and I needed much work done. This included 6 roots canals/crowns, 2 bridges, 1 bone graft. I know, it's a lot. I did my research thoroughly, as I was very weary of traveling to Mexico from Orange County. I literally spent about 2 weeks researching each Dentist there were in Tijuana, no joke. I compared each review on different platforms, reached out to previous patients, read and then read more. My process of reviewing started with 1 star reviews. For some offices, there were way too many, and they would be crossed off my list. Honestly, some of the ones I read were quite scary, to the point I reconsidered even traveling all together. I narrowed the search down to my top 3, and I reached out to all three of them. The top choice I reached out to didn't have an appt. until three weeks out for a Saturday...which seems to be the most busiest day. The second one I reached out to, I think had a coordinator doing scheduling, he didn't give me the information I needed so they were crossed off the list as well. Harmony dental was one of the later ones I found. I left a message, and within that day. Dr. Victor himself called me, and said they could see me the next day. After deciding to go with Harmony, I researched hard, read each of the approximate 150 different reviews on different review sites, saw a PBS video done on Border medical work, where there was a segment on dentistry, which Dr. Victor explained the benefits of traveling to Mexico and his insights. After seeing and reviewing, I was confidant I chose the right place. The morning came, and I prepared my passport, and set off for my 2 hour drive to TJ. I parked at the San Ysidro Parking lot. Once you exit the freeway, you have to make an immediate right into the parking lot. it's 18 dollars for the day, and literally across the street from Ped west crossing. Once you get into TJ, I took a short UBER drive, about 7 mins to the office. Uber is much cheaper there, and it cost about $2.50. https://www.yelp.com/biz/border-station-parking-san-ysidroaGQCF/ Once I got to the office, I was welcomed by Dr. Gloria, who is the Orthodontist at Harmony, and assists Dr. Victor as well. I took x-rays, and prior, knew I needed much work done, but after seeing the results, it was much more than I anticipated. We discussed the course of action to take, and the time frame. As far as cost, the prices are not the cheapest I found in TJ, there were many dentists that charged way less, but I didn't want to risk the chance of having to get bad work done, and to get if fixed in the States. All the work needed, if done in the OC, would cost over $15,000, so the savings I got here was about 30-50 percent cheaper. Unlike other reviews of offices, where there are different people doing different tasks, if it's taking an x-ray, to doing the root canal, someone else doing the extraction, and then a bone graft specialist. Dr. Victor does everything himself. He is very courteous, professional, and can say his work is on level with stateside Dentists if not better. He used to have an office in San Diego for many years, and got his schooling done at Loma Linda University. If my appointment was the first of that day, Dr. Victor picked me up in the parking lot, and drove into TJ together, as he resides in San Diego. Once the appointment is set, you are the only patient reserved for that time slot, no waiting at all, you sit in the chair right as you come in and everyone gets right to work. There are two friendly assistants Myra and Andy, along with Dr. Gloria to assist the Doctor. Here are some helpful tips, if you decide to give this office a visit or any office for that matter. Make sure to read as much reviews as you can, call the offices and reach out to them. If you have the extra time, set a day and visit them to make sure you are comfortable. Do not ever go for the cheapest without doing your research. I'm not saying cheapest can't be good, or the most expensive will be the best, but many of the budget friendlier reviews I read were not as good, long wait times, broken, loose crowns, infections, dirty office etc. etc. and some of the good reviews I read on the more high end side seemed fabricated. In finishing, I'm so glad I decided to go with this office. Everyone from the staff, doctor, has been a pleasure. I am happy with the work done, and looking forward to the final whitening. UPDATE: Dr. Victor is still my favorite dentist :) He must be good; I've driven from Los Angeles (2 1/2 hours) four times to see him! He is very patient and explains things thoroughly, and, of course, does great work. I thought I needed a root canal redone but he said I actually didn't, so I trust that he doesn't take advantage of people. Dr. Gloria, too, is always a pleasure, helps you feel relaxed and she's always ready with a laugh and a smile. I've gotten three Zirconium crowns (the best available but much less costly than in the US) and had a tooth pulled -- I'm very pleased with all the work so far. They are also in a good, safe location, across the street from Costco and a few doors down from a very good casual and inexpensive Mexican restaurant. You should always check that your dentist is currently licensed (like Dr. Victor)--many in Mexico aren't. It's important to note that some dental offices will have a licensed, experienced dentist whose credentials are used to 'sell' the business, but he/she might not be the one who actually performs the work on you! It may be an unlicensed or inexperienced (or both) dentist doing the actual work--I learned this the hard way. My review is limited in scope, as I elected not to have any work done here. To start with, I didn't ask about the consultation fee beforehand, and was told it was $95 - cash preferred. I'll take the blame on that; I should have asked. I used my card and saw later that I was charged $99.XX (the original denomination being Pesos and my card has no forex fee) without being told there would be a fee for using a card. Dr Martinez started the appointment by telling me how in America, the dentists are only concerned with making money - at one point, he randomly complained about homeless people. If he was different, that's cool, but he gave me no reason to believe that he is. He lives in San Diego, used to work there, and I got the feeling that he moved his office to TJ for the sake of cheaper rent, cheaper labor, and insulation from malpractice liabilities. He provided me with an extensive list of "necessary" procedures and a proportionally massive quote. I said I would not be able to afford it all at once and suggested that we start with just a portion of the suggested procedures, he balked at the idea and with a condescending air suggested I just put it all on my credit card. Fortunately, I did not ignore that red flag. His greed and hypocrisy were later confirmed, as I have since been to two different dentists (each one was hired for a procedure) and neither one suggested even a fraction of the procedures Dr Martinez did. read more

