I wanted this to be my dog's grooming place, because the place is nice, convenient, and I liked the receptionist and the owner. But the groomer is so rude, and that's my only reason for going there. I thought it was just the first time, so I tipped her 25% thinking she needed to see I was a good customer, but she was rude again on the second visit. She clipped my dog nails, but she didn't file them down. She did the first time, so I took him back in to file them down and she did it but it was blunt and jagged. Won't be going back. See photos for his trim job.

I can't say enough about how happy we are with the training we received from Lucky Dawg! Julie is a true dog whisperer who taught us and our dog Bella how to work together to enhance our canine - human relationships! Bella has responded extremely well to the training and behaves well in all types of situations. She follows our lead and handles herself well around children and other dogs. Walks are fun for all of us now, since we're no longer holding on for dear life. If you are considering a trainer, Julie is not only highly credentialed, but she is warm and caring, and she produces great results! She came to our home for 6 sessions, which was very effective for teaching us and Bella in a context where we could all be successful.

Not as satisfied with the training sessions. I feel like what we worked on the first five sessions could have been taught the first two sessions. It was basic easy learning information for me that could have been practiced all at once. That way we could have worked on other things such as behavioral issues. My Lab did improve a little bit on the commands however I feel that he should have learned a lot more for what I payed for. I did not feel that the trainer was really prepared for the sessions. She is great! She has great products! The location is very nice and professional I just feel that the training plan needs to improve! The staff was amazing! I'd give them 5 stars! I did feel that my lab was worsening in behavior until he stopped going to training, he listens very well it's easier to train him without the collar and he is as calm and Mello as he used to.

I'm so pleased with this company!! They provide caring and reliable service for your pets while you are away. We used them for the first time to pet sit our cat while of town for our wedding, and we are beyond satisfied. They are trustworthy and professional. I would highly recommend for anyone in the Montgomery/Conroe area!!

Why 5 stars? Because this man is fluent in dog…read more --- --- --- We got a new puppy a few months ago, so one of the first things we searched for was a good trainer in the area. Approximately 10 seconds after my initial search, it was very obvious that Scott was the easy decision. He's been collecting reviews for years and virtually all of them are 5-stars. It was a virtual guarantee that we would be happy if we called Scott. So we called Scott. Yes, these services are not cheap. But you get what you pay for and what you pay for here is a human being who speaks dog. Owning a puppy can be the source of unlimited stress, but you can really minimize that stress when you have someone like Scott to help you learn how to tackle all of the issues that pop up along the journey. And honestly, you plan to have a puppy in your life for many years - getting good behavior for potentially a decade+ is not money you are going to regret spending. We purchased the middle-tier package which consisted of 5 visits (4 in home and 1 at a park) + the opportunity to reach out to him whenever we have any future issues and need a bonus session or just some help. Scott came to our house for visit #1, and I will never forget how hard I laughed when he *immediately* transformed our girl from a cracked out puppy to a completely submissive and obedient dog after a simple, two-step action. And his method is never to hurt your dog - this is all done by just mimicking the behavior of an older dog who is teaching a puppy how to behave. Each visit resulted in better and better behavior. As of this writing, our puppy is 5 months old, but we have greatly accelerated her emotional intelligent, far behind her actual age. Our last visit was at a big park that had a dog park and a playground. There were a bunch of kids playing on the playground and they wanted to come say hello and pet our dog. Of course, I forgot all of *my* training and was failing to control her from jumping and being crazy. Scott patiently watched me messing up, and eventually, calmly walked over, took the leash, did his two step command, and just like the first day: POOF, it was like an exorcism. Suddenly, she was calm and submissive, allowing the toddlers to pet her without anymore lunatic behavior. The group of parents literally ooh'd and ahh'd at this marvel. I'm so glad others were able to witness his magic. And I'm so glad Scott was one of our first calls after we brought Birdie into our lives. I highly recommend you do the same.

My wife and I thought we did our due diligence before we even called Rick Walkley of Focus Dog…read moreTraining. He would not talk much about his program over the phone with my wife and said he had to come to our house to explain how it works. Long story short, he ended up taking our dog on a very short walk and we were so impressed by our dog's behavior while on the walk, we decided to pay Rick's fee up front which he represented to us would be for one year of training at about one hour per session per week. The total averaged about $50 per hour. Of the seven sessions we hung in there for and used his services, only two came close to being a full hour. Most were 15 to 30 minutes in duration. He kept telling us that was all our dog needed or could handle. That is one reason we became unhappy. The other reason we became disenchanted with Mr. Walkley is that he always chose and notified us by text when the next session would be. He did not let us first check our calendar. He did not even suggest the next training date options at the end of a session before leaving. He simply left, selected a date, and notified us as to when he would be available. If the date he selected was not good for us, it was 1-3 days later before we heard from him regarding another date he had selected. My wife requested on more than one occasion that he pick a same day/same time every week so we could plan. We advised him that there was only one day of the week that typically did not work for us and he often selected that day for training our dog. So, after seven training sessions over more than a six-month period of time, we called it quits and asked for a prorated refund of our money. He then explained to us that the upfront fee we paid was a discounted amount for our single payment and if we cancelled early, his normal fee of $195 per session would apply and he could only give us a credit toward future training. This condition was never explained to us. He did eventually provide some waiver of liability forms that alluded to the discount but did not disclose the numbers. Once we convinced him that we no longer felt comfortable dealing with him and that we were prepared to file suit, he offered his original reduced refund in cash in exchange for signing a "General Release Agreement" which would prevent us from posting any negative reviews. We refused to agree with that. It seems likely that is why he has no negative reviews on the internet. Rick Walkley talks the talk but he doesn't walk the walk. He expects to set the date and time of each session without first checking with you, he won't set weekly appointments, and he spends only a few minutes training your dog. Beyond that, he wants you to do the training but provides very little guidance and instruction for you. Let's face it, how much can he do in 15-20 minutes average training time for either the dog or the owner. It's your choice but if you decide to use Focus Dog Training be sure that you get everything in writing before paying your money.

