I just returned from my very first visit November 19 to Tijuana specifically for dental work at Smile Builders. Somehow I found the website on Google and they appeared exactly what I have been searching. With an implant that has failed twice, I decided on replacement with a bridge. I corresponded with Marilen on the front end and then with Dr. Gonzalez whose specialty is implants installations and surgery. He handled my implant removal and gum surgery very smoothly. It was a very good experience. As well Smile Builders arranged my Uber transfer from the San Ysidro border there and back. I'll be returning in a month for the bridge which could have been done in as quick as 3 days but I needed some added gum surgery. Highly recommend this dental office. They did a complete exam, including xrays and gave me a diagnoisis and treatment plan. I wish they were closer to my home but anytime I am nearby or planning a visit, I pan to visit. read more

Just an amazing team. The front desk associates are so sweet and helpful. They even came with me to pick up the prescriptions at the pharmacy as my Spanish is terrible. They also arranged for an Uber to pick us up once we crossed the border. When finished they call an Uber to take you back to the border. So easy, stress free and convenient. Stay far away from this dental office! I was supposed to be getting some major work done with them. Unfortunately, the situation in Tijuana is not very good right now. I let them know I needed to cancel for the foreseeable future and I would need my deposit back. No response. So, I opened a case with my bank to recover the funds. These thieves actually fought the case by saying I paid by debit card. Long story short, they literally stole $6,000 usd from me. Now they claim they can't find the money. Please do yourself a favor, we have amazing dentists in the states, many of which are very comparable in pricing. Avoid this place. They will steal from you. I took my 87 year old dad here for snap on dentures. He also had 10 teeth pulled. I called several dentists in San Diego, but it was just unaffordable. I was quoted $55,000 usd or more. I decided to check out this facility based on the good reviews. It was also in my budget. Instead of $55,000 usd it came to $16,000 usd. I had to take him several times because he needed to heal from getting his teeth pulled and getting the implants. They did a terrific job! He is very happy with the final results and he looks great! I dont usually leave a bad review, but I also hate being lied to. I was given a higher price as soon as I got in the chair, from 800 to 1100. I was also told my crown could be done within a week, that is, until I got there. And also, they told me they had nitrous, which was another lie. My 7 year old son had a baby root canal, a filling and a crown on one of his teeth done here - all for $280!! Where in America would that ever happen? No where! This office is super sleek and everyone that works here was so kind and helpful. Dr Lares did my son's dental work and was so patient and easy to work with. You don't have to speak Spanish to go here. They speak English! It was such a great experience and so easy to get over the border. Take a $5 taxi from the border to their office. So easy! This was the second time I visit T.J. Mexico for dental work. I'm over 50 years old and have had a few dentists in my life time. I have honestly say Smile Builder's is the BEST I've ever had!! The staff was so nice and perfessional. The cleanest dentist office I ever seen. Their work ares were so spacious with up to date equipment. Very state of the art. I had a full set of x-rays done and teeth cleaning. Came back the following week and had a wisdom tooth extracted. No problems whatsoever. In and out. The pricing is excellent!! If you don't have dental insurance, do yourself a favor and check them out!! Their office is located on Blvd Revelation, downtown T.J. that's a main street for tourists. The area was very safe. Their were police on evey other block. So walking, some on bikes, in trucks or quads. I felt safer there than my own city. Do yourself a huge favor and check them out. You won't be sorry. I have a broken big tooth, and a multi-year wisdom tooth is buried in the gums. Today I came into smile builders. The dentist use a very short time to remove both two teeth then suture. I am a person who is sensitive to pain, but the whole process I had not felt any thing, the doctor is so...o good !! I would recommend to my friend, it definitely worth my two hours driving here. I'm from Wisconsin and traveled to San Diego. Walked across the border to Tijuana and a short Uber ride to Smilebuilders office (ride arranged for by Smilebuilders). Office is very up scale, new equipment, friendly staff, very clean, and doctors are professional. I had total reconstruction done on my mouth. All teeth extracted, 5 implants on top, and 5 implants on bottom. This was their recommendation based on my desire to do All-on-4 or All-on-6. Total of 4 office visits required for this. CT scan of your jaw (arranged by Smilebuilders) and consultation to determine what your mouth can handle. Next visit sedated so I didn't feel a thing, surgery to extract teeth, place implants, dissolving stitches, and fitted with dentures. I'm at this stage... waiting for 3 months later for jaw bone to attach to implants. Then they expose the implants and place "healing abutments" on the implants. Check their hearing, strength, and take molds for the bridges. 1 month later you come in again for your new teeth. The bridge was made and it may take a couple visits to get the best and most comfortable fit. And your done. Maintance and cleaning can by done by dental implant office back home. the staff was super helpful, sweet and the doctor was awesome. he walked me through every step of the way and has a lot of patience and takes his time. excellent bed side manner. all of the staff also speaks English. prices seemed to be reasonable. they don't take insurance but they gave me a form I could give to my insurance to try to get some refund. my only complaint is that it took a very long time , I believe because they were running behind that day. just bear that in mind in case you are tight on time. great experience and I recommend this dentist. read more

