We never go in and eat here, we usually just get it to go. The food is always good and not too expensive for my crew of 5. Their burgers, chicken sandwiches and big dogs are very good and the fries are great as well. All of them, you can choose from sweet potato waffle fries, fries and tater tots. I headed from Brooklyn to queens ,craving those extra flaming hot chickens tenders. As I cross the Kosciusko bridge I got more and more excited to indulge my taste buds into a fiery treat. When I finally arrived I was greeted by a young man with an attitude as stale as an old piece of bread. I ordered my double burger, and with excitement I ordered my 5 piece flaming extra hot tenders. The cashiers response was "no hot tenders. What else?" . I was shocked and my heart sank, I stuttered and said "I'll take regular tenders with buffalo sauce then". His response was "no buffalo sauce." At this point I was ready to walk out when I said "fine I will take fiery tator tots". This is when the grinch of the smashburgers said "nothing hot today!", and gave me a nasty look. I am very upset I made the trip here and didn't get the service I expected. Best food ever the stuff I had was the most crispy thing I have ever tried. The burgers were so big and they gave me so many fries. There were towels ketchup, and mustard on the table, which I really like. The employees were really kind. They were focused and they helped me with a lot. An employee grabbed my stuff after I left, which I thought was really nice. I frequent this location a fair amount. The food is usually outstanding. I rarely have had issues with the food quality. That said, from time to time there are service issues. Despite the fact that it can take nearly five minutes for anyone on the line to notice you or even knowledge that you are waiting at the register. Look, I get it, if you only have three workers in the store and two of them are on the grill, it's understandable that things will take a bit longer. That's actually not the issue or concern. It's the attitude that some workers have when you call them out on their poor service. They never apologize or give you any comforting words. Today was an outrageous situation. No one was ahead of me, yet zero contact was established. After about 3 or 4 minute, I shouted out, if there was anyone other than the three on the floor available to take my order. No one responded. Not only was the woman, (I believe her name was Adnan,) that finally took my other unempathetic, she could care less about my dissatisfaction. She asked me what I would like, and I replied, "I would like some service." At that moment, she had the opportunity to apologize or say some reassuring or encouraging words that everything will be better from this point forward. She did none of that, she doubled down and started mocking me by calling me "my love." Zero people skills. Zero customer service mindset with no understanding on how to make the customer comfortable, especially when the establishment screwed up. Zero professionalism was had in this encounter. There is no reason why she should have had this type of tone with me. It doesn't matter how bad her day is going, she needs to conform in a professional behavior to the standards of your corporate business model. I got a sneaking suspicion she was a manager. All the other managers are awesome. As a matter of fact, I get along with them smashingly (no pun intended) well. We talk about all sorts of stuff while I wait for my order. Today, Smashburger's management mindset and dynamic was off-putting. Spending nearly $30.00 USD and walking away feeling disliked made me feel like not wanting to get involved with this location any longer. It was disconcerting and quite disturbing to me when she didn't give a freak when I said I was going to post my review on all the popular online review platforms. Is this who you want representing your corporation? Her approach to customer service and taking blame for the mistakes that happen in your store is terribly unpleasant and unappealing. All that said, one redeeming factor in all this was the lovely young lady behind the grill that noticed what went down. Since Adnan didn't dare bring me my dine-in order, she brought me my order. She was kind, helpful, caring which is exactly what it should have been like from the start. The main issue wasn't the fact that there was a delay, it was how I was treated as a customer. I mean, I get it, Adnan wanted a "participation award," and I didn't have one to give as a paying customer. I'm not saying I will never come back to this location, but I will place this establishment on a pause for the time being. Word of advice to the store owners: Hire managers that have people skills especially when the store is screwing up. An apology and a few kind words can go a long way. Showing ZERO empathy or concern or a care in the world after an issue has occurred is what will eventually take down your Maspeth (#1730) store. read more

I was so happy to see this bear a Home Depot that was easier for me to access from home than expected. Today in a time between lunch and dinner with a need for a beverage, I opted to get a milkshake. The location is a little small but staff was friendly and the menu still looks good. I'd definitely take a bus ride to go here as long as that bus shows up more regularly than it did today. First time visiting this location. I was raving to my friends about how smash burger "smashes" the competition and tastes better than shake shack. Oh... how true and wrong that was. I ordered the truffle mushroom smash burger and chicken burger and added the "scorchin hot" wings. The truffle burger and chicken burger was great!.... Except the scorchin wings were horribly bland. We expressed our concern to one of the workers there and asked if its actually supposed to be spicier and they said its a 7/10 in terms of hotness for them. The older lady was GREAT and refired another one for us. However it missed the mark... In terms of flavor and spicy, it was an easy 2/10. The chicken itself was crunchy and moist. The reason for my 2 stars? Albeit this being such a new store, management can definitely work on customer service and situational awareness. There was a couple who ordered before us, and though the food did take a little longer than expected to come out, our food came to our table first before theirs. We had nearly finished our whole meal before the expeditor as their hot pass realized that they did not receive their food. The couple's english was not great and I had made it known to the older lady who helped us with our underwhelming chicken who then proceeded back to the kitchen to find out where their order is. Meanwhile, the manager and a bunch of crew members were sitting towards the bathroom area(probably on lunch) were tearing up a storm laughing and joking around eating food. Had the manager was made more aware of the surroundings, I feel this overall experience would have been better for that couple and us. Not once did the manager ask dining guests if everything was okay. Granted this is fast food, but with the way Chic-Fil-A, Pokeworks, Sweetgreens,Shake shack, Jersey mikes and other premium brands run their service, Smash burger should definitely take a note or two! read more