Before she went, I'd worked with her on sit, down, take it, leave it, and some spins with decent success. Brian took what she had and built on it, adding heel, come when called, turn, and stay. He returned a noticeably different dog. When we hit some bumps shortly after, he came back out and spent a solid hour with me going over what was actually happening...not just commands and corrections, but why she was behaving the way she was and what she needed from me to feel secure. (Spoiler: she needed me to be more confident and consistent.) He has a way of cutting straight to what matters without overcomplicating it, and more than once he said exactly the right thing at exactly the right moment. What struck me most across both experiences was how much genuine wisdom he brings to his work. He's clearly someone who has learned his craft through deep experience and observation, and it shows in every interaction with the dog and with the owner. On top of all of that, his pricing was incredibly reasonable; boarding and training combined for what many trainers charge for training alone. We felt genuinely taken care of. Kind, patient, perceptive, and exactly what we needed. Highly recommend.

Both started their program on February 15th, 2023, and it was supposed to last 6 weeks, up to 8 weeks. *side note - Abby went to our vet for a check up and vaccine updates on February 9th, 2023 - and was groomed the day before drop off to training*. Mercy came home at the 10 week mark on April 28th. I went up to work with Mercy and saw Abby working with a trainer, but from afar. I went solo and worked with Mercy only. I mentioned Abby needed a groom and offered to request mine go up as she is mobile, but they said they had one they used and would have her groomed before she came home the following week. We picked up Abby on Monday, May 8th, just shy of 12 weeks. When we arrived, Abby had been to the groomer they recommended. I noticed she was itching like crazy and her skin was very inflamed. She smelled terrible. The trainers mentioned that they had given her benadryl a few times and just assumed she had allergies. I didn't make a huge fuss as we were just trying to get the lesson completed and head home. I satisfied my contract and even purchased equipment to take home to support the transition. The entire ride home- Abby did not stop scratching or vomiting. Once home, I did a very thorough look over and realized this was not just a little allergy or itch. I took Abby to my vet as soon asap (we were flooded in the day after pickup). Abby had double eye infections, a full blown skin infection, covered in scabs. Her skin was very red all over. Clumps of hair falling out when I bathed her. She had to be sedated to clean her ears and pack them. One of her ears was completely discolored. Staph and bacterial skin infection. All of the above had been going on for weeks, not days. It was an aggressive treatment and hefty bill (after a very hefty training bill). I reached out to the owner/trainer to update him on Abby and the delayed response I got was not professional whatsoever. I provided photos and the vet invoice. He mentioned they were wiping her eyes daily and cleaning her ears daily and they assumed allergies; and also assumed the shampoo the groomer used caused a reaction. I expressed that in no way thought this was intentional - however my concern for the absolute lack of communication and disappointment in the discomfort my dog must have felt for weeks. (Which is also probably what prolonged her training as well costing double the original quote). I am no stranger to cockers (this is my 4th) and I know this is par for the course with this breed. But, without anyone notifying me of her condition, I cannot get her seen and/or treated. It should not have gotten to this extent. That's not acceptable. I'm a simple text or call away. Every time I checked in, not a single mention of allergies, itching, rashes, ears or eyes, or even request made to give my dog benadryl. I requested a receipt/invoice - after 3rd request was given. Requested a copy of contract and has not been provided. Now, as far as the training, they do basic obedience. They have nice facilities, excellent reviews on Facebook. However - If your dog requires any maintenance at all, grooming, medications, etc. - find a different trainer. If you want updates and communication throughout the program - find a different trainer/facility. If you aren't a fan of training collars - find a different trainer (I use them so no judgement there on my part, but some aren't. Just being transparent). All that said -- I no longer can in good faith recommend BH2 Kennels to anyone seeking a board and train program, or for boarding. ** In no way do I feel anyone was purposely or intentionally trying to cause or inflict harm or injury/illness to my dog - things happen. A simple apology or explanation would have sufficed. A truthful one. And I absolutely should have been notified before giving my dog medication and notified of her condition long before picking her up. **I do feel her training took twice as long because of the infections she was suffering from and she could not hear properly to receive proper training.