Excellent service and experience overall! From the moment I called to make the appointment I was impressed. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist willing to work with my schedule and answer all my questions. She was never rude or annoyed at all. Once we arrived, I was very impressed by the cleanliness and level of attention to patient. Worth noting due to present times is that Smile Builders has Covid protocols in place to ensure patient and staff safety. They have a nice waiting area too. The dentists that performed my root canal/crown work were superb! It was done by Dr. Javier Dominguez and Dr. Andres Rico Chan. After about 2 weeks from the root canal/crown work, I called to make the appointment to get started on the veneers. They then transferred me under the care of Dr. Samuel Garcia. The whole veneers process was fairly easy. On my first appointment with Dr. Samuel Garcia he took a look at my case, discussed options, and answered my questions. Upon confirmation that I wanted to move forward with veneers, he then proceeded to start the whole process and sent me off with temps home for one week. On my second appointment with Dr. Samuel he placed my permanent veneers on. I was blown away at how my smile was transformed! He scheduled me for a final third appointment to fully discharge me and ensure everything was good after testing my new smile. Thank you very much Dr. Samuel, truly happy with my new smile! When I called I was greeted by a warm and professional receptionist who scheduled the appointment for me, gave me directions and where to park because I was coming from Venice California and once I got across the border I called them and they were able to send an Uber right away to pick me up and bring me immediately to the establishment. Once I was in there I was greeted by a professional staff and a Covid regulated clean establishment. I had the best care with the Dr. Castellanos and his assistant that treated me. I had two teeth pulled, a couple fillings a deep cleaning and I have to say it was very cost-effective for me and I will definitely be going back in the future and send my friends and family there. I've never written a review about a dentist but I must tell everybody about Smile Builders in Mexico. 2 days ago I lost a tooth, half broke off. The sharp tooth edge was caused pain in my lip. My dentist said their first appointment was in 3 weeks . I could not wait so I began "googling" 1- day crowns .Since opening my own business I am unable to take much time off from work so I've been using 'international dentist' in Mexico & Hungary because they offer all their specialist (endodontist, cosmetic, surgeon, lab, etc) from the same location on the same day at 1/2 the U.S.A. cost. Smile Builders offered an appointment the next day for root canal & crown. I arrived at my appointment 3 hours late, their staff was very kind & rescheduled my appointments for the next morning. They had a taxi pick me up from the Marriott where I stayed. The endodontist who performed my root canal used a microscope (similar to the Scopes we use in surgery when performing laparoscopies) .he was very gentle & frequently asked if I had any pain or discomfort.shortly thereafter the cosmetic dentist prepped and applied a new tooth. Smile Builders did a great job in less than 4 hours. Everyone office speaks English fluently is very kind and helpful. Smile Builders will be my forever dental office at least until the covid mandates are over & my daughter who is a dentist, can take over my dental care ! read more