I'm a bit of a fan of a good cheese burger. This place seemed to be a bit delayed in opening but it was well worth the wait. My girlfriend was OBSESSED with having my try Smash Burger because I never had before. I got what I think is called a double classic smash and I'm not exaggerating when I say that it was, hands down, the most delicious burger I have had in my entire life. It almost reminded me of a Jackson Hole diner burger in terms of the wonderfully moist and buttery flavor. The contents of the burger stayed on the bun pretty well too! I also got the smash fries (tasty seasoned shoe string fries) and whatever they call their crispy onions. Both were very tasty. The counter girls were nice and welcoming. There was clearly some sort of trainer/manager overseeing the cooks who looked to be coaching them along in a nice and attentive way. I will be back. Today, starving with no food all day, at 6:40pm my daughter and I went to the new Maspeth location on a quiet and unbusy Sunday. One person a head of us. An Uber driver was waiting and one customer was waiting for their order. Nobody came to take our order, so we just stood and waited. Then the manager comes out, a lady; and barks at us that HER KITCHEN is backed up and she is not taking no more orders for 15 minutes and walked away. We were stunned. No people skills. No Customer Service. No Professionalism. Shocked, the 3 of us left. I am 60 years old and never in my life has any establishment that I went to acted in this manner, had this type of tone and had such an excuse to not take any further orders for 15 minutes. Is this how Smash Burger's Management acts. What a great way to show your young team how to deal with paying customers. It was totally unacceptable and I will not patronize this establishment again. Get a new manager because she is for the STREETS, not a restaurant, not dealing with people and not being in charge of anyone because she lacks everything! Any customers who came after use, probably got ignored or worst. Cannot stay in business with someone in charge like that. As a vegetarian the employee notified me of recent changes and additions to the menu which was very helpful. Brought our food right to the table, and took our dish when we were done. My first time at a Smashburger so I cannot say whether this is a general experience. I was excited to try their Mac and cheese burger. My order was for a single patty Mac & cheese burger with sweet potato fries; the sweet potato fries were the only thing I can say tasted great. The burger was so salty that I could only eat half of it and not really able to get much Mac & cheese flavor. It seems all that salt emanated from the seasoning on the burger patty; I can only imagine how inedible the sandwich would have been if I opted for the double patty burger. I will try another location and see if it is simply the way they salt their burgers or just a fluke with the particular location I went to. read more

Maspeth doesn't have many burger restaurants in the neighborhood except for McDonald's, not my cup of tea. The Smashburger in Maspeth is very nice and clean, the staff is very friendly and the restaurant is run by Carlos and in my opinion, he takes great care of the restaurant and staff. I've probably been to the Maspeth location around a dozen times already and each time it gets better and better. When a new restaurant opens up, you usually got to give them a couple of weeks to get everything together to run smoothly. The only complaint I got is the person cooking the food is salt happy and I wish the cook will lighten up on the salt. I guess I got to tell them when I order to not overload the sandwich with salt. I highly recommend Smashburger and looking at how busy they are these days other people are happy too! read more

I stopped in here with my wife for a quick snack (we weren't too hungry) we ordered 2 shakes and 1 order of smash fries. For starters even though it wasn't busy they were understaffed and the cashier who was doing the register and running the food seemed like she could care less about working. After about 10mins she dropped our fries which were decent in quality but extremely cold. She didnt drop our shakes so we assumed she would go back to get them. 10 mins later we see her behind the counter making our shakes.....another 10 mins go by and she's still not done making them! We finally get up after a couple mins and she hands them to us. In terms of customer service, it's non existent. multiple cooks behind the line and the cashier who was preparing to go orders saw 2 people walk up to the register and didn't even acknowledge them. Very slow service and no care for the kitchen staff, burger was burned and prices of the dirty cook top from previous orders stuck to the burger. Front of house staff was disorganized and uncaring. I finally decided I would stop in here and check out Smashburger. I've seen this place in a number of different cities in New York. I ordered a single burger for my friend and I ordered french fries for myself. I was totally disappointed. Someone had told me that the french fries taste like cardboard and of course just like others I'm the type of person who has to try it for myself. I did. To add insult I had to wait 15 minutes in order to get my order. I don't understand if this is a new Smashburger inside the mini-mall or Maurice Avenue here in Maspeth Queens. They had approximately four individuals working two in the cooking area one packing and one as a cashier. Once the cashier had no customers to attend to and she saw how things were beginning to get a little behind she came and assisted the person packing the food and as a result, it helped to move things along a little faster. I think because I had to wait as long as I did my French fries were cold and yes I did begin eating them immediately once I got out so I cannot blame myself for them being cold they were served cold. My friend had his burger and he said it was very gummy in texture. He was not happy with the flavor so he dressed it up with a whole lot of mustard and ketchup. It's a shame that I couldn't write a great review on a place that I have been passing for more than 2 years and now finally I decided to stop and try them out and was disappointed by the customer service as well as the food. Yes, it was only french fries I had however french fries are an American dish by themselves. I did not like the condition of the bathroom it was untidy and smelled of urine. A bathroom should be checked on regularly and because it was so early in the morning one would think that this should not be the situation. So yeah I'm totally turned off maybe today just wasn't a good day for Smashburger.
