Why 5 stars? Because this man is fluent in dog…read more --- --- --- We got a new puppy a few months ago, so one of the first things we searched for was a good trainer in the area. Approximately 10 seconds after my initial search, it was very obvious that Scott was the easy decision. He's been collecting reviews for years and virtually all of them are 5-stars. It was a virtual guarantee that we would be happy if we called Scott. So we called Scott. Yes, these services are not cheap. But you get what you pay for and what you pay for here is a human being who speaks dog. Owning a puppy can be the source of unlimited stress, but you can really minimize that stress when you have someone like Scott to help you learn how to tackle all of the issues that pop up along the journey. And honestly, you plan to have a puppy in your life for many years - getting good behavior for potentially a decade+ is not money you are going to regret spending. We purchased the middle-tier package which consisted of 5 visits (4 in home and 1 at a park) + the opportunity to reach out to him whenever we have any future issues and need a bonus session or just some help. Scott came to our house for visit #1, and I will never forget how hard I laughed when he *immediately* transformed our girl from a cracked out puppy to a completely submissive and obedient dog after a simple, two-step action. And his method is never to hurt your dog - this is all done by just mimicking the behavior of an older dog who is teaching a puppy how to behave. Each visit resulted in better and better behavior. As of this writing, our puppy is 5 months old, but we have greatly accelerated her emotional intelligent, far behind her actual age. Our last visit was at a big park that had a dog park and a playground. There were a bunch of kids playing on the playground and they wanted to come say hello and pet our dog. Of course, I forgot all of *my* training and was failing to control her from jumping and being crazy. Scott patiently watched me messing up, and eventually, calmly walked over, took the leash, did his two step command, and just like the first day: POOF, it was like an exorcism. Suddenly, she was calm and submissive, allowing the toddlers to pet her without anymore lunatic behavior. The group of parents literally ooh'd and ahh'd at this marvel. I'm so glad others were able to witness his magic. And I'm so glad Scott was one of our first calls after we brought Birdie into our lives. I highly recommend you do the same.

My boy has issues with impulse control but now I have the tools to help him overcome that. He doesn't jump on me anymore, loves to chill on his place mat and I've even been able to start teaching him some new commands.

I can honestly say we got our money's worth with this one. Gunny did a complete turn around when it comes to his behavior but still maintained his affection. I was worried his playfulness would be completely trained out of him but that isn't the case. Gunny used to jump on everyone and run out the door every chance he got. Many times we've had to sprint around the block chasing him. He chewed on everything he could fit in his mouth and never sat still. If we couldn't see him at all times, he was sure to be destroying something. If we crated him, he howled. Thanks to Canine Texas, we still have our playful adorable pup but we can relax because he actually listens. He loves his place mat now. He gets to be a part of family time now. He hasn't jumped on a single person since bringing him home nor has he tried to run out of the door. He comes when called and we can actually take him for walks on a leash now without him pulling and yanking. We did the 30 day program. Of course we missed our pup but Lonnie sent pictures and updates so we knew he was in good hands. We chose Canine Texas because our dog wouldn't be in a cage in a business. He was at someone's home, in a small group, so he got the attention he needed. Lonnie focuses on truly training the dogs not just making money.

We initially thought we'd foster her for adoption due to her dog aggression issues. After working with Travis, we decided togive Rosie a forever home ourselves. We brought Travis in to privately train her so she didn't have to deal with the stress of a group setting and because we wanted a tailored training program. With Lone Star Dog Training, we received an excellent job. Travis educated us about how training is important and what results he felt we could see. Over the course of 4 months, Rosie went from being aggressive toward our other dogs to feeling safe and comfortable with them. She's even adopted our 12 year old border terrier as her sister. Rosie has progressed from a frightened stray who did not wag her tail or understand how to take affection, to bounding and leaping with joy when she sees her people. She now seeks out our affections and looks forward to spending time with us. If not for Lone Star Dog Training, we would not have decided to keep her. It showed us what a wonderful, fun and loving dog Rosie is. Thank you, Travis , for your dedication and patience with us.

Late the preceding Sunday afternoon I received a phone call that my dogs Bordetella had expired. I thought it odd because he was current on all vaccination; he even had the influenza vaccination. I told them I would check with the vet first thing Monday morning - the day I was headed out of town. First thing Monday, I called my vet who informed me his vaccinations were all up to date, and they emailed me a copy of his records. I forwarded these to the Lodge and followed up with a phone call. Kelsey said they had received the email and we "were all set." I took my dog to the Lodge and mentioned that I was glad the issue had all been cleared up......they said no, his vaccinations were not current, that his Bordetella had expired. I said that the records were provided showing that he was current. I told them that Kelsey had confirmed that all was ok. She was sitting at the front desk and said she only confirmed that they had received the email records-she said that she never looked at them. Seriously?? It was then, and only then, that I was informed that their policy was that this vaccination had to be renewed every 6 months, rather than annually as is the general practice. Never once had anyone mentioned that they required this vaccination to be done every 6 months. It would seem that this should have been mentioned before now, especially since, standard practice is that this vaccination is good for 12 months and also since I specifically called to follow up on this issue before bringing my dog for boarding. At this point my only option was to pay THEIR hospital a $55 exam fee plus the cost of the vaccination or they could not accept my dog. Nice little scam to get business for their hospital.....they must have thought they had me over a barrel, but guess what, they are not the only game in town!! Needless to say, I will not be going back and have already warned several neighbors to beware of their less than forthcoming business practices.