I was looking for emergency dental work in Yelp and found surprising little in the way of helpful information. I had called my dentist in the U.S. and they weren't open on Saturdays - they gave me a referral. Talking to the girl Friday at this referral, she informed me that it would be enough money to choke a mule. Yay :( They said they would need to bump a non-emergency to fit me in and that would cost enough cashola to make my divorce lawyer blush. So I reached out to a few friends asking for recommendations. One of them asked me if I would be willing to head south to Mexico. I was ready to drive to Canada with the pain I was in, so Mexico seemed like no big deal. My dentist was Dr. Javier Dominguez. He was smart, gentle, kind, and his communication was spot on. He diagnosed the issue, gave me 3 options for treatment, allowing me to make a decision that was going to help and also allowed me to decide if I wanted to go for broke or be more conservative. I went with option 2 which is what I would have done with my dentist. Pricing-wise, I would venture a guess that I saved about $800-$1,000 by choosing to leverage my high school Spanish and drive/Uber/Walk to the TJ dentist. I parked in the lot in San Ysidro, walked over, got an Uber to meet me so I popped right in the car and was at the dentist in 12 minutes for $3. I don't like any dentist. I had one jam laughing gas on my mug when I was a kid, full blast. When he told me to open my eyes, I heard, "OPEN YOUR EYES, eyes, eyes, eyes..." I freaked out and tried to get it off my face but he was pushing it on. I'm sure the dentist is retired now and one of his favorite stories is when a 10-year-old kid punched him in the nose twice and put him in an armbar from the chair. Ever since, well, you can say that I have legitimate reasons, but the reality is, I don't like dentist's offices one bit. But I have to say, Javier and their team at Smile Builders was trefrigginmendous (pg version). Clean, professional and almost pain-free. Honestly, they were better than my dentist! If you are considering going but are worried about the border, don't. Use Uber vs. the taxi's though and make sure your phone coverage is all set so you can Uber when you get there. I am not in Mexico often but I felt safe getting there, being there, and getting back. In summary, 5 stars earned and my business. Javier - you are the man!!! read more

I have been shopping for a TJ dentist for a few months. My San Diego dentist recommended an onlay and quoted me $1000. I choose to visit Smile Builders because they have the milling machine in house and would only require a single visit. After getting a consultation today with Dr. Carlos Castellanos, he recommended a composite filling instead (could have gone either way) and saved me a further $100 from my initial email quote of $360. I just got home and am very pleased with the work. Great experience with Smile Builders overall, very clean and modern office. Parking was easy in the parkade next door ($4) and they offered a border medical fast pass ($8) which is a must have. Dr. Castellanos was very professional and did not upsell me on anything (common with some TJ dentists). I need an onlay on another tooth that was less urgent than this one. and will return to Smile Builders for that procedure. read more

Do not get extractions from Smile Builders. They are very pleasant people and i would trust them for a simple cleaning but i went in for an extraction and have had complications since. My inner cheek was cut during the procedure and i was not informed. I discovered the cut days later and discovered that this was the cause of my pain and trouble healing. The cut has since turned into a blister and is infected. I have reached out to Smile Builders about this and i haven't heard anything back. read more

I have had upper and lower dentures for 3 years. They were made then the teeth were extracted. I have lived with pain for the same amount of time. Recently I made the decision to visit Smile Builders. I must say it was a great decision. The first visit I had planned on getting just the lowers made. But after watching Dr. Paris's workmanship I decided to have new uppers as well. I visited a couple of more times to have some minor adjustments made and I now have zero pain. If they indeed removed all the dead pulp, I read there are other causes for the gum infection returning. I may decide to go with a procedure where an endodonist accesses the tip of the root thru the gums, cuts off the root tip and fills it like a cavity. If that doesn't work, then the tooth would most likely need extracting. read more

I would highly recommend this dentist office! I'm from Northern California and make the drive to Tijuana to get my teeth done here . Me and my boyfriend got our braces done here ! The girls in the front are very sweet ! I normally communicate with Adrian. He even gave me his personal number which helps out a lot since we have broken brackets or have had questions and I can just shoot him a text if it's after hours ! They all speak English which is a plus! The office is so clean !! Honestly better than some I've been at than here in the states .
