A couple of months ago I was looking for a dentist for my family and I. This dentist was…read morerecommended by a good friend of mine. We decided to see him. I'm not the type of person who talks negative about a place, I always look for the positive side of it. The place is very clean, the reception staff are magnificent, their assistants are very friendly and courteous. The work that any dentist performs in general is very important for us who are looking for dental work, because we not only trust them, but we also make an expense and adjust our budget, although we have insurance, we still have to pay out of pocket. The work they did with me was a deep cleaning, that was very good by the way, and that Dr. David Garate didn't do, the work was performed by his assistant which I do not remember his name. I also needed some fillers and crown which was performed by Dr. Garate this is was my horrible experience I do not recommend him at all, do yourself a favor and not put your hands with this "dentist"
When he began to do the work on me, I had no discomfort or pain in any way on my teeth, he did the fillings that he recommended and also changed me a crown, after the work was done three days passed I had a lot of sensitivity when chewing soft or hard food, I had decided to waited a week more I thought to myself is normal it's been very recent, next week I called them to check me out because I was in discomfort. They lowered my high points and told me that this should take away my discomfort, Dr. Garate told me very sarcastically "if you come back I will pull out all of your teeth! and smile so I left. Inappropriate comment when you are going through a situation of pain, I'm sure is the last thing you want to hear and specially coming from the Dentist you trusted? The discomfort continued, for weeks, I couldn't eat with the left side, not not only that, now the right side also started bothering me same discomfort, I went back again to Dr. Garates' office so they can checked me and his diagnosis was that I had a cracked molar, that one he worked on. The right molar he could not give me a diagnosis to him his work looked good but in the mean while I continued with pain. I left without been helped, he did referred me to his endodontist friend because according to Dr. Garate I needed a root canal, by the way his friend without evaluating me send me a text with the amount that I was going to get charge of $700 dollars, and after I pay over 1,500 from my pocket and that insurance cover over 2,500 in work to Dr. Garate and what he did was absolutely trash work on me. I left very upset because he did not claim any responsibility for my suffering that he caused, I never had any discomfort before. Of course, I looked for help with another dentist not the one he referred me to, and they were able to save my molars without having to do a root canal like he recommended. My husband, who also got some similar work done by him, suffered worse, the crown they put on him caused him a terrible infection that went to the gland, this is very serious situation that could of caused my husband something more terrible, Fortunately, this new dentist was able to helped him give him antibiotic for his problem, he also returned to be checked by Dr. Garate and guess what he did absolutely nothing!! To this guy who calls himself a "dentist" and who doesn't care at all about his patients but his wallet, you must think very carefully before putting your or your family oral hygiene on him.
My second step is to raise my voice and file a complaint against Dr. Garate with the Dental Association Board of California.
