The playlist was jumping, all the hits were in rotation! Faatimah was my nail tech and she was amazing. She asked questions and engaged in conversation (all things that were super important to me). She also checked in throughout the service to make sure I was happy with the work she was doing. I spent about $115 on a duck shaped full set with gel polish and French tips. A client they had before me spent $70 on a gel pedicure, just to put the pricing into perspective for you. It is a bit more than what you might pay at a traditional salon but I feel like my experience made the difference in cost worth it. It is also important for me to support businesses where the people look like me so it felt like a small price to pay for that community. I will definitely be returning.

PART 1 --I HAVE TO SAY THIS!!!…read more I FEEL LIKE I DID MY DUE DILIGENCE!!!!! WE'VE GOT TO DO BETTER! I'M SAD & DISAPPOINTED! In the wake of the A**** nail boycott, I went to Applause Nail Salon in Northlake Mall and left so disappointed!!!!! I really-really wanted to support BO Salons but this particular experience will not allow me to go back to this one!!!! As I always do, I looked at the reviews and was truly impressed and got really excited, however, I did not initially realize that those great reviews and stars were based on the hair services and not the NOT nail services. My daughter, granddaughter and I went there a week ago after trying to call for two days to inquire about their services...While there, we decided to make appointments for pedicures and full sets (a major task in itself). Prior to going, my intuition told me to call and confirm and boy was I glad I did! When the manager answered the phone, I was told that she could NOT find my name and after further research, she came back to the phone to inform me that a nail tech name Nicole was scheduled to do them but she was not going to be able to do my appointment and it had been canceled. I was never notified -it just so happened that I was able to take my granddaughter's spot for 4pm because she had to work. I arrived right at 4:02 pm after spending 10-15 mins on the phone trying to get this sorted out! I waited for only about 5-10 minutes before I was called back for my basic pedicure no gel. ($55, after seeing $40 on the price list) BTW, they "tried" to charge me $70 for gel when I had already told them regular polish twice, which I got) Anyway, when I inquired about the difference, I was told that the basic price went up. The "2 hour" "basic" pedicure was "good". I moved to the seat to have my "basic" full set done, which took another 2 hours..Aside from the slightly bumpy and warped nail job (Poor Workmanship), I went to pay only to be told that my nails cost an additional $10 or $15 for "longer length" which were not the case at all. They were not long at all. I went ahead & paid it PLUS A 10% tip (courtesy) but I knew I would not be returning! So basically, I paid $95 for set of nails with Gel Polish and the workmanship was horrible! Lumpy and very rough around the edges with polish over my cuticles and skin. This same set elsewhere at (A****) salons are only $55. I am so disappointed with the workmanship. I can see the "hair salon" thriving because we have successfully mastered this industry . It came from years of doing hair! But certainly not the Nail Salon. I honestly don't mind paying higher prices for great service (Never have) however, in this case I feel that I was charged prices well above the services I received. Basically, "The quality of work should match the cost! Unlike services from previous (A*****) salons, I did not get what I Paid for! (Please don't push us back. If you know what I mean!) For years , I've received far better quality of work for far less than I paid here and in 1/3 of the time. SEE PART 2 on Google Reviews because of the limit to how much I can post here.

A simple rod set was my request and though she didn't have the traditional rods the long cushion rollers worked just as good and this chic was very fast, I swear she rolled my hair in 20 minutes or less...quite impressive as I have experienced much longer roll time for this particular style. I expect very few things when dealing with salons especially if I am a first time client........ things that I consider no brainer's and they are....some line of questioning about my hair(history, etc.), a general idea that healthy hair is your priority, thorough shampooing of my hair, and the benefit of being able to explain how I like my hair.......simple. I realize that all stylist are clearly not created equal but some things in my opinion are just the standard.
