When finished, she also made the comment that she deliberately didn't give me the color I wanted because she was afraid it would be too vibrant... so she made a safer decision. Ummm WHAT.... She also had told me stories of similar situations with other clients and her not wanting to make anyone angry.... I left in tears and very disappointed. Would not recommend.

I put my complete trust in this person. I prefer not to name the stylist but this is just another over priced salon and we all know there's one on every corner around here. They will up-sell you at every turn! You are required to pay for a package as apposed to individual services. At least at the time I was there. I've lived in the LKN area for 40 years and I'm just not impressed with the "package thing". It's ridiculously overpriced and too restricting.

I showed her a picture and said I wanted to go darker with subtle highlights around my face. When it was done it was BLONDER. I immediately started saying I didn't think it looked right and it had too much of a reddish tone somehow and wasn't dark enough and she straight up just told me it looked exactly how it was supposed to and I needed to see it in different lighting. But I was telling her it didn't look right and she didn't careI felt so uncomfortable and it was so late I knew she was just rushing me out. She kept saying "don't you love it?!" Over and over and I felt so uncomfortable I just said yes and left. I tried really hard over the last few days to get used to it and like it but it's the exact opposite of what I wanted and I'm beside myself that I spent $300 for my hair to look horrible. Stylists: your clients are literally always right. Hate to break it to you but it's THEIR body. If they don't like it, no matter what the excuse, fix it. Don't argue with them. It's belittling and mean. Now I'm embarrassed to try to go back because she made me feel so bad. But felt like making sure everyone else knew my experience. UPDATE: Emily was AMAZING. She fixed my hair so perfectly and couldn't have been any nicer. I am blown away by today's experience at this salon. Management and my stylist were so kind to help fix this issue and I'm so happy with how it turned out. THANK YOU! I will definitely be going back to Emily.

Hey, brides! If you want a rat's nest for your special day, go to Modern Salon & Spa!…read more Multiple employees acknowledged that my bridal updo was poor quality and visibly not up to a professional standard, and the team removed it on site. The salon refused a refund but offered to have a more "experienced" stylist redo it the following week. I lost half a day and no longer have confidence in the salon's ability to provide services for my wedding party. After I asked to speak with someone above the salon manager, my calls were screened, went unanswered, or I was left on hold for extended periods. When I called from a different number, however, my calls were answered quickly. I truly did not want to leave a negative review. Making this right would have been incredibly simple with a refund for a bridal trial that their own team acknowledged was not acceptable work.

On December 18, 2014 I went to Laura Glidden's hair salon for a full foil highlight and hair cut…read more This was my third time going to her salon. It was my second time getting my hair highlighted by her. She used foils to highlight and to add low lights to my hair. Usually the product is left on for approximately 30 minutes but she left it on for close to an hour if not longer. I did not look at the exact time but I did check a text message I sent to a friend while waiting for my hair to process to see what the approximate time was. As a result of Laura leaving the product on my hair for at least DOUBLE the amount of time she over processed my hair. She basically fried my hair!!! After she shampooed my hair I immediately noticed that my front bang area was super light. It was almost white. Like a platinum blond which I have never been a platinum blond. I am a 42 year old female that has been getting her hair highlighted every couple of months for over 20 years. I have never, ever had an experience like this before. I had to text Laura, since that is the main way that she likes to correspond with clients, the next day to let her know that my bangs were so light that they need to be fixed. This was my first time ever having to do this. I went back to the salon the next day where she added in a few low lights to cover up the white. As a result of this, my bangs were left looking streaky. Wide sections of low light coloring. Basically it looked like a skunk. I wash my hair every couple of days and when I went to wash it I immediately noticed that my hair felt like straw after it got wet. I could barely run my fingers through my hair to shampoo it. Actually I could not get my fingers to go all the way through it because it was so rough. That is when I discovered that she over processed my hair causing damage to it. I had to go to a salon and purchase expensive hair conditioners to try every effort to restore my hair. This has been one of the most upsetting things to ever happen to me. Most women can probably relate to this, but your hair is an important part of yourself and your looks. Too have mine damaged and ruined like this is so upsetting. So another week goes by with more treatments and shampooing to try to restore my hair. Still damaged. Every time I look in the mirror and see my hair I cannot stop thinking about Laura and what she did. I finally decided that I was going to have to talk with her about it which was very difficult for me to do. I liked her as a person and wanted to be able to use her as a stylist but just could not do that based on my experience and the damage caused to my hair. I went by Laura's salon on Saturday January 17 since she usually works on that day. Her salon was closed so I called and left her a voicemail. She finally returned my call on Tuesday, January 20. I explained to her my concern about my hair and they damage that was caused to it from the color being left on too long. I mentioned that I understand that she was working another client in after me but that she should have checked on the processing of my hair and did not. She then says that that's how she feeds her family. That she double books appointments. Okay, come on. I understand that hair stylists double book appointments but most of them either have assistants to help or they will check on the client that is processing to see how it is coming along. I asked Laura if she uses a timer because I saw one on her counter but never heard it go off. She said that if I was sitting there freaking out about my hair then why didn't I say something to her about it. Really? That's what you are going to tell a client? It was her job as a professional to check on my hair. Not me. It's also not the client's responsibility to have to alert the stylist on how to do their job. Hence, I have learned an invaluable lesson. I will always l keep track of the time a product has been on my hair to avoid this ever happening again. I told Laura, that I went back to my original stylist for a hair cut and that she could feel the damage to my hair when she washed it. I told Laura that she encouraged me to contact her to let her know for training purposes that she left the product on my hair too long. Laura apologized and apologized that this happened. She went on so much that it never felt sincere. I know she did not want to be bothered with my hair troubles that she caused. She said that I do not know what to do other than to tell you I'm sorry. I told her that there is nothing that she can do or say to change how I feel about this happening. I mean, I have permanently damaged hair until is grows out (and I have long hair). I told Laura that I do not feel that I should have to pay for the highlight portion since she damaged my hair. She will not refund my money back.

I asked for a…read morebalayage with caramel highlights and instead received a choppy, brassy, untoned result that looked nothing like what was requested. This work was done by Madelynn. While we were extremely disappointed with both the color outcome and the obvious lack of blending and transition throughout the hair, what ultimately prompted me to leave this review was her response when concerns were raised. Rather than acknowledging the issues, she became defensive when dissatisfaction with the service was expressed. When a refund was requested due to the poor results, there was significant resistance before she eventually agreed to refund less than half of the amount paid. $150 for this inexperienced "balayage" service is a scam. Mistakes can happen, but professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to make things right matter just as much as the service itself. Unfortunately, this experience fell short in all of those areas.
