    Let's Get Smashed!!
    Bill M.

Pretty Solid Smash Burger although I still can't believe I like a place where they squeeze all the juicy goodness right outta their patties but for some strange reason I just do. It's probably all the amazing accompaniments that they serve along side, plus not to mention some seriously delicious and perfectly prepared thin and crispy Fries. Let's face it, it's almost worth coming here just for the Fries alone. But hey since I stopped in I might as well grab a Smash Bacon Cheese Burger Deluxe while I'm at it.    In my humble but still hungry opinion I like this place but definitely would prefer a Big Juicy Flame Broiled Burger instead so Four Stars is the best they're ever gonna get outta this Guy, Lol!! Come And Get Your Smooshed Munch On!!

The shop is located in a strip mall with the Target and Michaels. Clean, and two unisex bathrooms are a nice touch. I ordered ahead of time on the website and the service had it ready right away when I wanted to pick it up. Quick and easy from that perspective. The truffle mushroom Swiss Burger was excellent still, plenty of truffle flavor. However they seem to have changed the fries when I ordered smash fries which still had the excellent salt and truffle flavor, but now they're more regular fries instead of being the thin shoe string and that made them a lot harder to eat as the inside no longer had much flavor. That's disappointing, I hope that is an exception and not the new way of doing fries.

I never used to like sweet potato fries until a recent encounter and have been craving them A LOT. Not a lot of places make sweet potato fries, and when they do, they don't always taste good. But Smashburger makes AMAZING sweet potato fires! I usually order 2 orders of them and they're gone within minutes. Don't get me wrong though, their smash fries are amazing too with the unique seasoning blend they use but I'm just so happy that there's a place in the area that serves delicious sweet potato fries at a convenient location and affordable price! Also as an edit to my last review, the burgers don't taste as salty as I had mentioned and they have also recently switched out of using plastic container packaging for their burgers. They now put them in the typical wax paper type wrapping.

It's SmashBurger: a step up from five guys, and a few steps down from Zinburger. I always get the veggie frites, which I pretend justifies my milkshake, even though we all know it doesn't! The staff here was typical. Young men that looked to be 19 or 20 years old, fumbling around in the back, and serving food very slowly, in spite of the fact that we were the only customers in the place. Food was pretty good. I visited on New Year's Day, so, remember everyone, I did eat my veggies!!

Not too many folks here on Christmas Eve.

The garlic parm sauce on the wings were a bit lacking and the amount of meat on the cheese steak was only half enough to really fill that long roll. And the most irksome thing was the 2,23 % "technology fee". No offense but WTH is that?????? If it was to use the credit card, it wasn't explained at all. We were discussing burgers yesterday and Habit came up. I'd never eaten at one. He wanted one. Perfect. Pulls in at 8:45, takes a few minutes to figure out the ordering kiosk. I will therefore note this is an issue to anticipate. The order itself didn't seem to take too long. As for what came home with my friend: * Intrigued by the dragonfruit limeade. Would be something to keep in mind if I find myself at Habit again. * I enjoyed my burger. The patty was the weakest part, very plain and underwhelming. But the portabello mushroom and associated toppings? Mwah. That all made the sandwich. But the best burger places know how to make the meat score points. * My friend got the tempura green beans. Apparently those were just OK, maybe not tempuraed enough. I noticed when looking at the sides, every dipping sauce costs money besides ketchup packets (m'eh) and none of them really looked that interesting to me. So the upsides? Good value, tasty mushrooms. The downsides? Limited selections, uninspiring burger meat. I'll call it a strong 3 stars and if I do end up here (or another Habit) I will reconsider.

I just started with one of the basic 1/3 pound burgers and topped it up with tons of pickles and liquid cheese that I just love and miss so much. I remember it being an all-white plain fast food place, similar to the vibe of Five Guys. Well, this one's different, and maybe that's why it's one of the few Fudds still around. Much classier inside, wood paneled and amber lit. There's a back room for large parties or extra seating, or a cozy up-front section with comfy benches. Warning: the benches are low. Second warning: Fudds is still a place where you enter, walk up and order, and wait for your food. No table service. Some things don't change. Like the value. I ordered an ultimate bacon grilled cheese burger. Subbed elk and the price barely went up for that dark, meaty flavour. Ordered rare, they advised that they can't go below medium rare. Understood, and I went to wait. And wait. I could tell they make things fresh to order, and with a large 6-person order that came out just before mine, I'm sure that was the bulk of the wait. Burger arrived, I threw my veggies on for nutrition, some onion petal sauce for the fries (yup, just what you'd want to dip your onion rings into), and for good measure added cheese sauce to the four cheeses on the burger. Why not. Verdict: What a glorious burger Fudds makes. Even though they missed my request for a bun instead of the default Texas Toast - again, maybe thrown off by the large order before me - still delicious from beginning to end. The meat was indeed nice and dark pink inside, something most burgers fail to achieve. Deep rich elk taste throughout validated my upgrade. The fries are also top-notch - thick cut, seasoned well, and most importantly, unlimited! I went back for thirds, tried some different sauces each time, discovered the Cholula on the third attempt and realized I should have been slathering my food in that the whole time. But, with that, this was an incredibly long-overdue return, and I promise it won't be twenty-*mumble* something years before the next. I am so glad that not only has Fudds survived, but they've saved a location most convenient to me.

We got two Double Shack Burgers, cheese fries, and onion rings, all delivered for a total of a bit over $60 (expensive!). Everything arrived cold and the burgers came disheveled. Our order of onion rings was quite expensive and we only got 7, very small rings. This was not enough for me and my husband to share as we had planned. The fries arrived soggy, but the cheese sauce was tasty at least. The burgers similarly seemed to have corners cut. The lettuce and tomato barely covered half the burger, and the burger was falling apart when it arrived. Since it was already falling apart, we decided to disassemble it and re-heat it, as it was cold. There was also no option to add pickles, which I would have appreciated. Overall we were able to revive everything in the airfryer, but I was still surprised by how Shake Shack seemed to skimp on the entire meal. Really disappointing!

Because I got a fat sandwich, not a burger. But what a great menu variety to choose frome! It's the tastiest fat sandwich I ever had. It actually looked skinny when it showed up on the tray, but it turned out to be much deeper bread to compensate. Very high quality ingredients and seasoning compared to the infamous food trucks. My friend and I agreed that the fries are excellent, nice and crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. However, I regret to inform you that Cheese Fries are really Cheez Fries, without actual cheese on them. (I bet I could order that... for an additional fee. The 50 cent upcharge looked too good to be true.) So now, the unfortunate reasons the 4 stars has dropped to a 3. First, I agree with what many others have said here - this is the wrong environment for Denville. You're walking into an industrial setting. The raised roof reveals some rough edges to the top of the bathroom and above the kitchen, both of which feature various objects stored on those tops. Really poor design unless you're a test kitchen. And design alone wouldn't be enough to deduct a star, except the service was a bit of an issue. There were only two staff present, and they were both cooks, which means one of them had to stop cooking every time a customer had a request. Service was still fairly quick and friendly, but I really can't think of another time I have experienced something like this. One star will be given back with either of the above reductions fixed. If all is fixed... I will come back, order an actual burger with actual (upcharged) cheese on my fries, and reconsider.
