We initially thought we'd foster her for adoption due to her dog aggression issues. After working with Travis, we decided togive Rosie a forever home ourselves. We brought Travis in to privately train her so she didn't have to deal with the stress of a group setting and because we wanted a tailored training program. With Lone Star Dog Training, we received an excellent job. Travis educated us about how training is important and what results he felt we could see. Over the course of 4 months, Rosie went from being aggressive toward our other dogs to feeling safe and comfortable with them. She's even adopted our 12 year old border terrier as her sister. Rosie has progressed from a frightened stray who did not wag her tail or understand how to take affection, to bounding and leaping with joy when she sees her people. She now seeks out our affections and looks forward to spending time with us. If not for Lone Star Dog Training, we would not have decided to keep her. It showed us what a wonderful, fun and loving dog Rosie is. Thank you, Travis , for your dedication and patience with us.

I wanted to get a quote for 10 days of daycare. Initially the quote was for over $600.00. WHAT?!…read more I left then returned, thinking there had to be some misunderstanding. I thought the marquee advertised $26/day? I reviewed the Price pamphlet which said I could buy an 8 day pass for $43/day or $344.00 or $38/day for 8 days or $304.00 per month (2 month minimum). No 10 day deals, but there are 12 day deals that save a whopping $2/day!! I've never been more confused by price options! For goodness sakes! So how does the Paranoid Owner respond? May 10, 2025 "Scott, good try it's sad when a struggling competitor hires you trying to hit our Yelp rankings. I have reported this as Yelp is cracking down on twisted business practices like this. You intentionally twisted the $600 unlimited package which is $22-$26/day (we show the high end $26 on our marquee) and conveniently left that cost off your comparison comments. Anyone with a brain can see daycare is not $600 for 10 days. Our pricing is online and anyone can see 8-12 days of daycare is between $36 and $43/day. Good try." If I wanted to "Hit Yelp Ratings," anyone with half a brain would realize I would have given ONE star for the twisted advertising that omits the fact customers must pay $600.00 for an "Unlimited Package" to receive a $26.00/day deal. Nice try.

I text Michael, sometimes daily, all my questions and concerns regarding the training, and I've never been left without an answer! He'll also provide a ton of materials (videos, books, articles) you need to familiarize yourself with to set you up for success. Me and my dogs are working on solving the fence fighting issue, and so far one of them is actually responsive to my efforts. When I reached out to Michael I didn't think that much can be done, but now I see a light at the end of a very, very long tunnel :). All our sessions have been online so far, as few days before our first scheduled meeting the stay at home order was placed. Online conference worked just as well for us, and we didn't have to delay the training any longer. A recent addition- online "support group" where his customers can share ideas and chat is a great idea too! Overall, I couldn't be happier with the decision to work with Michael.

Playtime was not fun for us because he would get too worked up and end up with what I called a "zoomy meltdown", which involved a lot of jumping and nipping. Michael taught us to recognize the signs before he got out of control and helped us to keep OUR stress level down and redirect his energy. Finn is much more relaxed now, around us and guests. Thanks to the training, we have an energetic sweet boy instead of a lot of stress and worry.

Bob gave me the tools to overcome this bump in the road and for that I was very grateful. It just was not happening before I hired him. We were and are in training with someone else to pass the AKC CGC test to become a Therapy Dog and he just wasn't getting it. I felt that this $350 was money well spent. When it came time to test, I got nervous so I called Bob again to help me with the portion of the test that was to have my dog have no reaction to another dog. There are certain tasks your dog has to pass and this is one of them. It is more than just walking by another dog. He was to take the test the next day but I was nervous to take the test in case he was to fail this portion. He suggested we meet in front of Petsmart. I was hesitant to stand in front of a store asking customers for help, but hey he is the trainer. I don't know if Bob is unfamiliar with the CGC test as he kept asking me what was expected. Maybe, he just wanted to visit. I kept wondering, "Why is he asking me? He is the professional, not me." After 3 customer's dogs pass by he said, "This lesson was a bust. I'm not going to charge you. You can use me for something else."He encouraged me to take the test anyway. Little did I know that the encouragement would cost $350. My dog did pass the test today, but it is not because of yesterday. My dog and I work every single day together. I absolutely use the tools I was taught by Bob for heeling. My dog is also still in obedience school with another trainer and doesn't need anything Bob has to offer. So, I asked for a refund and he said no. What he did for my dog that day was just look for dogs from customers, pace around the sidewalk and we pretty much just visited. Bob is quite an entertaining guy. This is a picture of Bob's response when I asked for a refund. My response was "Merry Christmas. Keep the money. God Bless." I guess he needs it more than I. Bob knows that standing in front of Petsmart talking and hitting up a few customers is not what got my dog to pass the test. It was hard work for the last 6 months and we have more to go. We are on our way to help those who need a great big dog hug.

Approximately 10 seconds after my initial search, it was very obvious that Scott was the easy decision. He's been collecting reviews for years and virtually all of them are 5-stars. It was a virtual guarantee that we would be happy if we called Scott. So we called Scott. Yes, these services are not cheap. But you get what you pay for and what you pay for here is a human being who speaks dog. Owning a puppy can be the source of unlimited stress, but you can really minimize that stress when you have someone like Scott to help you learn how to tackle all of the issues that pop up along the journey. And honestly, you plan to have a puppy in your life for many years - getting good behavior for potentially a decade+ is not money you are going to regret spending. We purchased the middle-tier package which consisted of 5 visits (4 in home and 1 at a park) + the opportunity to reach out to him whenever we have any future issues and need a bonus session or just some help. Scott came to our house for visit #1, and I will never forget how hard I laughed when he *immediately* transformed our girl from a cracked out puppy to a completely submissive and obedient dog after a simple, two-step action. And his method is never to hurt your dog - this is all done by just mimicking the behavior of an older dog who is teaching a puppy how to behave. Each visit resulted in better and better behavior. As of this writing, our puppy is 5 months old, but we have greatly accelerated her emotional intelligent, far behind her actual age. Our last visit was at a big park that had a dog park and a playground. There were a bunch of kids playing on the playground and they wanted to come say hello and pet our dog. Of course, I forgot all of *my* training and was failing to control her from jumping and being crazy. Scott patiently watched me messing up, and eventually, calmly walked over, took the leash, did his two step command, and just like the first day: POOF, it was like an exorcism. Suddenly, she was calm and submissive, allowing the toddlers to pet her without anymore lunatic behavior. The group of parents literally ooh'd and ahh'd at this marvel. I'm so glad others were able to witness his magic. And I'm so glad Scott was one of our first calls after we brought Birdie into our lives. I highly recommend you do the same.

Before she went, I'd worked with her on sit, down, take it, leave it, and some spins with decent success. Brian took what she had and built on it, adding heel, come when called, turn, and stay. He returned a noticeably different dog. When we hit some bumps shortly after, he came back out and spent a solid hour with me going over what was actually happening...not just commands and corrections, but why she was behaving the way she was and what she needed from me to feel secure. (Spoiler: she needed me to be more confident and consistent.) He has a way of cutting straight to what matters without overcomplicating it, and more than once he said exactly the right thing at exactly the right moment. What struck me most across both experiences was how much genuine wisdom he brings to his work. He's clearly someone who has learned his craft through deep experience and observation, and it shows in every interaction with the dog and with the owner. On top of all of that, his pricing was incredibly reasonable; boarding and training combined for what many trainers charge for training alone. We felt genuinely taken care of. Kind, patient, perceptive, and exactly what we needed. Highly recommend.