I will try to make a long story short. My girlfriend went in for an estimate for "one" tooth implant. Harmony Dental refused to do a single tooth implant, and instead recommended $6,200 worth of dental work across the top 4 smile teeth. Dr. Martinez not only refused to do a single implant, he would not guarantee any work unless we did the full $6,200 procedure (yes, he discounted -$800 to encourage the sale). His impeccible english, smooth talk and pressure lead to me signing a $1,588 VISA charge for a deposit for her work. We immediately consulted with several implant experts in U.S., who warned against the procedures Martinez recommended (it involved 4 root canals on healthy teeth). In addition, all the U.S. experts agreed there was no problem doing a single implant procedure. Alarmed, we called Harmony Dental to cancel the procedure and ask for a credit back to my Visa for the deposit. I even went to the office in person to request the refund. Martinez was unwavering and adamant that he would not return my deposit. Fast forward 16 months after this ordeal began. I sued Harmony Dental through VISA in San Diego. The judge took all of 5 minutes to hear both sides and promptly compared Harmony Dental's actions to fraud and on August 14, 2019 a Summary Judgement was issued in San Diego Superior Court in our favor. VISA was ordered to refund my full deposit plus court costs. My girlfriend has since had the single implant performed here in U.S. by a renowned dental implant expert in Laguna Nigel and saved thousands over what Martinez wanted to charge. Hello, my name is Junacie and I got my work done in July 2020, I got 6 crowns on my top front teeth. At first I wasn't satisfied on how one of the teeth came out, it needed to be cut down and when I called them about it they made sure to book me in as soon as possible to get fixed. I reccomend taking UBER once you cross the border. (Probably only $3-4 US dollars). It's only about a 3 minute ride from the border. Once inside you'll find a very professional office with state of the art equipment. It's also VERY clean inside. Plus his staff is very nice and they all speak english. Dr. Martinez was very patient with me explaining what the x-rays showed and the treatment he reccomended. The dental assistant, I apologize I forgot her name, but she was very professional and caring, she picked us up after we crossed the border abd even after our appt she called us an uber and even escorted us to the driver, we are very thankful for her. BEWARE- CON MAN-----If I could give no stars, that's what I would post, or negative stars. This guy will get on the phone with you, make you feel very important, even give you his personal cell phone number, but watch out, he's a rip off artist and con man!!! He says that he can do what you need, tells you the consult is no charge, his assistant will even pick you up at the border, and his assistant is the only good thing about his office. Suddenly she drives you to get xrays that he led you to believe he would do in the office, then by the time you get to the office, its an hour past your appt. He told me on the phone that he could do the extractions, then place the mini dental implants(that i requested because its less invasive, and cheaper), he would make the molds at my consult, then when i came back for the procedure, I would leave with my snap on denture for the price I was quoted. So i came all the way from Az, took time off of work, and I am finally sitting in the dental seat, and he changes everything. Tells me that he can't do extractions and implants on the same day, how mini implants won't fit because the teeth roots are too big, that it will require 3 visits over month's, and he'd have to do bone grafting, and oh yeah, it's $3,000 more than he said it would be! I did a lot of research, and I told him as much. I told him that I watched dentists do an extraction and then place the mini implant and tooth right away, that i chose mini implants because i learned they don't require bone grafting like full size implants require. He then went about saying that you tube lies and he's so sick of it. Then admitted that he doesn't know how to place mini implants after an extraction, but on the phone he had told me he did. I got up and walked out, upset. He starts talking up my sister, asking "do we have a deal". Thankfully I had done enough research to know that this guy wasn't right, because if I hadn't, he was very convincing about how the cheaper solution wouldn't work for me, saying the opposite of my research. He just wanted to make more money and do a procedure that ensures that I will have to keep coming back for visits. He then had the opacity to tell his assistant to charge me $95 for the consult. I refused, and i was loud because he had lied! Luckily there were other patients in the waiting room that he didn't want me to make a bad impression, so he just told me get out and i am not the right patient for him. Because i didn't go for his con, he didn't let his assistant drive us back to the border. So he left us abandoned in tijuana to find our own way to the border. I have since had consults done in America and have confirmed that yes, mini implants can be placed right after extraction and no bone grafting is necessary for mini implants. His office is 1 floor of a ghetto building, with 1 exam room only. The elevator doesnt even go up to his floor. It isnt all clean and nice like he talks it up to be. Please do not be fooled by this guy! What he is doing is dangerous. It's a gimmick to get you in his chair, where you are vulnerable and desperate to be able to eat, and you will have gone to so much effort to get there, that you will agree to what he is selling, higher cost but not higher care! read more
